Academy: Jean-Luc Godard Will Accept His Oscar

This is just getting ridiculous: AMPAS issued a statement late Tuesday announcing that stroppy New Wave pioneer Jean-Luc Godard had not only sent a handwritten reply to news of his honorary Oscar win, but an acknowledgment that “schedule permitting, he would come to Los Angeles for the November 13 Governors Awards event.” Schedule permitting! Who’s he kidding? He probably booked that day for Hyundai maintenance weeks ago. [ Deadline ]
