Are You Here For It?! Instagram Will Start To Test Hiding Likes In The United States Next Week

Source: Photo credit should read DENIS CHARLET/AFP/Getty Image  Instagram To Start Testing A Private Like Count Just as they’ve discussed in the past, it looks like Instagram is finally expanding its test to hide likes for those of us in the United States . During the WIRED25 event on Friday, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced that a select number of U.S. users would see the like counts disappear from Instagram as soon as next week. He didn’t provide any further details on the scale of the test, but simply revealed it wouldn’t be “the whole U.S. at once.” “There’s a couple of hundred people in here, so definitely a couple of you will have private likes, I hope,” Mosseri said to the crowd. “It’s about young people. The idea is to try to depressurize Instagram, make it less of a competition, give people more space to focus on connecting with people they love, things that inspire them. But it’s really focused on young people. We have to see how it affects how people feel about the platform, how it affects how they use the platform…but I’ve been spending a lot of time on this, personally.” Earlier this year, Instagram started testing private likes among Canadian users, and they’ve since expanded the test to six other countries, which includes Brazil, Italy, Australia, Ireland, and Japan. With this new format, Instagram users will still have the ability to see which users liked each of their own posts, but the like count would no longer be visible to others.  These tests ended up being launched following concerns about social media’s effect on mental health. With that in mind, we might be getting “Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West” very soon. “Martin Luther King didn’t get killed because he had a dream; he had something else he was going to talk about,” said Yeezy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “He talked about black empowerment, economic empowerment,” said West. “When I did Forbes, I showed them a $890 million receipt and they still didn’t say ‘billionaire’. They don’t want us to know that we can buy land; they don’t want us to have the 100 percent ownership [that] I have at Yeezy.” “When people say it’s crass to call yourself a billionaire, I say I might legally change my name to ‘Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West’ for a year until y’all understand exactly what it is… It will be on the license plate.” SMH. Anteprima NYC Pop Up Showcases Emerging Designers

Fashion Pop Up Shop In NYC Highlighting Up & Coming Designers From Italy A new pop up shop in New York City is highlighting emerging Italian designers from the worlds of fashion, homewares and furniture. The Anteprima pop up shop in SoHo is stocked with vintage mid-century furniture, one of a kind pieces from up and coming Italian fashion brands and household goods traditionally found in family homes in the Mediterranean country. The space includes clothing from designers like Maxfort , whose goal is to make stylish sweaters and outerwear for the men’s big and tall market, and Vanise, which specializes in all things cashmere. Another standout is the belted winter coat from OPI[MO], which is reversible in both charcoal and slate grey. Besides clothing, Anteprima – which means “preview” in Italian – also sells graphic prints from illustrator Alfio Martire and 1960s and 1970s era furniture, including an Instagram worthy red couch shaped like ocean waves. Anteprima is located at 498 Broome Street in NYC and is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Nov. 10. 2019.
