Norman of Baltimore County has decided to overturn the decision of a jury that awarded more than $38 million to the family of Korryn Gaines. Gaines, a 23-year-old Randallstown woman who was shot and killed by county police in 2016. J. Wyndal Gordon, an attorney for Gaines’ family, told the Baltimore Sun they plan to appeal. “It’s devastating to a certain extent, but they’re a very faithful family,” he said. “It’s not over.” Judge Norman presided over the civil case in Baltimore County Circuit Court last year. His new decision comes almost exactly a year after jurors found that the first shot fired by Officer Royce Ruby at Gaines, killing her and injuring her then-5-year-old son, Kodi, was not reasonable and therefore violated their civil rights under state and federal statutes. On January 11, 2019, The Weeknd linked with French DJ Gesaffelstein to release their collaborative single, “Lost In The Fire”. The track serves as the second single from Gesaffelstein’s second studio album which is titled “Hyperion”. Gasaffelstein previously worked with The Weeknd on the tracks “I Was Never There” and “Hurt You” which dropped last year, so having these two link again doesn’t come as a surprise. The Weeknd had also been sharing photos on social media of him and Gesaffelstein working in the studio so it was obvious that something was in the works. The song, though it’s only been out for a few weeks, has already had a bit of controversy. For starters, many believed that the track was about his ex-girlfriend at the time, Bella Hadid, and took a slight jab at his fellow Canadian artist and former colleague, Drake. The rumors were sparked by the first verse where The Weeknd says, ” “And I just want a baby with the right one/’Cause I could never be the one to hide one.” Many thought that The Weeknd was shedding light on Drake hiding the fact that he was a father from the world. This week we are also going deep into the movie world and discussing the film everyone is talking about, A Star Is Born, starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. The movie dropped back in October but since then it has racked up a ton of award show wins and nominations. It’s obvious that the film was a hit amongst critics. Just days after being released on bond from ICE on Superbowl Sunday, now 21 Savage is facing a felony warrant from a 2016 alleged theft from a club gig he was booked on. Email Submit According to TMZ Savage was booked on a club gig in Southern Georgia in 2016 where he took a deposit of $9,500. Upon showing up at the club Savage was to receive the balance of $7,500 from the promoter. For an unknown reason, Savage never took the stage but he took the cash for the club gig. The promoter filed a police report and paperwork to get a felony warrant for theft by deception in October of 2016. After the warrant was issued it just sat there for more than 2 years and no legal action was taken until now. R apper 21 Savage has become a symbol of harsh immigration laws after he was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials in Atlanta on Feb. 3. The 26-year-old is now speaking out for the first time since the arrest to “Good Morning America.” See Also: Why 21 Savage Memes Are No Laughing Matter While talking to ABC News’ Linsey Davis, the rapper, whose real name is She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, explained the arrest, “I was just driving. And I just seen guns and blue lights. And, then, I was in the back of a car. And I was gone.” He also said they never told him he was under arrest, “They didn’t say nothing. They just said, ‘We got Savage.’” He added, “It was definitely targeted. However, he failed to leave the U.S. under the terms of his nonimmigrant visa. Consequently, ICE said his presence in the U.S. has been unlawful since his visa expired in July 2006. When asked if he considers himself to be a Dreamer — a young, undocumented immigrant who came to the U.S. as a child and met the requirements to participate in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — he replied, “I guess so… I went into first grade here, so I don’t really remember too much. I remember, like, my grandma house, and that’s probably about it. I didn’t really do much there. I’ve been Atlanta probably 20 years, 19 years. I’m from Atlanta, in my eyes.” Savage also described the detention center he was held in, claiming he was in one room all day. “I feel like I done been through so much in my life, like, I learned to embrace the times when I’m down ’cause they always build me up and take me to a new level in life,” he said. “So it’s like even if I’m sitting in a cell on 23-hour lockdown, in my mind, I know what’s gonna come after that. So I’m not happy about it. However, it is not definite if Savage will be allowed to stay in the country.
