Let Me In and the Hows and Whys of the Remake

When it was announced a few years back that a U.S. remake of the Swedish preteen-vampire film (and indie hit) Let the Right One In was in the works, fans of the original let out a collective groan. Leave it to stupid Americans to refuse to read subtitles! The remake — to be made by Matt Reeves, director of the 2008 Cloverfield, as well as several episodes of Felicity — would certainly trample on the delicacy of this small Swedish gem.

Philip Seymour Hoffman in Jack Goes Boating: A Definite Grooming ‘Don’t’

Philip Seymour Hoffman is one of my favorite contemporary actors, and he’s perfectly charming in Jack Goes Boating, which is also his debut as a film director. Hoffman plays a shy, awkward New York limo driver whose friends (John Ortiz and Daphne Rubin-Vega) try to help him get his life on-track by fixing him up with an equally shy, awkward young woman played by Amy Ryan.

Project Runway Recap: Cut My Life Into Pieces. This Is My Best Resort Wear.

That might be the first time I’ve started a Project Runway recap with a Papa Roach reference , but it won’t be the last. (Kidding.) Michael Kors harassed the designers into making resort wear in last night’s episode, and in a twist, Tim Gunn raised his arm like a sorcerer and made everyone pair up to sew each others’ garments. Ivy devolved into a shrieking hedgehog for a change, and some of the others were insufferable too. Let’s see how it all went.

Warehouse 13’s Allison Scagliotti on Finale Teasers, Mad Men Influences and Playing SyFy’s Coolest Nerd

Claudia Donovan is Warehouse 13 ‘s techie-type character, the one who spends long hours cataloging stuff like Man Ray’s soul-sucking camera and P.T. Barnum’s top — and then fortuitously saves everyone’s life with a quick hack to her cell phone and a glancing pop-culture reference to boot. She’s just so likable! So don’t be surprised when her real-life counterpart, Allison Scagliotti, wins you over with some big spoilers for the Warehouse season finale and a name drop of her favorite Mad Men character.

Did Tony Blair Swipe Dialogue from His Character in The Queen?

Screenwriter Peter Morgan spent three films chronicling incidents in the life of former British prime minister Tony Blair, and the attention may have gone to Blair’s head. In his new memoir A Journey , Blair apparently swaps a real-life anecdote for one that Michael-Sheen-as-Blair had in Morgan’s The Queen .
