Taylor Swift Locks Up ACM Victories with Adorable Cat Video

We can go ahead and hand the Academy of Country Music Awards for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year to Taylor Swift right now. Because she deserves them? Sure, probably. We are big fans of almost everything T Swizzle releases. But also because Taylor is downright adorable in a new video she filmed with her adopted kitten Meredith, during which Swift explains to her pet just what categories they are nominated for, along with the fan voting process for this April 1 ceremony. “Do you think that people should go and vote for us? Maybe?” Taylor asks her furry pal, and, let’s face it, we all know the answer to that question, don’t we? Taylor Swift, Cat Ask for ACM Votes

Dennis Quaid, Kimberly Buffington to Divorce

Dennis Quaid and wife Kimberly Buffington-Quaid are divorcing. According to documents filed by Kimberly , “The marriage became insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities … that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.” Kimberly is asking for spousal support and attorney’s fees. There is a temporary custody order in place, assuring that both Dennis and Kimberly each get time with their kids, and divides use of their residences. Kimberly is asking that all of their community assets be fairly divided. In Dennis’ answer to Kimberly’s petition, he says he wants her to get nothing. Both Dennis and Kimberly Buffington-Quaid, who married in 2004, are ordered not to say anything “vulgar, profane, obscene or indecent” to each other. In 2007, they welcomed twins, who nearly died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. after they were given a massive overdose of the drug Heparin. Morgan Freeman and E’Dena Hines: It’s Over?

Morgan Freeman has reportedly dumped his step-granddaughter, E’Dena Hines, for another young girlfriend named Ellie, according to tabloid reports. The story of the 74-year-old reportedly dating E’Dena Hines a few years ago. Hines, now 29, was even said to be a teen when they were first involved. That’s … probably not even true. But it was never denied, and the rumor stuck. However, it seems that the Academy Award winner has moved on from pursuing his own step-granddaughter to relationship to a younger Filipino woman. “Morgan rang in the New Year by planting a passionate kiss on his new gal Ellie, who’s an accountant in Los Angeles,” a source said. Friends believe the relationship could be serious because Morgan also invited Ellie’s mom and sister. “Morgan was having a great time,” the source says. “They kept kissing. They’re definitely an item.” Sure they are. Good to know.

Spencer Tracy Was Kind of a Dick

“When Tracy won Best Actor for his turn in Captains Courageous in 1938, he was unable to attend the ceremony. MGM said he was recovering from a hernia, which was the 1940s way of saying ‘hospitalized for exhaustion,’ if you’re picking up what I’m putting down. The studio arranged for Tracy’s wife to accept the award in his stead, as a gesture towards the supposed strength of their marriage. With all the audience fully aware of how Tracy had neglected and mistreated her, Mrs. Tracy walked the stage. But the Academy had a sense of humor: the award was inscribed not to Spencer, but to Dick Tracy. ROUGH. MGM would periodically force Tracy to ‘dry out’ after massive benders — not out of kindness, but so that they could force him to do his next film. During this period, he was living at the Beverly Wilshire and constantly on the prowl — one MGM exec purportedly claimed that ‘No one gets more sex than Spencer Tracy…..except Joan Crawford.'” [ The Hairpin ]

Jennifer Lopez Stylist on Revealing Oscar Dress: No Nip Slips Here!

J. Lo? More like J WHOA! That was the reaction many Oscar viewers had last night when they watched Jennifer Lopez saunter out to the stage and stand alongside Gwyneth Paltrow to present… the awards for something. We can’t exactly remember, considering the distraction of Lopez’s cleavage, as demonstrated both by her Academy Awards dress (left) and the gown she donned at the Vanity Fair post-party (right). Now, Mariel Haenn – the stylist for this American Idol judge – has come out and tried to silence talk that his client exposed her nipples to an audience of millions. “The Oscar dress was custom made for JLo…The dress fit perfectly to her every inch,” Haenn Tweeted. “There were cups built in and in NO chance that there were any, how do you say? ‘slips.’…jokes on everyone who thought they saw something.” J. Lo, of course, is no stranger to creating headlines for her fashion taste. Remember this catsuit on New Year’s Eve 2009?

Sean Young Demands Apology from The Academy Awards

Sean Young has come out and told her side of the story. The actress was arrested for battery outside The Governors Ball last night, after she allegedly refused to leave the premises and then slapped a security guard who touched her shoulder. But Young tells People she was “just standing by the line” outside the Academy Awards-sponsored event and not “bothering anybody” when the the commotion went down. “I started to leave and [the guard] grabbed my arm and he started pulling me,” said the actress , who claims she was on hand just to snap photos with celebrities for her Facebook page. “And I turned around and I was pulling my arm away – and I struck him.” Referring to the Academy, the former Ace Ventura star added: “They need to make a public apology on behalf of their security guard,” although the Academy says in a release that it played no part in the situation, stating: “There was an incident with Ms. Young outside the Academy’s Governors Ball. It was not the Academy who pressed charges.”

Can’t wait to see you next year. … … … Hello, everyone, and welcome to MTV News’ 2013 Oscars coverage. It seems like just yesterday that “The Artist” won big and took home Best Picture, but who cares about that movie anymore? That’s old news. This year is sure to be a huge year at the movies, and the nominees for next year’s Oscars are already lining up. MTV News has your first look at the likely nominees for the Academy Awards based on everything we know about the Oscars. Best Supporting Actor A rare, wide-open race this late in the game, Best Supporting Actor nominations could go to any number of great actors who were not great enough to be considered for the lead. The one lock at this point has to be Christoph Waltz for his work in Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained.” Waltz won an Academy Award for playing essentially the same character in “Inglourious Basterds,” but this time he’s a good guy. What could be bad about that? Best Actress Here’s a category already locked in a dead heat, with a wide variety of potential nominees vying for one of the five spots. The real shock here could be young Quvenzhan

Sean Young Arrested for Battery at Oscars Ball

And the award for Most Random Celebrity to Make News on Oscar Night goes to… Sean Young! The actress was booked on charges of misdemeanor battery last night after an alleged incident outside the Governor Balls in Hollywood, an annual Academy Awards party hosted by the Academy itself. Sources tell TMZ that Young was hanging out with friends near the entrance of the party when she was asked to leave because she didn’t have an invitation. When Young returned a short while later, a security guard placed his hand on her shoulder, in an attempt to escort her off the premises, when Young reportedly slapped him and was placed under citizen’s arrest until the LAPD arrived and took her into custody. Oscars 2012: My Night At Hollywood’s Biggest Show

Brad and Angelina’s wedding plan, talking to George Clooney and 3-D desserts are a few things we’ll remember about this year’s Academy Awards. By Josh Horowitz On the red carpet for Sunday’s Academy Awards Photo: MTV News So I guess this means the 2013 Academy Awards season has begun? I jest (kinda). But it seems like this past awards season lasted forever. I mean, it kind of did. Legit contenders had emerged by the time the Cannes film festival began last May. By now, I’m pretty sure the stars of “The Artist” are sick of the sounds of their own voices … I mean, if they had spoken in the film. You know what I mean. Last night was a fine sendoff to another fun awards season. I had a blast covering my fourth Oscars red carpet. It’s always a true privilege to be a tiny part of something I’ve been obsessed with since I was old enough to watch TV. One of the true pleasures of doing the awards season circuit for MTV News is getting a chance to talk to some of the folks I’ve worshipped from afar for years, and this go-round was no different. Last night, Christopher Plummer, Gary Oldman, Kenneth Branagh and Nick Nolte all stopped to chat with me on the carpet. The 14-year-old Josh is very impressed. And then there are the newbies. Rooney Mara, Jessica Chastain, even Shailene Woodley (unjustly looked over by the Academy) all were red-carpet regulars over the last few months and will surely be for many years to come. It’s hard to sum up a nearly four-hour red carpet in a few paragraphs, but here are a few select moments I’ll look back on with a smile from the 84th Academy Awards red carpet. George Clooney gets everyone excited. Perhaps the most embarrassing moment for me last night came when “Muppets” Best Song winner Bret McKenzie mentioned Clooney was nearby and I got embarrassingly excited. Like, too excited for a heterosexual man. Oh well, that guy is charming. Just take a look at our chat together. Choose your questions for Angelina Jolie carefully. Of course, it was Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who arrived last on the Oscars red carpet. Side note: Strangely, Christopher Lloyd arrived right around the same time. Anyway, Angelina was breezing by so the talk was quick, but damn, that lady is a movie star (I know, breaking news). She told me she thinks of her mom (now deceased) when she thinks of the Oscars since her Academy Award win was such a proud moment for her. Then, of course, I broke the mood by asking her if she and Brad planned their wedding to be a similar size as the Oscars. With a laugh she was on her way. Never got around asking her and Brad to adopt me. Wolfgang Puck serves food in 3-D. Who’s been going to the Oscars for 18 years and is always the most popular guy at the Governors Ball? Why, celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck of course. He was my first interview of the night and might have been my favorite. At least the oddest. I think we also had our first fight as Wolfgang explained to me that he was serving a 3-D dessert this year while wearing those silly old-school glasses. I insisted all desserts are in 3-D. There was tension. And begrudging respect. I think. You too can be nominated for an Oscar! OK, just to clarify, I’m not saying it’s easy to get an Oscar nomination. But when an honest-to-goodness friend of yours gets one, it rocks your world a bit. Anything is possible! In this case I’m talking about Andrew Bowler, an old acquaintance from years past, who made it to the big show with his wife Gigi Causey for their great short film “Time Freak.” Seeing Andrew enjoy his well-deserved big moment on the carpet was surreal and awesome. The movies are all about seeing dreams come to life, right? The MTV Movies team has the 2012 Oscars covered!
