On lap nine, while trying to pass Dungey, Ryan Villopoto caused the two of them to crash. When they remounted, Villopoto moved into the lead and Dungey restarted third. After recapturing second place, Dungey set chase on Villopoto, but on lap 11, Villopoto had a hard crash and was unable to return to the race. In a wild night of racing in the Edward Jones Dome, Dungey survived a crash and a rapidly deteriorating track to win his fifth Monster Energy AMA Supercross of the season on the Rockstar/
