‘RHOAS11’ Recap: Eva Snubs The Group For Her Secret Bachelorette Trip

Read the original post:

Source: J. Countess / Getty Tonight’s episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta is all about the couple’s trip that actually ends up becoming a girl’s trip but hold that thought. We begin the episode with Porsha’s revelation that she won’t be telling the group or even Dennis’ mother about her baby just yet since it’s still early. But speaking of Dennis’s mother, Porsha is definitely still trying to impress her. However, Mama Dennis is still keeping her eye on Porsha and definitely wants to know what her thoughts are about prenups. Now let’s cut to the trip. It ends up becoming a girls trip to Destin, Fl. So many of the guys end up dropping out, for various reasons, that Gregg doesn’t want to be the only man present and drops out too. That’s how it becomes the ladies’ takeover. They all meet at Kandi’s house and drive to Florida. They play games to pass the time, starting with truth or dare. Here we go… Shamari is up first, and her dare is to let the nearest woman suck her fingers. That would be Eva, who is actually game. Shamari tells Eva she got a nice little tongue on her. Eva and Kandi get a similar dare, which is to talk dirty to your man on speakerphone. Both situations are a bust. But then, Porsha picks truth and that opens the floodgates for instant messiness. NeNe starts it off by asking Porsha if Dennis dated someone on the bus or someone that knows someone on the bus. Nene knew she was being messy too. So, the topic comes up again and Malo jumps in asking Kandi to clarify. Kandi reiterates for the billionth time that she knows someone who dated him off and on over the last 6 months but then adds that she thinks they were dealing with each other as recently as a month and a half ago, in what was described as a casual fling. Porsha doubles down, claiming that they’ve been in a monogamous relationship. Then Kandi blows up Porsha’s spot and says that she saw Porsha boo’d up with another guy just three months prior to her getting all serious with Dennis. We all knew there was something fishy going on. Finally, the group settles into the house and then continues the messiness over dinner. This time, Cynthia initiates a discussion with Eva. Basically, she wanted to know why Eva went on a bachelorette trip to Miami (which was right before this trip) and didn’t invite any of them, especially NeNe, who is actually in her wedding, and Eva claims is like her big sister. Eva says it was a surprise trip, but not like a suprise, surprise,  then Porsha pipes up saying she was actually invited so now and now they’re looking at her like: This does strike NeNe as shady but she doesn’t seem to take it too hard. We move on and Shamari says she feels some type of way about Porsha trying to shade her style at the Bailey Q, only it wasn’t Porsha that shaded her, it was Eva. They don’t even remember who shades who and Eva didn’t even remember shading her. Anyway, they settle that score peacefully and manage to get through dinner smoothly. But next week, it’s looking like things will get tense between Shamari and Marlo. Poll Shows What Crucial Iowa Voters Think About Likely Black Candidates For President

Here is the original post:

A new poll of Iowa Democrats released on Saturday revealed how they viewed the chances of two potential African-American candidates to beat President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. SEE ALSO: Here’s Another Sign That Cory Booker Is Running For President Nearly a third of Iowa Democrats said they would choose former Vice President Joe Biden as their top choice in the Iowa Caucuses, Politico reported. Sens. Kamala Harris of California and New Jersey’s Cory Booker were in the middle of a crowded field of about 20 candidates. These politicians have not announced their intention to run for president, and the Iowa caucus is months away— scheduled for Feb. 3, 2020. Still, this poll is considered an early indicator of the mood among Democrats. Iowa is the first state in the presidential nominating process. The winner has won the Democratic presidential nomination in six consecutive election cycles, according to Politico. In 2008, Iowa Caucus Democrats gave then-Sen.  Barack Obama  its  seal of approval . Iowans connected with Obama’s message of hope and change, and he rode that wave of enthusiasm all the way to the White House. 5 Signs Cory Booker Is About To Run For President https://t.co/Qz6NmeKM9n via @NewsOne — Kevin Agee (@preachingterp) February 14, 2018 Biden led the field with 32 percent. Bernie Sanders , a Vermont Independent, came in second place with 19 percent, followed by Texas’ Rep. Beto O’Rourke with 11 percent. Everyone else has single digits: Massachusetts’ Sen. Elizabeth Warren at 8 percent, Harris at 5 percent, and Booker at 4 percent. There has been a lot of Buzz about a possible Booker presidential run, especially after he received an important invitation in September from Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Troy Price to be the keynote speaker at the party’s fall gala. Harris said that she’s “ not ruling out ” a 2020 presidential run. The Washington Post ranked her third in July among likely Democratic candidates to win the party’s nomination—behind Sanders and Warren. A majority of the Iowa Democrats who were polled, 54 percent, said they want a candidate who could defeat Trump in 2020. About 40 percent said they are looking for a candidate who shares their views on key issues. They believe that Biden has the best chance of topping the president. At the same time, he was also the best-liked candidate in the field. About 82 percent of them had a favorable view of the former vice president. Additionally, Biden and Sanders led the pack in name recognition. S pelman College recently received a major gift to push the institution’s educational initiatives forward. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution , that Atlanta-based HBCU was given a $30 million donation from one of it’s trustees and her husband. Spelman College received the largest gift from living donors in its 137-year history, a $30 million donation from long-standing Spelman trustee Ronda Stryker and spouse William Johnston. https://t.co/iyESorL89s — AtlBizChron (@AtlBizChron) December 14, 2018 The donation—which was made by Ronda Stryker and William Johnston —was the largest contribution from living donors in the school’s 137-year history, the news outlet writes. It will go towards the creation of Spelman’s new Center for Innovation & the Arts. The facility will serve as a hub for programs related to art, film and photography, digital media, and dance. It will also include a theater, café, and an expansion of the Spelman College Museum of Fine Arts. Stryker—who is an executive at the Fortune 500 Company Stryker Corporation—joined Spelman’s board of trustees in 1997. She’s now the vice chair of the Spelman College Board of Trustees and leads the board’s Arts, Innovation & Technology Committee. Throughout the years she’s made several contributions to the institution; helping it to grow its study abroad program, providing funding for STEM initiatives, helping out with the expansion of the Spelman College Museum of Fine Arts and growing the school’s annual fund. “As former educators who believe strongly in social justice, Bill and I have great appreciation for how Spelman provides a superior education for students that encourages them to be global change agents,” Stryker said in a statement . “Spelman alumnae are leaders across every field imaginable, breaking new ground, while tackling some of the world’s most challenging issues from health disparities to the digital divide. We are thrilled to support a building that will encourage students to master technology, innovation and the arts.” Spelman College president Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D. expressed her gratitude for Stryker and her husband’s contribution, stating that it will ensure that students will “be prepared to tackle the challenges of our changing world through innovation, creativity and the dynamic intersection of science, technology, engineering, arts and math.” Several donors have been stepping up to further programs at HBCUs. In March, Howard University alumnus Wendell E. Mackey, CFA made a $250,000 donation to the institution’s business school. No Shame In Her Game: Sen. Cindy ‘Public Hanging’ Hyde-Smith Won’t Return Money To Major Donors

A lmost three weeks after winning her controversial runoff election, Mississippi’s GOP Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith had no intention of returning donations to companies that demanded refunds after she created public relations problems for them with her racist campaign. SEE ALSO: How Racism Came To Dominate The Mississippi Senate Runoff Election Hyde-Smith’s campaign made one exception when it returned money to just one donor: Major League Baseball, which is trying to promote racial diversity as fewer Black athletes chose to play baseball, the New York Times reported on Friday. MLB’s contribution represented $5,000 of the more than $50,000 that donors wanted back. Hyde-Smith, who has an affinity for white supremacy, set off a furor with her remark about public hangings in a state that has a long history of lynchings. She was running against Mike Espsy , a former congressman who is African-American. A Federal Election Commission spokeswoman told the newspaper that Hyde-Smith is not required by law to return the contributions. Regulations only require campaign committees to return illegal donations or those that exceed contribution amount limits. Black Republicans in Mississippi rallied behind Cindy Hyde-Smith in her runoff election against Mike Espy despite evidence that she's a racist… #MississippiRunoff #RepresentTheVote pic.twitter.com/8i4CmIHP33 — NewsOne (@newsone) November 28, 2018 Hyde-Smith and Espy were the top vote-getters among several candidates in a special election to replace retiring GOP Sen.  Thad Cochran . A runoff was necessary because none of the candidates won more than 50 percent of the votes on Election Day. It appears that Hyde-Smith’s campaign spent all the money over an abundance of fear that she created an opening for Espy to win. Espy was a clear underdog in the runoff election. A  survey  taken shortly before the election showed that Hyde-Smith had a 10-point lead. However, fearful Republicans scrambled in the days ahead of the runoff election to prevent Hyde-Smith from losing the Senate seat, prompting President  Donald Trump  to hold rallies in the state with the hope of turning out his base to vote for her. The worry stemmed from an unguarded moment on her campaign trail when Hyde-Smith  revealed her racist attitude toward African Americans . At a Nov. 2 campaign stop, she praised a longtime supporter. “If he invited me to a public hanging, I’d be on the front row,” she was caught saying on a video posted to social media. In the following weeks, more revelations about her undying love for the Confederacy surfaced. As the public’s memories of the runoff fade with the passage of time, many of these same companies, which include Walmart and the health insurance giant Aetna, will have to decide whether to support Hyde-Smith’s re-election campaign in 2020. WWII All Black Women Unit Honored With Monument

A group of trailblazing Black women are finally getting the recognition that they deserve. The women who were a part of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion—the U.S. Army’s only all-Black all-women unit during WWII—were honored with a monument in Kansas, Radio.com reported. Five of the 800+ servicewomen were present at the monument dedication ceremony. https://t.co/RKSpLMh6Ty — CBS News Radio (@CBSNewsRadio) December 8, 2018 The group—which was made up of over 800 Black women—was responsible for organizing mail in a segregated unit, the news outlet writes. They served during a time where the Women Army Corps were separated by race and women of color were rarely allowed to serve overseas. Nearly 73 years ago, after the Red Cross had a huge backlog of mail that was supposed to be distributed to U.S. service members, the women were selected to serve in Birmingham, England to help with the issue. Prior to traveling to Europe, they trained in Camp Shanks, New York. The group was led by Lt. Col Charity Edna Adams who was the first Black woman to be an officer in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. According to the news outlet, the women went through 65,000 pieces of mail during each shift. They were forced to work in unclean, rat-infested warehouses. The monument in Fort Leavenworth features the names of all the women and imagery from their journey. Five of the women who served were in attendance at the ceremony. “Servicemen want their mail. That’s a morale booster,” 95-year-old Lena King , who was a part of the unit, told KCTV . “Within six months, we had cleared up two to three years of back mail.” The unsung legacies of these women will live on through the monument. The dedication of the monument comes shortly after the passing of Tulsa Race Riot survivor Olivia Hooker who was the first Black women to enter the U.S. Coast Guard in 1945.
