Chatroulette’s Creator (And the Phrase "T*ts or GTFO") in The New Yorker

Filed under: Tech Chatroulette is famous for nudity, missed connections and weird pranks, but it’s also known for being created by a brilliant Russian teenager. Andrey Ternovskiy, the young founder of the chat site, has received plenty of media attention recently, but his best profile yet might be a New Yorker piece by Julia Ioffe. What happens when a site full of random naked weirdos meets one of America’s most respected periodicals? A whole lot of awesome. The New Yorker follows Andrey’s journey from selling trinkets to Moscow tourists to meeting with bigtime venture capitalists in New York and San Francisco. It’s a great story and it’s made even better by the retelling of some of the wackier stunts on Chatroulette so far, like Merton the piano improv guy and the “dancing banana.” Who ever expected the New Yorker to print the phrases “Dance or GTFO” and “T*ts or GTFO” and then explain that GTFO means “get the f**k out”? I didn’t, but you’ve got to love Chatroulette for making that happen. via:// Laughing Squid previously:// The Lighter Side of Chatroulette
