Love and Hip-Hop stars Lyrica and A1 stopped by The Wendy Williams Show this week to share with the world the results of a paternity test and to reveal the gender of the baby. Remember: In season 5, K. Michelle accused Lyrica of cheating on A1 with his friend and Nicki Minaj’s ex Safaree . While the “Souky Souky” singer denied the rumors, Safaree played coy, admitting to having crossed the line with her. (Whatever that means) So in order to save her reputation, Lyrica went the Maury Povich route to prove that no man other than her husband was the father of her baby. During the interview with Wendy, A1 confirmed that he got the test done and that he WAS in fact the father! “I knew it, but things happen you know,” A1 confided to Wendy. Lyrics added, “Listen Wendy, I did this for him. … I wanted him to feel comfortable. I felt like since I was the one getting badge with the rumors he was owed that. I always knew.” Most importantly, they also announced they are having a little boy! Source: Icon Sportswire / Getty A prayer vigil for Tennessee State linebacker Christion Abercrombie who suffered a head injury last Saturday during the TSU vs Vanderbilt football game. Abercrombie is an Atlanta native who graduated from Westlake High School in 2016 where he excelled both in the classroom and on the field. Abercrombie was injured during the first half of the game. He underwent emergency surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. Some progressive has been reported, however he remains in ICU, listed in critical condition. Close family friends and 2016/2017 Westlake Moms/Dads Group are organizing the vigil. M ore than two weeks have passed since a security guard killed an HBCU student for supposedly breaking into cars at an off-campus apartment complex parking lot in North Carolina. DeAndre Ballard, who was a senior at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in Durham, was shot the night of Sept. 17, but that was pretty much the only fact that was established as local law enforcement has kept quiet about most other details protesters have been demanded ever since. However, a local news reporter tweeted that the 911 call, or calls, were not being released, even though it’s fairly customary to release them to the public under such controversial circumstances. Police have only explained why they took days to identify Ballard. — Derrick Lewis (@DerrickQLewis) October 2, 2018 The frustrating development came one day after NCCU students coordinated a campus protest by walking out of class Monday morning to demand justice for their fallen 23-year-old classmate. The organizer of the walkout, Jamie Lyn Riggin, said she wanted to increase awareness to the shooting that hasn’t seemed to register a blip on the national media radar. “We don’t stand for things like this to continue to happen,” Riggin reportedly told the group of students who participated in the walkout. “We have pride here as Eagles, and if we are gonna soar, we are gonna soar as one,” she said, referring to the NCCU mascot. The company that still employs the security guard who killed Ballard has defended the deadly shooting by repeating a familiar refrain heard after shootings by law enforcement. “We fully, 100 percent stand by his actions because this was self-defense,” Kevin Ladd, vice president of the N.C. Detective Agency, told the Herald Sun . “In our eyes this is a tragic accident. It never should have gotten to this, but our officer was fearful for his life.” Ballard’s friends and family were adamant that breaking into cars was “out of character” for the physical education major. Students on Monday also questioned how sincere NCCU’s response to Ballard’s shooting was, seemingly trying to distance itself from the incident instead of sympathizing and empathizing. “The university is not associated with and does not have any contractual agreement with Campus Crossings, an independently-owned residential apartment complex,” NCCU said in a statement released Sept. 27. “The NCCU police department officers have no jurisdiction or connection with the Campus Crossings apartment complex nor with the security officer involved in the incident. NCCU does not endorse or recommend any specific rental property for students. Additionally, the university does not utilize the security services of the N.C. Detective Agency and does not hire any officers employed with this particular agency.” Ballard’s killing came amid a spate of violence on or near HBCU campuses. A man was killed Friday near the campus of Southern Universty in Baton Rouge. One day earlier, a Morehouse College student was carjacked and robbed of his belongings near the school’s campus in Atlanta. Three Florida A&M University students had a gun pulled on them in an elevator at an off-campus apartment building in Tallahassee on Sept. 10. The hunky star surprised a lucky (very, very lucky) audience with his presence when he introduced a special showing of the Creed II trailer for the first time. Jordan stars as Adonis Creed in the highly anticipated sequel directed by Steven Caple Jr. (who fills in for Ryan Coogler this round). Like it’s predecessor, Adonis faces the biggest fight of his life. But this time around, so much more is at stake as he faces off against the son of the man, Ivan Drago, who killed his father in the Rocky franchise. Adonis, who now has a child, struggles with balancing his family life and fulfilling his legacy. Jordan underwent intense workouts to achieve his Creed body, which well see on screen as well in a familiar Rocky-like essence. “It was tough on my body this time around,” Jordan told IGN , “cause I’m a little bit older. I n an apparent desperation move, former Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke took the witness stand Tuesday and said whatever he could to convince a jury that he was justified in gunning down LaQuan McDonald , a Black teen, nearly four years ago. See Also: LaQuan McDonald Trial Live Updates As Ex-Chicago Cop Jason Van Dyke Faces Life For Killing Black Teen Van Dyke, who’s white, wiped tears from his eyes as he gave testimony that contradicted video evidence in the case, the Washington Post reported. The ex-officer claimed that 17-year-old McDonald kept “advancing” at him waiving a knife, so he had to keep firing until the teenager fell to the ground. However, police dashboard camera video of the shooting shows McDonald walking away when Van Dyke fired 16 bullets at the teenager, continuing to fire even after the teen hit the ground. Van Dyke faces six counts of first-degree murder, 16 counts of aggravated battery and one count of official misconduct in McDonald’s death. The cover-up continues! Police officials faced allegations of covering up the shooting, with its account contradicting what dashboard camera video showed. On the evening of the incident, officers received a complaint about a suspect trying to break into vehicles, according to police officials. Two officers followed McDonald in their patrol car before calling for a backup officer who was equipped with a Taser. Van Dyke, one of the backup officers who arrived, allegedly got out of his vehicle with his gun drawn and started shooting as McDonald moved slightly away from him. The defense is expected to wrap up its case on Wednesday. Source: Diverse Images/UIG / Getty This past weekend, the biggest one-on-one B-Boy competition in the world, Red Bull BC One, went down in Zurich, Switzerland. The competition was started in 2004 in Biel, Switzerland to showcase the talents of B-Boys (also known as breakdancers by some media) across the globe. B-Boying is one of the celebrated art forms that stemmed from hip hop culture in the late 1970s, along with graffiti writing, DJing, and M.C.ing (now mostly known as rapping). The Red Bull BC One competition has shined light on some of the best dancers B-Boying has to offer and it’s taken place in cities like Berlin, Germany (2005), Johannesburg, South Africa (2007), New York City (2009), and Tokyo, Japan (2010), according to their site . With Zurich as its home in 2018, 16 B-Boys from across the globe battled it out for the 2018 championships. Red Bull also had their first ever Red Bull BC One B-Girl World Final competition for women wanting to prove their skills on the floor. According to Red Bull BC One , judges this year included dancers Benny, Tuff Kid, Junior , Taisuke and Wicket . B-Boys and B-Girls were judged on things like originality, the flow of their moves and the execution of dance skills such as top rocking, footwork, freezes and power moves. You can check out a breakdown of these skills in the clip below! By the end of the competition, Lil Zoo from Austria came out on top as the Red Bull BC One World Champion. He defeated Luigi , who represented the U.S., in an epic three-round final. Via @stanceelements … Ami from Japan took the crown of Red Bull BC One B-Girl World champion. She took on San Andrea from France in the final and won 3 to 1 revealed votes. Via @stanceelements … In between battles, rap duo M.O.P. took to the stage to get the crowd hype. The all-female dance crew Femme Fatale also showed off their skills with intricate choreography and beautiful stage presence. This was definitely a competition to remember.
