Aaron Johnson Joins Spider-Man Casting Derby, Despite His Own Reservations

It looks like Sony may have taken a few of our suggestions for casting the Spider-Man reboot, as two new names have been thrown into the mix. According to the LAT , both Aaron Johnson ( Kick-Ass ) and Anton Yelchin ( Star Trek ) have squeezed onto the short list assembled by director Marc Webb. The irony? When Movieline last spoke to Johnson about assuming the role, he was decidedly uninterested.

What’s On: Miami Medical Goes Under

A harrowing aquatic mishap forces Miami Medical ‘s staff to buckle down on tonight’s episode. If hospital drama isn’t your milieu, Comedy Central’s got a brand-new comedy special starring one of the biggest post-millennial acts, and Friday Night Lights returns with a new, sure-to-be-under-appreciated episode. On VOD: Goooooooooooooooooal! (and Michael Jackson)

The World Cup is nigh — even I’m getting sucked in. Soccer movies, though, are rare and usually dire — except when they’re docs, and when they’re global, and when they focus on the game as real people play it, anywhere they can…

The Tangled Trailer: Pull Your Hair Out

Did you watch How to Train Your Dragon and think, “Gee, if only Disney had made this film, but without dragons and charm”? Then say hello to Rapunzel Tangled , the next non-Pixar film from Disney that will probably disappoint and lead to Cars 4 or Toy Story 7 . Wait, it’s in 3D? REVIEW: The A-Team Pushes the Action-Junk Envelope in All the Wrong Ways

The plot of The A-Team can be summed up thus: Stuff happens, connected by dialogue. Helicopters explode; human beings are nearly incinerated; trucks burst into flames. “Ha ha! Wow! You blew that thing up!” says Bradley Cooper, or Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, or Sharlto Copley — or maybe they all say it at once, though that would entail some extra coordination that’s probably beyond their grasp. Meanwhile, big-name star Liam Neeson looks on, trying to add some class to the joint, though even he seems to know it’s a losing battle.

Will Expendables Lose Its R-Rating?

Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables is supposed to be a tribute to the R-rated action flicks of the eighties, but according to Hollywood Elsewhere , Lionsgate is pressuring Stallone to revise the film for a PG-13. Dubbed-over curse words and fight scenes that cut away from brutal impalings? Now it’s a tribute to the USA network versions of the R-rated action flicks of the eighties. [ Hollywood Elsewhere ]

Dinner for Schmucks Makes a Later Reservation

The Paul Rudd/Steve Carell comedy Dinner for Schmucks has been pushed back from July 23 to July 30, where it’ll go up against Zac Efron’s Charlie St. Cloud . You may recall that the Vanessa Hudgens vehicle Beastly just moved out of that date so as not to pit the two lovebirds against each other. Why stop there? Efron should really get to work seducing Rudd in an effort to, uh, maximize his opening. (I’m sorry.) [ Deadline ]
