Earlier this week, millions of 19 Kids and Counting fans were shocked to learn that Josh Duggar was named in a sexual abuse case that had been successfully hidden from the public for over a decade. Details emerged rapidly, and we soon learned that Duggar was accused of molesting five girls , including his own sisters, and that his parents were aware of the alleged activity. Sources say Jim Bob Duggar “did what he thought was right” after learning of his son’s abusive actions and had a then-15-year-old Josh admitted to a facility to receive psychological treatment. Radar Online is now reporting that Josh spent four months at the Basic Life Principles Training Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. The facility was founded by Bill Gothard , the Duggar family’s former minister, who was forced to resign in disgrace after several female employees accused him of sexual misconduct. Many former employees and “patients” have spoken out against Gothard’s various facilities, and a recent report by the Indiana Civil Liberties Union described the Indianapolis center as “an appalling shadow world where these kids almost disappear.” “I really don’t remember the circumstances on why Josh came to our center,” says former director Harold Walker said, “He came down…they used to work at the center, the entire family did.” It’s likely that very few employees knew the exact reasons for Josh’s stint at the Little Rock center. While several Duggars have utilized Gothard’s treatment facilities in the past, there’s no record of any of them staying overnight, much less for four months like Josh did. TLC has confirmed its decision to pull 19 Kids and Counting from its upcoming schedule. With fallout continuing from the Josh Duggar child molestation scandal, the cable network has issued the following statement as it ponders what to do next about the reality show: Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of 19 Kids and Counting currently from the air. We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time. TLC had planned to air five episodes of 19 Kids and Counting throughout next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, as well as during the first week of June. They are now all off the schedule. The network had little choice but to make this move (and, in our opinion, to soon cancel the series outright) after Josh Duggar admitted yesterday that he molested multiple young girls. As detailed in a grisly police report, the incidents took place when Duggar was a teenager – and some of the victims were his sisters . “Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret,” Duggar said, adding: “I hurt others, including my family and close friends … I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation.” It remains unclear just what these steps entailed, but a new report alleges Duggar was treated at an institute founded by an accused sex criminal. The statute of limitations is now over, meaning Josh cannot be prosecuted for his alleged crimes. Fans quickly speculated that Jill not only gave birth in the hospital, but underwent a cesarean section, or c-section, during her unplanned visit there. Israel Dillard came into the world weighing in at a whopping 9 lbs., 10 oz. to boot, furthering the theory that it he had to enter the world via major surgery. That birth weight, while not unprecedented, would make a vaginal birth a challenge to be sure. Not like it hasn’t been done, but that’s a large infant. Appropriate, given that after nearly 42 weeks of pregnancy, Jill Duggar gave birth to a health baby boy not even 24 hours before the episodes aired! The birth of Israel came just in time, too. Jill’s pregnancy dragged on so long that the newest Duggar’s name was almost given away by the reality show! Derick revealed they had the name Israel David picked out a long time ago, even if they (obviously) kept that detail out of all their Instagram updates. If the youngster were a girl, she would be going by Saleah right now. Pretty. When the Duggars welcome a new baby, an older “buddy team” is assigned to him or her so that they can bond with that child and look out for them. Michelle, of course, was in her mid-40s and had 18 kids at the time. Anything can happen, Jill’s right, but the odds of her experiencing anything similar were much slimmer. Just the same, the Dillards paid very close attention. Meanwhile, with Jessa Duggar married to Ben Seewald and out of the house, the Duggar household needed organizing … and someone to organize the Duggars. Each child has a “designation,” or set of chores they are always responsible for, and with Jessa gone, Joy-Anna Duggar was designated as the designator. That did not make her the most popular Duggar on this night. Pregnant 19 Kids and Counting stars Jill and Anna Duggar gave us two precious baby bumps for the price of one in this latest Instagram photo. Jill’s husband Derick Dillard posted it to his account, beaming with pride: Clearly further along, Jill Duggar is expecting her first child next month. Anna is a seasoned veteran at this point, having cranked out three kids already with husband Josh Duggar, the first born of the 19 Kids and Counting . Between her mom, Michelle Duggar , and her sister-in-law, Jill has plenty of experience to drawn upon. She’s also a trained midwife by trade. Pregnancy is up her alley, in other words, and looks good on her, too. Anna and Jill Duggar are proudly flaunting baby bumps big and small as they eagerly await their due dates (Jill March 21 and Anna July 10). The “preggo sistas!” as they’ve named themselves, are all smiles. Jill has been one of the few Duggars to remain relatively free of controversy since the family profile has exploded thanks to their TLC reality show. Many observers were surprised earlier this week when the usually reserved Anna Duggar tweeted about Black History Month to criticize abortion. At least for this sweet moment, Jill and Anna are content to celebrate life – the ones growing inside them – without any political statement attached. For fans, the Duggar family of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting fame has long been a symbol for old-school Christian values and the virtues of family life. However, critics claim that there’s something much more nefarious going on behind the family’s wholesome facade, and now they may have found the proof. Testimony from several former cult members does not paint a pretty picture … In the past, the proud parents of those 19 kids, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, have publicly stated that they were followers of disgraced minister Bill Gothard . Before becoming involved in a sex scandal that brought down his career, Gothard was the leader of an organization known as the Institute of Basic Life Principles. Following allegations of harassment and claims that he helped cover up cases of child abuse, Gothard stepped down and several of his former followers have since spoken out about the leader who’s shaped much of the Duggar’s belief system: “I have no problem calling it a cult,” ex-IBLP member Micah Murray tells Radar . “What the Duggars are doing is putting Gothard’s philosophies on display as a positive thing, and they are not positive.” “From my experience, it has all the hallmarks of what makes cults so damaging – abusive authority structures, the way that people’s thinking and behavior is controlled, the way that people aren’t taught to trust themselves and trust their leader unquestioningly.” “I have seen a number of episodes [of 19 Kids and Counting] and it makes me very uncomfortable.” 9 Things BANNED in the Duggar Family 1. Dates Without Chaperones The Duggar parents often accompany their kids on dates in order to maintain “accountability” and “keep things from going in the wrong direction,” per Jim Bob. The girls are fine with this, as being alone with men puts them in grave “moral danger.” When the parents aren’t available, their older siblings will often tag along, making every date a group date and a family affair. “I think the Duggars are probably very nice people. I think they are very sincere people. But I think that the teachings of Bill Gothard are destructive.” Murray grew up in the IBLP and broke away from the organization at age 21. He says that seeing the Duggars’ method of raising their children brings to mind his own severely strict upbringing, during which he was forced to abide by a dress code and a bizarre set of rules regarding inter-sex interaction, in accordance with IBLP teachings. Kari Underwood is another former IBLP member who founded the organization Recovering Grace in order to expose the Gothard and his more destructive teachings. She says the Duggars are quite clearly victims of Gothard and company’s sophisticated brainwashing tactics. “They seem like a lovely family,” Underwood says. “I see the Duggars as sincere people as my parents were…I believe they have made some decisions for their family that are not healthy.” Underwood points to the Duggars’ strict courtship rules , as famously depicted at length on the popular reality TV program, being particularly problematic: 5 Duggar Family Dating Rules 1. It’s Called COURTING! Dating means you’re shopping around, says Jim Bob Duggar, while courtship is the path toward marriage. Courting is getting to know each other in a group setting, both families spending time together and the couple setting goals together to determine if they are meant to marry or not. “Bringing up your children in such a way that the father makes all the decisions, sons have no choices until they’ve moved on, women have no choices, it’s a hierarchy of protection. But it’s no protection.” She adds that the family’s decision to star in a reality show is the only manner in which they’ve broken from Gothard’s teachings, but that the leader is likely accepting of this choice, as it helps bring in donations.
