Musical show takes home Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical, plus two acting awards. By Aly Semigran he cast of “Glee” backstage at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage For the second year in a row, “Glee” has had something to sing about at the Golden Globes. Fox’s pop-culture smash has emerged victorious yet again in the Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical category. In addition to besting the hit shows “Modern Family,” “Nurse Jackie,” “The Big C,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “30 Rock,” two of the show’s stars have taken home their first Golden Globe awards. While the show did not sweep — both Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison lost in their categories — it did win more awards than any other television show at the 68th annual Golden Globes. Stunned first-time nominee Chris Colfer kicked things off for “Glee” with his heartfelt speech, which he dedicated to his “fairy godfather Ryan Murphy” and to teens who, much like his character Kurt, are bullied. “The amazing kids that watch our show and that our show celebrates and are constantly told no [by] people and environments and bullies at school, that they can’t be who they are or can’t have what they want because of who they are,” he said, concluding his acceptance speech with, “Screw that, kids.” Next up was Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television winner Jane Lynch. The actress, who has now won a Golden Globe, Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award for her work on the show, had lost to “Big Love” actress Chlo

MRC-TV: Bozell Addresses PBS Editing Out Tina Fey’s Anti-Palin Jokes at Mark Twain Prize Ceremony

Upon receiving the Kennedy Center's Mark Train Prize for American Humor on November 9, comedian Tina Fey trashed Sarah Palin in her acceptance speech. By the time PBS broadcast the taped ceremony, the taxpayer-subsidized network had edited out some of Fey's harsher jokes that maligned the former Alaska governor. NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center founder Brent Bozell appeared in studio on today's “Fox & Friends” to address the controversy, lauding PBS for doing the right thing by making those edits. Gloria Borger Bashes Obama’s Teleprompter

Gloria Borger this weekend ridiculed Barack Obama’s dependence on his trusted teleprompter. During the opening segment of the syndicated “Chris Matthews Show,” the host was comparing the current White House resident to the late John F. Kennedy. After Matthews showed video clips of JFK and Richard Nixon during the 1960 presidential campaign, guest Dan Rather remarked, “I noticed in the acceptance speeches neither one of them used a teleprompter. You can’t imagine any candidate today going without a teleprompter for an acceptance speech.” Borger marvelously quipped, “Particularly Obama” (video follows with transcript and commentary):  DAN RATHER, HDNET: Well, I was thinking. Take ourselves back to 1960. We hadn’t had our first television campaign. We were about to have Kennedy versus Nixon. I noticed in the acceptance speeches neither one of them used a teleprompter. You can’t imagine any candidate today going without a teleprompter for an acceptance speech. GLORIA BORGER, CNN: Particularly Obama! Nice, Gloria. Makes you wonder how many others in the Obama-loving media feel uncomfortable with the President’s reliance on his teleprompter but just aren’t willing to say it when the cameras are rolling.

Washington Post: Independence Day an Atheist Holiday

Someone get Lee Greenwood on the phone; he’s going to want to know about this. In a front-page Style section report July 5, The Washington Post breathed a sigh of relief that Independence Day gives Americans a break from those God-heavy holidays like Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. “The trouble with most major holidays in the United States, if you’re an atheist, is that it’s difficult to ignore the ‘holy day’ etymology,” Monica Hesse reported. “But not the Fourth of July. The Fourth is a little deity-free celebration stationed in the middle of summer for believers and non-believers alike.” Finally, a break from those religious zealots Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Thank God. Hesse highlighted an annual gathering of atheists in Lorton, Va., a suburb of Washington, D.C. With tongues presumably in cheeks, the organizers promoted the event as “Ungodly Leaders to Gather at Potomac Picnic.” She defended atheists as misunderstood. “The most common misapprehension they encounter is that they must be immoral – that, lacking the promise or threat of an afterlife, they have no incentive to be good,” she said. “They atheists here find this particularly offensive, as they say they believe in kindness for the sake of kindness, making the most of the brief existence they believe humans are allowed.” Hesse illustrated the loving tolerance of atheists, and their acceptance for differing opinions and views. “‘I’m opposed to the illusion that there are really many difference between atheists at all,'” attendee Don Wharton was quoted as saying. “After all,” Hesse added, “they are here to celebrate the things that bind them together rather than the things that separate them.” What binds them together? Victimhood, according to Hesse. “Most of them have been told, at one point or another, that they are going to hell,” Hesse noted, “which, when you think about it, is a fairly pointless threat to an atheist, like warning someone that you’re sending them to Narnia.” Like this article? Tom Felton And Mark Wahlberg Are ‘Tight’ After MTV Movie Awards

Wahlberg apologizes to ‘Harry Potter’ star backstage after interrupting his acceptance speech. By Kara Warner Tom Felton Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage Between the random kisses, show-stopping performances and surprise appearances, Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards were full of wild and crazy moments. Chief among them was the presentation of the Best Villain award, which Samuel L. Jackson, Eva Mendes and Dwayne Johnson were supposed to present. They were soon interrupted by “The Other Guys” stars Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, swinging from the rafters on wires after what they said was a failed attempt to drop in on the presenters. While the failed pranksters were left to hang around, “Harry Potter” star Tom Felton took the stage to make a sweet-natured acceptance speech that Wahlberg and Ferrell unceremoniously heckled. After the win Felton, being the good-natured Brit that he is, took it all in stride and told MTV News that despite the awkward chastising from Wahlberg, the win was “the most surreal moment of my life,” he said. “I had Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell hanging above my head on a wire. So, yeah, I can’t know what to make of that.” Wahlberg then suddenly came up behind Felton during the interview and apologized. “We were only kidding,” he said, and patted Felton on the back. “Sorry about that, great job. … Thanks for being a good sport.” Wahlberg’s classy make-nice move left Felton a little giddy. “You’ve got that on camera, yeah? Evidence! We’re tight now!” he joked. “We’re thinking about [a rap album]. We got some TV shows we’re thinking about. He wants me to be on ‘Entourage.’ I said I’m not too sure about it. We’re tight. [Laughs.] I can’t believe it. Amazing!” Felton took to his Twitter feed to announce “a big thank you to mark wahlberg for co-writing my acceptance speech, we got together a couple of days ago and wrote that little skit.” Then later clarified that he was joking, and that he was “a bit stumped by the situation but did my best.” Felton’s fans were ecstatic about his win, briefly making the subject a Twitter trending topic at one point in the evening. Tracy, a commenter on the fansite Feltbeats summed up their collective enthusiasm with the following: “It’s about time someone from [‘Harry Potter’] won an award! I’m tired of these great films being ignored, especially when Tom [Felton] and others have worked so hard. I’m especially pleased for Tom because he is such a nice, polite, kind and caring young man and he richly deserves this award. You guys are great!!!” Relive the wildest, funniest and most-jaw-dropping moments of the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, watch revealing red-carpet interviews and get exclusive movie clips after the show at MovieAwards.MTV.com . Sandra Bullock Pulls Out of Movie Premiere, Fuels Jesse James Cheating Allegations

Might Jesse James truly be one of the biggest idiots on the planet? While we rarely buy into tabloid fodder, we have a new reason to believe this week’s In Touch Weekly report that states James has been cheating on Sanda Bullock with tattoo model Michelle McGee . Earlier today, the actress bailed on the London premiere of The Blind Side , which is slated for Tuesday. In a statement from Warner Brothers UK, Bullock says: “Due to unforeseen personal reasons, a trip abroad to support The Blind Side has been deemed impossible at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your continued support of the film.” We hope we’re wrong, but not exactly the words of someone with a strong marriage, are they? Bullock, one of the most beloved stars on the planet, took home the Oscar for Best Actress at this month’s Academy Awards and brought James to tears during her acceptance speech. “I’m so proud of her,” he said after the show “She deserves it more than anybody.” We’ll keep our eyes on this story as it breaks, but one more point of interest: James has canceled his Twitter account. Make of that what you will… and prepare to toilet paper James’ house if rumors of his infidelity are true.

US President Barack Obama receives Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo

Barack Obama, the US President, has accepted the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo but said others may be “more deserving” of the award. Obama defended the US record in Afghanistan President Obama, who earlier arrived in Norway with his wife Michelle, also defended the US record in Afghanistan and his planned surge of 30,000 military personnel as motivated by his desire to bring peace to the war-torn country. In his acceptance speech, he hit back at critics of his plan to begin withdrawing US soldiers from Afghanistan in mid-2011, saying he was “unambiguous” about the date and would debate it no further.
