Congress has passed a bill ensuring all federal employees will be compensation retroactively after the partial Government shutdown concludes. On Thursday the Senate approved a bill unanimously and on Friday the House passed a bull requiring all employees including furloughed ones be paid as soon as possible once the Government reopens. Donald Trump is expected to pass the bill. Friday, January 11th marked the 21st day of thr Partial Government shutdown, making it the longest in U.S. History. Source: Jeff Kravitz / Getty This is crazy! According to Deadline , Eddie Murphy is set to reprise his role as Prince Akeem for a sequel to the 1988 classic Coming To America ! Here’s the synopsis: In the sequel, Akeem learns about a long lost son, and must return to America to meet his unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda. What Murphy and director Craig Brewer are hoping is that the original cast from Arsenio Hall to James Earl Jones, John Amos and Shari Headley all return to reprise their roles from the original. “After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward,” Murphy said in a statement. “We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.” I don’t know how it’s going to work but it’s supposed to work? There’s no word on production but filmmakers are hoping for 2019. Brewer directed Murphy in his upcoming role as Rudy Ray Moore in the biopic, My Name Is Dolemite . This week we’re talking about the Netflix original film, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle . The film is about a human child named Mowgli who is raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India after his family is killed. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own, but the fearsome tiger Shere Khan do esn’t take a liking to him. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins and has to make the great decision whether he is human or wolf. Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle hit Netflix in December 2018 and is a new take on the infamous Jungle Book stories. Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise got the opportunity to check it out and weighed in on the film. They also discussed The Lox’s Rockwilder-produced “Never Over” track, which dropped back in November 2018. The Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch single sort of flew under the radar for anyone who isn’t a devout D-Block loyalist but you know our resident critics DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius couldn’t let the song slip by without discussing it. He explains why he is opening up in a new magazine feature. As spotted on Complex the New Orleans Native covers the February edition of GQ . As part of the yearly music issue he provides some context behind some of his most recent moves specifically making his Instagram account public back in November . Being that the “Novacane” crooner is uber private this was a pretty big deal. “I feel like there was dissonance between how I was seen by the audience and where I was actually, so that contributed to the decision to make my Instagram public, for sure,” he explained. “But there’s also the idea of dialogue and discourse and conversation—like theater where the audience can interrupt you versus the television.” When asked to provide examples of the perceived disconnect he pointed to his overall public perception that in his mind couldn’t be farther from reality. “That dissonance—the word being a big container for what I was feeling…the way I was seen was not even close to correct. It’s still not correct, either.” He also details how moving to New York City is going. “I like it a lot because I spend more time at the house. I think it comes from living in hotels, but when I’m in L.A., I find myself in my car a lot.… Which is stress. In New York, it’s the first time in a minute that I’ve had my own space that’s not a hotel and not some rented home, where everything around me is mine, and that’s been really cozy and comfortable this past year.” You can read the rest of the interview where he shares some insight on his musical direction for 2019, his skincare routine and more here .
