XKCD’s Color Survey Proves That Nobody Can Spell "Fuchsia"

Filed under: Science Fuscia? Fuschia? Fusha? Turns out that nobody but nobody can spell fuchsia (or “magenta,” as I call it just to be safe), according to a color survey by the author of popular geeky webcomic XKCD . Randall Munroe enlisted his readership to assign names to different colors and posted the very interesting results on his blog. On top of the fuchsia spelling fail, the 220,500 responses revealed some interesting info about the differences between men and women. The top 5 colors that were uniquely overrepresented among women’s choices were: 1. Dusty Teal 2. Blush Pink 3. Dusty Lavender 4. Butter Yellow 5. Dusky Rose Meanwhile, men tended to successfully identify the following colors: 1. Penis 2. Gay 3. WTF 4. Dunno 5. Baige Yes, “baige.” I hereby hang my head in shame on behalf of my gender.
