Both elements of the campaign will run throughout February. “This is a pivotal time for women of color in our nation and we’re proud to amplify the voices of women who are influencing change in our society as part of our Black History Month programming,” General Manager Michelle Rice said. “TV One will also feature programs highlighting the rich stories of women behind the Civil Rights Movement and other heroes who changed the course of American history.” While the network focuses all year long on all facets of Black life and culture, Black History Month on TV One is a special time to honor the tremendous contributions that African Americans have made throughout the world. Every Wednesday beginning Wednesday, February 6 at 9 p.m. ET, the network will air movies that celebrate women at the forefront of important moments in history, including the TV One original film Behind the Movement, A Raisin in the Sun, Cadillac Records and more. Donald Glover’s ‘Atlanta’ Season 3 Is Delayed

See more here:

Source: Guy D’Alema/FX / Guy D’Alema/FX This is not the news we were hoping for. Season 3 of Donald Glover’s critically acclaimed Atlanta  series on FX has been delayed.  Vulture reports that at a Television Critics Association event today (Feb. 5), FX CEO John Landgraf said it doesn’t look like season 3 will arrive on time, or in 2019 at all. “The writers are back working right now, thank God,” Langraf reportedly said, adding, “If you wanna see me cry, you can just come backstage.” The reason of for the delay is the Glover and the rest of the ridiculously talented cast that includes Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz and LaKeith Stanfield are just extremely busy. Glover is still knocking out dates as Childish Gambino on the This Is America tour while the other aforementioned actors are all legitimate movie stars now. Although we want our Atlanta now, we have no doubt season 3 will be worth the wait. Let’s just keep that delay to a minimum, for the culture. — Photo: Guy D’Alema/FX

Some New England Patriots Players Are Skipping Traditional White House Visit

See original here:

Source: Icon Sportswire / Getty After defeating the Los Angeles Rams in the recent Super Bowl LIII contest, the New England Patriots are bucking tradition at least in some part. Some Pats players are opting to skip the traditional visit to the White House, robbing President Donald Trump of a usually expected photo op. New York Daily News reports : It didn’t take long for members of the Patriots to start fielding the question that has become inevitable for champions: Will you visit Donald Trump’s White House? Some of them have already made it clear they won’t. Twins Devin and Jason McCourty told reporters on Monday that they would be skipping the trip if invited by the president. Devin was adamant about staying away, while Jason was more diplomatic at first. “I haven’t thought about it, but I highly doubt it,” he said. Then his brother prodded him a bit and Jason said there was almost no chance he would go. TMZ Sports reported that safety Duron Harmon, who is Black, will also skip the trip. — Photo: Getty

Issa Good Kid: All The Times 21 Savage Made Us Love Him

See the rest here:

Source: Prince Williams / Getty It’s been a pretty tough and confusing weekend for 21 Savage and anyone that’s a fan of his music. Over the weekend, the rapper was taken into custody for possible removal from the U.S. TMZ reported, “21 Savage was picked up by ICE early Sunday morning. He apparently entered the U.S. legally in 2005 but his visa expired and he reportedly is here illegally. He reportedly is being held for removal proceedings … this for being in the country illegally and for being a felon. He was convicted of drug charges in 2014.” Lots of folks have pointed out that the timing of 21’s arrest is an eyebrow raiser. Not only that, but isn’t ICE’s job capture immigrants who are involved in illegal activity? We all know that Savage, whose r eal name is Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph , has a past — but he’s pretty much been on a strait and narrow for several years and doing so much for the African-American community. There’s so much more to the young star than tattoos, guns and an expired visa. Hit the flip for all the times 21 Savage made us love him.

Saving Our Daughters on FOX STAR SET Black History Month

Read more here:

Source: Curtis B / Radio One (Friday, January 25th) The girls of the Ron Clark Academy (RCA) had an exciting, eye opening experience as they toured the set of the Fox television HIT show STAR, co-created by Lee Daniels. The 5th-7th graders that participated in the special field trip are part of the “Saving Our Daughter’s Cinderella” program, co-founded by actress and singer, Keke Palmer, who is also a guest star on STAR. Going on its second year of the STAR and Saving Our Daughters special set visits; this field trip was coordinated and hosted by Assistant to James E. Williams of Star Season 3, Taylor Williams. In addition to setting up a tour of the stages and sets, Q&A with some of the crew enlightened the girls of the team effort involved in the development of the show. Tasha Smith (Actress, Director) Mack Price (Production Assistant), Rachel Guilfoyle (Costumes Coordinator), Carrie Clever (Seamstress), Natalie Rhooms (Set Director), Zoey Wang (Art Coordinator )and Aamina Gant (Music Coordinator) spoke to and visited with the RCA Cinderellas about what it is like to work on a television series, their professions and the life choices they made that led them to STAR. Source: Curtis B / Radio One Source: Curtis B / Radio One “FOX Television & the STAR team’s openness to provide these opportunities are priceless. It’s takes a village to bring awareness of the possible careers in the arts and to encourage young girls to push through their challenges and pursue their dreams. Thank you again for sharing your gifts with us.” – Saving Our Daughters’ Co-Founder, Debbie Benjamin The girls had the pleasure of meeting everyone from wardrobe, production design, photography and set decoration. They were blessed and encouraged after talking in depth with Tasha Smith. To hear Tasha’s personal testimony of overcoming bullying, childhood adversities and drug abuse in her family; to evolve into an assertive, successful actress, director and producer left a lasting impression on the students. Watching the anticipation build as the girls were about to witness an actual rehearsal scene in the recording studio, their faces beamed with amazement, as actresses/singers Jude Demorest (Star) and Ryan Destiny (Alexandria) came out to encourage the girls, take photos and give hugs to each girl. Source: Curtis B / Radio One Source: Curtis B / Radio One Source: Curtis B / Radio One Source: Curtis B / Radio One What some of the RCA Cinderellas had to say on their STAR Visit; Ryann Gholston, 8th “My visit to the set of STAR was very informational. I am so grateful for the experience! When we arrived, we were given a tour of the set where we met a few workers who all had completely different but exciting jobs. These jobs included costume design, production assistant, and set design. It was really cool for me to see how much preparation goes behind filming just one scene. We even met Jude Demorest and Ryan Destiny, two of the stars of the show. We also met the director, the one and only Ms. Tasha Smith! I really appreciate how the Saving Our Cinderellas program continues to reach out to girls like me to expose us to new things we don’t get to do or see every day!” Sanaa Dais, 6th “It was an honor to have been chosen to view the set of Star. The experience was awesome and the I will never forget that memory. I met some terrific and talented individuals. How many people can say they’ve met Tasha Smith? Meeting the cast was great. Thank you for an awesome experience.” Joy Udoh, 6th “My Savings Our Cinderella’s experience has been nothing short of amazing. I loved getting to see the tv set and seeing what goes on behind the scenes. Being a young girl, it’s truly inspiring to watch other women take the lead in fields that you didn’t even know existed. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and I absolutely loved it.” Haley Crawley, 7th “I was invited to the set of STAR and had the opportunity of meeting Jude (Star), Ryan (Alexandra), Taylor, and Mac. I loved the whole thing. I got to learn about the set. I learned about the roles of an assistant director, a production assistant, and a set designer. We also learned what happened in the design and art studio. My favorite part was the fashion designers. I love fashion. Thank you for the amazing experience.” Zoey Little, 6th “I really enjoyed being on the set of Star. I know a lot of people do not get the experience that I got to have, let alone meet two of the main characters, Star and Alexandra. My favorite part overall was going to the costume department where I got to ask questions about how many costumes one character has and about the budget. I really enjoyed this experience as it changed my outlook on how much work goes on behind the scenes in the filming industry.”

The Brooklyn rapper took issue with his record label boss last week. As spotted on High Snobiety,   Desiigner addressed the rather large elephant in the room about his career which seemed to stall after the hype of his hit single “Panda” died off via an IG live video. “I brought G.O.O.D Music back and everybody know that. So what ya’ll talking about I fell off? It only dropped two mixtapes bro; two. Ya’ll people mad ungrateful; mad ungrateful for the music I gave ya’ll.” He also took time to make it clear that Yeezy has done very little for him professionally and any moves being made are because of him. “Nobody is doing this sh*t for me, bro. Nobody is doing this sh*t for me. I had signed to Kanye West. The biggest n**ga. Y’all n**gas think he’s the genius. Y’all think that n***a’s sh*t. But to me, n**ga, that n**ga’s crazy, n**ga. To me, n**ga, I’ve been doing this sh*t myself.” While the “Timmy Turner” rapper may have a point it would not be fair to point out that West seemingly made “Panda” that much bigger when he flipped it to “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2”. You can view Desiigner’s rant below.   Ironically he followed up the broadside by dropping a new song called “Finesse”. Peep it below. — Photo: WENN
