TV One Honors Inspirational Women With Black History Month Programming

The rest is here:

TV One is celebrating Black History Month with a tribute to inspirational black women and a full schedule of programs that exemplifies this year’s theme: Represent Change. Across its digital and social platforms, TV One will feature in-depth profiles of influential black women documenting their start, their struggle and ultimately, how they became champions of change. Both elements of the campaign will run throughout February. “This is a pivotal time for women of color in our nation and we’re proud to amplify the voices of women who are influencing change in our society as part of our Black History Month programming,” General Manager Michelle Rice said. “TV One will also feature programs highlighting the rich stories of women behind the Civil Rights Movement and other heroes who changed the course of American history.” While the network focuses all year long on all facets of Black life and culture, Black History Month on TV One is a special time to honor the tremendous contributions that African Americans have made throughout the world. Every Wednesday beginning Wednesday, February 6 at 9 p.m. ET, the network will air movies that celebrate women at the forefront of important moments in history, including the TV One original film Behind the Movement, A Raisin in the Sun, Cadillac Records and more. Additionally, TV One will present weekly themed episodes of its signature Unsung Hollywood beginning Wednesday, February 6 at 8 p.m. ET featuring female artists who’ve inspired change that will lead into the feature movie presentations including Vanessa Bell Calloway, Pam Grier, Eartha Kitt and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Rounding out the network’s Black History Month line-up is a three-day marathon of the classic sitcom “Good Times” in honor of the show’s 45th anniversary on February 8. The “Good Times” marathon begins on Friday, February 8 at 10 a.m. ET and airs through Sunday, February 10 until 4:30 a.m. ET.

Life Of Kylie: Watch the First Promo For Kylie Jenner’s New Series!

We suppose it was inevitable. By some measures, Kylie Jenner has been the most popular member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan for over a year now. She has 94 million followers on Instagram and another 20 million each on Facebook and Twitter. (The “175 million followers” claim made by her people is a bit dubious, as there's undoubtedly a great deal of overlap across platforms.) She's launched a line of wildly successful makeup products almost entirely on the strength of her name. She's emerged from the tremendous shadow cast by Kim Kardashian to join her big sister as one of the most recognizable women on the planet. In retrospect, a Kylie Jenner spinoff series was bound to happen. And now, E! has launched a full-blown media assault to hype the show's July 6 premiere. The first trailer for Life of Kylie premiered today, and it's loaded with the sort of profound insights into the human condition and nature of fame that we've come to expect from the young woman who declared 2016 the year of ” realizing stuff .” “Nobody has a perfect life,” Kylie says in her best “profound voiceover” voice. “Now I can find what really is gonna make me happy.” We hate to say it, Kylizzle, but if unimaginable wealth, the adulation of tens of millions, and never having to do any real work don't have you well on your way to happiness, you might be out of luck. “There’s an image that I have to keep up with. Then there’s me: Kylie,” she concludes. Okay, so it's not The Wire , but it's sure to give Kylie fanatics exactly what they want – a whole lot of Kylie. Watch the first trailer for Life of Kylie below:

Kristen Stewart is the World’s Highest Paid Actress

Kristen Stewart had a very good 2010. And we aren’t just referring to the handsome man in her bed every night. According to Vanity Fair ‘s Hollywood Top 40, Stewart raked in more than any actress in Hollywood last year, totalling $28.5 million overall. Impressively, she beat Jennifer Aniston ($24.5) and Angelina Jolie ($23.5 million) to earn the top spot. Stewart still has a long way to go to match the men, however. Johnny Depp led all actor/actresses in these rankings, banking $100 million in 12 months, including $20 million for the crap that was The Tourist . Other notable actors on the list included Leonardo DiCaprio ($62 million), Adam Sandler ($34 million), Taylor Lautner ($33.5 million) and Robert Downey Jr. ($31.5 million).

Dina Lohan Rails Against Glee Again

If you watched last night’s Glee , you knew as soon as Katie Couric’s hilarious cameo was over that Dina Lohan would be whining by close of business Monday. Like clockwork, a “friend” of Dina’s (apparently, she has one) says she is ” hurt and shocked ” by the show’s latest jab – this time at Lindsay’s mom directly. Glee, which took shots at Lindsay earlier this season via Gwyneth Paltrow’s guest character, and its “constant teasing” have downright offended Dina now. If you don’t watch Glee, here’s the long and short of it: Katie (as herself) interviewed Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester after she had been named Loser of the Year. As Katie recounted all the losers Sue bested out for the title, Dina Lohan’s name was among them. She is pissed. Her ex, Michael Lohan, also begged to differ. In Michael’s case, though, he thinks Glee just didn’t go far enough. Michael told sources that Dina “deserves a lot worse of a title after all she has done to destroy the relationships with my kids and entire family.” How kind. He calls the people Dina surrounds herself with “the epitome of losers.” You’d think with Lindsay’s pending felony charge , they’d focus on … oh wait, no you wouldn’t. All these people do is whine about their pathetic lives instead of taking responsibility or establishing themselves as upstanding citizens through action. Way to go, losers! Watch the clip after the jump: We’re looking for a higher quality version of the clip, but turn the volume up to hear this tremendous comedic exchange from Sunday’s episode … Glee With Katie Couric

Incessant: WaPo Promoting Yet Another Protest of Ants-on-Christ Video’s Removal

The Washington Post simply cannot stop putting protesters of the removal of an ants-on-Jesus video on the front page of the Style section. Once again in Friday's paper, art critic Blake Gopnik is publicizing gay artist A.A. Bronson's request that his huge color photo of his skeletal lover Felix Partz in his bed hours after he died in 1994 be removed from the exhibit:

NBC’s Revisionist History of Conan O’Brien’s Tonight Show: It Never Existed!

How badly does NBC just want to put this Whole Conan Thing behind them? Via Peter Kafka at All Things Digital , so badly, they’re trying to eradicate all history of it ever having existed from The Internet. What history? Exactly . But come on, Peter Kafka. NBC wouldn’t be so stupid and brazen as to remove the archives of their first serious cause célèbre to come to the network in a while, would they? If you said “yes” outloud just now, well, you’re right. Per Peter : A little odd, given that a couple of days ago, the network was offering every single “Tonight Show” episode O’Brien had taped on NBC.com. But then again, everything about this story has been odd. I’ve asked NBC for comment. NBC – at least, I’m assuming it’s NBC – has also been aggressive about taking down Conan episodes from Google’s YouTube (GOOG). A look at NBC’s site shows, well, nothing. The NBC-partnered Hulu shows nothing, either! Nothing here, either That said, you can still watch other great NBC programming, like… Lipstick Jungle ! Which was canceled last May. Or Kings ! Which, like Conan’s show, was a fan-favorite NBC canceled because they were too incompetent to figure out how to make money off of it. Or the NBC reboot of Knight Rider, which was just as stupid of an idea as it sounded! You can even buy old Tonight Show gear! But you know what you can’t do? Watch Conan O’Brien ‘s The Tonight Show. Probably because it reminds NBC of nothing but their tremendous failure to do anything correctly, ever. A pattern they manage to move forward with by erasing Conan from their memories. Thankfully, for you, dear customer: Conan Lives On, in our hearts, minds, and at Gawker.TV , where we’re apparently servicing NBC’s customer base better than that network will ever—ever—be able to be.
