Source: Christopher Polk / Getty The first-week sales projections for Travis Scott ‘s freshly released album Astroworld have officially arrived, and it looks like La Flame is about to have an absolutely insane opening. According to reports from Hits Daily Double , the songs on the Houston rapper’s third studio album have been streamed over 100 million times. In terms of actual sales, the album is expected to move somewhere between 450-500,000 equivalent album units in its first week. That is an undeniably massive opening, especially when compared to the numbers Travis has pulled in the past. If these sales projections come to fruition, Scott will have more than quadrupled the first-week sales total of his last project, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight– which moved 89,000 units in its opening week. The album is loaded with features from big stars including Drake , Frank Ocean , and Stevie Wonder. This album and it’s release has been teased for more than 2 years at this point, which could be why it’s doing such huge numbers. In any case, it seems like Astroworld ‘s long-awaited release has not disappointed, at least as far as number go. We’ll find out for sure once the final numbers come in. Congrats to La Flame on the huge release.
Source: Andrew Lichtenstein / Getty A nail salon in Brooklyn is catching major heat after a video online has gone viral. At New Red Apple Nail in East Flatbush, a Black woman is caught on camera being hit with a broom by another woman in a black shirt. The Black woman being hit eventually walks out of the salon, while employees in smocks surround two other Black women in the corner. The groups yell at each other, and one employee even throws liquid at the Black women. You can watch the video for yourself here . According to Pix 11 , the whole incident occurred because a grandmother was dissatisfied with her eyebrow work and refused to pay the salon. The recording of the incident went up on Friday on Facebook and eventually gained over 700,000 views. Protesters started gathering around the nail salon on Monday demanding the business be closed and locals take their money elsewhere. Chants of “black dollars matter” were shouted amongst gatherers. Activist Jasmine Johnson says the liquid thrown in the video was acetone, the primary ingredient in nail polish remover. “So because she did not want to pay the $5 for her messed-up eyebrows, they attacked this grandmother and her two granddaughters with sticks, threw acetone on them and then called the police on them,” Johnson said. You can peep her commentary on the event and the protest below. Police said Monday that two arrests have been made. Huiyue Zhing, an employee, faces charges of misdemeanor menacing, misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon and harassment. She allegedly was the one who beat customer Christina Thomas with a broom, resulting in a laceration to Thomas’ neck and an injury to her back. Thomas also faces charges including misdemeanor assault, misdemeanor menacing and harassment. She allegedly punched and slapped someone, dragging them over the floor. Zhing was hospitalized with injuries to her face and body, while Thomas refused medical treatment, according to the police. Since the fight, hundreds of negative reviews have hit the salon’s Yelp page. We’ll continue to keep you updated if any major updates should surface.

Beyonce famously doesn’t grant interviews. But Anna Wintour of Vogue decided on the next best thing — she not only landed a Beyonce cover, she let Beyonce write her own story. In her words. On her second pregnancy: I was 218 pounds the day I gave birth to Rumi and Sir. I was swollen from toxemia and had been on bed rest for over a month. My health and my babies’ health were in danger, so I had an emergency C-section. We spent many weeks in the NICU. My husband was a soldier and such a strong support system for me. I am proud to have been a witness to his strength and evolution as a man, a best friend, and a father. I was in survival mode and did not grasp it all until months later. Today I have a connection to any parent who has been through such an experience. On embracing her body: I think it’s important for women and men to see and appreciate the beauty in their natural bodies. That’s why I stripped away the wigs and hair extensions and used little makeup for this shoot. To this day my arms, shoulders, breasts, and thighs are fuller. I have a little mommy pouch, and I’m in no rush to get rid of it. I think it’s real. Whenever I’m ready to get a six-pack, I will go into beast zone and work my ass off until I have it. But right now, my little FUPA and I feel like we are meant to be. RELATED: Beyonce’s Childhood Home Is On The Market RELATED: Cuteness Overload: Beyonce, Blue Ivy And The Twins Stunt On Vacation [PHOTOS] On kicking down doors for younger artists: It’s important to me that I help open doors for younger artists. There are so many cultural and societal barriers to entry that I like to do what I can to level the playing field, to present a different point of view for people who may feel like their voices don’t matter. Imagine if someone hadn’t given a chance to the brilliant women who came before me: Josephine Baker, Nina Simone, Eartha Kitt, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, and the list goes on. They opened the doors for me, and I pray that I’m doing all I can to open doors for the next generation of talents. If people in powerful positions continue to hire and cast only people who look like them, sound like them, come from the same neighborhoods they grew up in, they will never have a greater understanding of experiences different from their own. They will hire the same models, curate the same art, cast the same actors over and over again, and we will all lose. The beauty of social media is it’s completely democratic. Everyone has a say. Everyone’s voice counts, and everyone has a chance to paint the world from their own perspective. On her ancestry and marriage: “I come from a lineage of broken male-female relationships, abuse of power, and mistrust. Only when I saw that clearly was I able to resolve those conflicts in my own relationship. Connecting to the past and knowing our history makes us both bruised and beautiful.” On her legacy: My mother taught me the importance not just of being seen but of seeing myself. As the mother of two girls, it’s important to me that they see themselves too—in books, films, and on runways. It’s important to me that they see themselves as CEOs, as bosses, and that they know they can write the script for their own lives—that they can speak their minds and they have no ceiling. They don’t have to be a certain type or fit into a specific category. They don’t have to be politically correct, as long as they’re authentic, respectful, compassionate, and empathetic. They can explore any religion, fall in love with any race, and love who they want to love. I want the same things for my son. I want him to know that he can be strong and brave but that he can also be sensitive and kind. I want my son to have a high emotional IQ where he is free to be caring, truthful, and honest. It’s everything a woman wants in a man, and yet we don’t teach it to our boys. I hope to teach my son not to fall victim to what the internet says he should be or how he should love. I want to create better representations for him so he is allowed to reach his full potential as a man, and to teach him that the real magic he possesses in the world is the power to affirm his own existence. I’m in a place of gratitude right now. I am accepting of who I am. I will continue to explore every inch of my soul and every part of my artistry. Source: Jessica Alexander/Future Image/WENN.com / WENN Mac Miller is heavy on the press run to promote his fifth studio album Swimming , and that includes the requisite in-studio performance with NPR’s Tiny Desk . Miller ran through a funky, subdued three-song set, which was the first time he’s performed the records from his new LP in front of an audience. Miller opened up his set with Swimming ‘s first single, “Small World,” backed by Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner on the bass, Alexander “Justus” West on guitar, Javad Day on keys, Joseph Cleveland on bass, Kendall Lewis on drums, and a special string appearance from Robin Fay-Massie on violin, YaShauna Swan on second violin, Lelia Walker on viola, and Melaine Hsu on cello. With Miller largely taking the lead on all vocals, he got a little bridge help from Thundercat on his second song, “What’s The Use” to great effect for the album’s upbeat third single. The set ends with the triumphant “2009” and Miller had the good fortune of getting some last-minute help with the string section, showering the quartet of women for filling in for him as he couldn’t travel with a string section.
