According KTNV , when two officers, Benjamin Vazquez, 27, and Officer Patrick Campbell, 28, tried to stop him, he took off and eventually began running on foot. The officers were caught him and told Williams to get on the ground. While being cuffed, Williams told the officers he couldn’t breathe. The Las Vegas Sun reports an officer was heard telling him: “Yeah, because you’re tired of (expletive) running.” Williams was allegedly straddled by one of the officers, who had his knee pinned against Williams. “Pressure on your butt, that’s all,” said one of the officers. Williams continues to complain about not being able to breathe. “As they were taking him to the patrol car, Williams appeared to pass out. Officers called for assistance and the Las Vegas fire department arrived several minutes later,” KTNV reports. The 50-year-old later died hospital. Thompkin, who is identified as Williams’ stepson, claimed the footage the family saw was “doctored” and “that up to 40 minutes had elapsed between the traffic stop and images that he said showed his stepfather lifeless on the concrete, meaning that he didn’t die on the way to the hospital, as the family was told.” The officers were placed on routine leave as the family is asking for the investigation to continue. Source: John E. Sokolowski / Getty adidas reportedly has added another big name to its extensive list of celebrity influencers. TMZ caught up with the Nature Boy, Ric Flair and he announced he signed a deal with the iconic sportswear brand. Wooooooo, if true, Flair is going to be “stylin and profilin” in a pair of adidas for the rest of his life. The legendary wrestler broke the news to TMZ and wants to put Nike in the figure-four leg lock and make them submit to being number 2 if he has his way. He turned on the Flair swag while boasting of the new partnership and running off all the names who are already a part of the brand. Per TMZ : “Ready for the good news? Adidas thinks I’m ‘The Man.’ I signed a deal with them, and we’re fixin’ to make Nike the 2nd brand. It’s not gonna be Air Jordan anymore, it’s gonna be Air Flair, and I can’t jump.” “It’s gonna be Adidas, Woooooooo!!!” Naitch wouldn’t go into detail about exactly what the partnership entails, but he rattled off a few NBA stars he’s pumped to work with … and he took aim at Nike’s founder and chairman. “This is me and Damian Lillard. Harden, James Harden, who I love and should be the MVP. Nike’s gonna be [outta here]. We’re gonna fire a shot over Phil Knight’s bow.” While we are positive Nike isn’t really sweating at this announcement, color us intrigued at the idea of some of adidas classic silhouettes getting the Ric Flair treatment. We are still waiting for a statement from the German-based sportswear brand. If this does pan out, Flair follows professional gamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins who also announced a deal with the three stripes becoming adidas first individual Esports partner.— Photo: John E. Source: Danielle James / Hello Beautiful On Monday evening in Union Square, Maki Oh founder and designer, Amaka Osakwe presented her collection to a crowd full of editors, fans, and supporters. The show was a pan-African experience with guests represented from all over the world. I had the pleasure of going backstage before the show and it was a very hectic, sometimes tense, yet overall organized feel. The presentation itself was a beautiful illustration of Afromodern fashion. Source: Yuchen Liao / Getty The Lagos born designer continues to show that African designs are more than Dutch wax and animal print. The models varied in height, sizes, and age, illustrating that the clothes are created for a wide range of women (and men). who want thoughtful style. I loved the gender fluidity that wasn’t purposefully called out, but rather, just represented naturally. Source: Yuchen Liao / Getty I swooned over the pearl embellishments decorating a khaki colored blazer as well as on the hem of a black dress to update your LBD style. Source: Yuchen Liao / Getty Maki uses traditional West African techniques with modern silhouettes to create a head turning collection. Source: Danielle James / Hello Beautiful It’s been awhile since I’ve been to a show where every model loved their hair. Maki Oh utilized fabrics from her latest collection to intertwine them into one long braided ponytail for a statement look. Unlike her counterpart, Christian Siriano , this was truly a way to pay tribute to the culture and Black women who started the trend. The collection felt like a perfect fusion of West African fashion meeting European silhouettes and trends. On the cusp of the 10 year anniversary of Maki Oh, this collection was strong, relatable, and most importantly sellable. As fashion continues to evolve and consumers want more of a global feel, Maki Oh is providing prints and looks that won’t go out of fashion for years to come. Source: Hannah Foslien / Getty The NBA has gone through several stylistic changes over the decades, with athletes introducing their own flair to the standard uniforms at various intervals. However, those expecting the so-called “Ninja-style” headband accessory to gain traction will be disappointed to know that the league is banning the look ahead of the season. ESPN reports : Several players — including the Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler, the New Orleans Pelicans’ Jrue Holiday, the LA Clippers’ Montrezl Harrell, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns and the Brooklyn Nets’ Jarrett Allen — regularly wore the headgear a season ago. The NBA never had a formal process to approve the headgear, and allowed players to wear it during the 2018-19 season because, spokesman Mike Bass told ESPN, “We didn’t want to cause a disruption by intervening midseason.” The NBA notified teams in May that the headbands wouldn’t be a part of this season’s approved uniforms. The NBA’s competition committee discussed the headwear as part of its meetings in Chicago on Monday. A source told ESPN that some members expressed concerns on safety, including the looseness of the headwear. Source: Mike Coppola / Getty Chromat is one of the top shows I look out for every season. Becca McCharen always has an inclusive runway (that goes beyond size and color) and serves us edgy looks that we can’t wait to recreate for a big event like a birthday or a see and be scene party. While the fashion was top notch this season, it was all about the hair! TRESemmé NYFW Stylist, Odile Gilbert created a bubble ponytail for several of the models to strut down the runway. Gilbert explained that “this look is for a sporty, fun, confident woman who isn’t afraid to play with her style and express her creative flare.” We loved this bubble ponytail and know we will be seeing it more for both Fall 2019 and Spring 2020.
