In fact, there are few better indications of where one falls in the Hollywood hierarchy than how much the media cares when you bring a new life into the world. (We know that sounds cynical, but bear with us.) Back in October, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher had a kid , and the press was so hungry for a photo that the Kutch posted a bunch of decoys online. They’re A-list, baby, and they had an A-list baby. By contrast, Megan Fox welcomed her second son in February and, well…no one really cared. Okay, obviously her family and friends cared, but media attention was minimal because – let’s face it – Megan’s not as famous as she used to be, and she’s married to freakin’ Brian Austin Green, for some reason. Look, all babies are cute and they’re all a testament to the boundless potential of human life, so when we rank the biggest births of the year, we’re not talking about the kids themselves, but the accomplishments of their parents. It’s all about how much your pics bring in before that crucial first birthday, because this is Hollywood…where your last name is often your most valuable asset, and you can start cashing in before you learn how to walk.

Yes, the numbers for season 4, episode 8 of Game of Thrones are in, and the wildly popular series has officially surpassed The Sopranos as the most-watched series in HBO’s history. No small feat for a show based on a series of door-stop books written in a genre that was previously associated with anti-social nerds and aging cosplay enthusiasts. For its peak episode in 2002 The Sopranos drew in an audience of 18.2 million viewers. GoT beat that number for the first time last week with 18.4 million tuning in. Prior to the acclaimed mob series that launched in 1999, no premium cable program had ever amassed an audience close to that size. To put things in perspective, the much-ballyhooed Breaking Bad finale of last year drew a meager-by-comparison 10.4 million viewers and that aired on a network that doesn’t require a paid subscription. It’s a well-deserved honor for a show in the midst of what many critics consider its finest season to date. Of course, last week’s increase in viewership may have had something to do with episode eight’s much-anticipated Oberyn Martell vs. Gregor Clegane battle , but considering the writers left us with a cliffhanger, much of the record-breaking audience may hold on to see if the powers that be will carry out the execution of Tyrion Lannister on this week’s GoT. It’s a possibility that’s already inspired some epic memes: Whatever happens, the remaining two episodes of season 4 are sure to pack plenty surprises and continue to enjoy unprecedented popularity. Make way, Michael Moore! Move over, Morgan Spurlock! There’s a new documentary film-maker on the block and he’s half your size! Zachary Maxwell, 11, spent six months secretly filming the lunches being served at PS 130 in New York City. The food he was served may not have gotten many raves, but his covert expose’ “Yuck: A 4th Grader’s Documentary About School Lunches” sure has critics buzzing. Yuck – School Lunch Documentary Maxwell, at the encouragement and aid of his parents, used a hidden camera to record dozens of lunches served to himself and his classmates at his public school in New York’s Little Italy. While the menu descriptions read like those of gourmet restaurants, the reality on their trays left little to be desired. The New York City Department of Education responded to the film stating that they believe they serve healthy recipes and “delicious school meals that are low in fat, sodium and calories” and that they have “more than 1,000 salad bars in our schools to provide more healthful options to students.” Just not in PS 130, we guess? It’s an important topic in any case. The American Medical Association recently classified obesity as a disease , one which 17 percent of all U.S. kids suffer from. Maxwell’s 19-minute film, edited by himself and his father, has been shown at several film festivals already and will be screened at the Manhattan Film Festival on June 21. The 5th grader is quite proud of his accomplishments and is already working on his next project: A video yearbook of his class that each student will have as they all head off into the wild blue yonder of middle school. The budding filmmaker already has plans for that awkward period of his life, too.
