Retro-soul songstress Kendra Forster released her new self-titled album today featuring her single “Promise to Stay Here”. Bossip recently chatted it up with the Grammy award winning artist about funkadelic music, her work with D’Angelo on Black Messiah, and addressing pressing social issues through song. When talking about her single, Kendra says that this song embodies the way many of us have felt over the course of our lives when we think we’ve found our “soulmate”. I think it’s really about that feeling that you feel when you at least think that you found the one or your soulmate or whatever it is and that feeling that you have especially if you feel that way about each other that you don’t wanna leave that. I wrote this song 7 years ago and I was touring 85%of the year with George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. And I had a long distance relationship with a young gent who was in school and really trying to find his way. I mean he was much younger than me by a few years. I was so in love with this person and I felt like they were the one. I’m always afraid of being the one left in love. So I was asking them to promise to stay here. I was promising to stay here. And then of course one finds themselves offering everything, the best of themselves in return. In their latest study conducted with Women on Web, a non-profit organization that provides the abortion pills mifepristone and misoprostol in countries where doctors don’t administer abortions, researchers focused on how the Zika virus affects the choices pregnant women have to make specifically in Latin America. The First Woman To File Suit Against The City Of Flint Shot Dead If Flint’s poison water doesn’t kill you, the violence will… Via NYDailyNews A 19-year-old Michigan mother who was one of the first to file lawsuits on behalf of the thousands of children poisoned by water in Flint was found shot to death this week. The body of Sasha Bell was discovered Tuesday night at Ridgecrest Village Townhouses in Flint, authorities said. The body of a second woman, Sacorya Reed, was also found in the home. Cops have not made any arrests or determined a motive. An infant was found uninjured in the apartment, but it’s not clear if that was Bell’s son. Sasha Bell’s lawsuit alleges that her 16-month-old son suffers from lead poisoning because of “corporate and government misconduct.” “She just wanted what was best for her son,” her New York-based lawyer Corey Stern told the Daily News on Friday. “She loved her son.” Beyond sad. A California State Senator wants to boost pay protection in the state by adding race to the current equal pay legislation. California already protects pay by gender, but Sen. Isadore Hall thinks a pay proposal regarding race is also necessary and is working to pass such a law. Hall’s proposal would be an addition to California’s current fair pay law that requires employers justify any pay discrepancies between men and women who do “substantially similar” work. KATU News Snake Head Found In Cans Of Green Beans A woman from Utah is claiming she found a snake’s severed head in a can of green beans according to KATU News . An Oregon distribution company has since stopped shipment of the canned vegetables as they investigate her claims and the claim of one other person. Troy Walker said she spotted the snake head after removing the beans from the slow cooker. Walker took a photo of the snake and sent it to Western Family, the company who’s information was listed on the food can. In a similar incident, Christi Smith reported to the Associated Press that she spotted cut up pieces of snake after cooking for her kids. Western Family, the company responsible for shipping them, says they’re working to fix this slithery blunder. A company representative says they’re working hard to find out where the remaining cans were shipped from and to pull them off shelves.
