Restored Stephen Baldwin Hits Cannes For His New Oil Spill Documentary

Remember that SNL cold open from the 2008 campaign season, when Sarah Palin told Alec Baldwin to his face that born-again GOP darling Stephen was her favorite Baldwin brother? Odds are she’ll be rethinking that distinction now that Stephen has hit the Croisette to push his new documentary project about our insatiable — and reckless — thirst for oil.

Vanessa Williams Headed to Wisteria Lane

Vanessa Williams, who’s no longer vamping it up as Wilhelmina Slater on Ugly Betty , is taking up residence alongside the even shriller vamps of Desperate Housewives . Creator Marc Cherry says Williams will be a regular on the ABC primetime soap. If anyone can outsnark Teri Hatcher or outstare Marcia Cross, it’s got to be this gray-eyed dame. Anyone else suddenly feel like tuning in? [ EW ]

Still No Ghostbusters Sequel, But How About a No-Budget Remake?

The egos, age, money and cynicism thwarting any reasonable hope for Ghostbusters 3 clearly have a lot of people down. Just look at the sullen group of New York Public Library visitors in the video after the jump. What they need — what we all need, really — is a little reassurance that our appreciation isn’t misplaced. And as if on cue, it seemed to walk right through the front door.

Here’s Day One, the Expensive Series So Bad Even NBC Wouldn’t Air It

As NBC celebrates the birth of several new series at today’s upfront events in New York City, a few Peacock henchman are simultaneously tossing one of their most expensive shows into the East River. And unlike Heroes and Law & Order , which lived relatively long, full lives, this project — heralded at last year’s upfronts as addictive apocalyptic event television (with explosions!) — Day One never made it to air.

What’s On: Incensing with the Stars

Anyone still freakishly bitter — if unsurprised — that Niecy Nash was sent packing last week on Dancing with the Stars ? Sisterchild, I sure am. At least she was funny. Now we’re left with Chad Ochocinco to zap us with quips and buzzwords and chest clutches, and that’s not the same. At least tonight’s viewing options leave us with many decent alternatives, including the finest film ever about taking over a delirious recluse’s candy empire.
