Following the Coke Super Bowl commercial that was slammed as unpatriotic because it featured various ethnicities singing “America the Beautiful,” along with the Cheerios commercial that received flak for starring an interracial family, Honey Maid has come out with a new “Wholesome” campaign ad. It is comprised of a gay couple, a single father, a guy with tattoos and, naturally, many graham crackers. The tagline? “Honey Maid, everyday wholesome snacks for every wholesome family.” Honey Maid Wholesome Commercial Said the senior marketing director for Mondelez (which owns Honey Maid): “We recognize change is happening every day, from the way in which a family looks today to how a family interacts to the way it is portrayed in media. “We at Honey Maid continue to evolve and expand our varieties to provide delicious, wholesome products so they can be a part of everyday moments of connection in a world with changing, evolving family dynamics.” Sadly, the backlash against this ad has already begun. “Saw graham cracker commercial where kids had 2 daddies. I’m shocked — but also angry — at how the homosexual spirit has gone mainstream,” wrote one Twitter user, while two Facebook followers added: Where do YOU stand on the ad?
