Jenny Lewis Accompanies Jake Gyllenhaal to Golden Globes

Sorry, Taylor Swift. We hope you weren’t watching the Golden Globes last night. Just a couple weeks after he reportedly broke the singer’s heart , Jake Gyllenhaal showed up at the event with ex-girlfriend Jenny Lewis. The star, who was nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical for Love and Other Drugs , walked the red carpet with his former fling, an actress who appeared in Troop Beverly Hills and Foxfire . That’s not an impressive resume. But, if this couple is back on, you’re looking at one impressive catch for Lewis. Look away, Taylor Swift! Just look away.

Robert Pattinson Gets ‘Hassled Too Much,’ Garrett Hedlund Says

‘He gets a lot of people following him around,’ ‘On the Road’ star say of fellow heartthrob at the Golden Globes. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Garrett Hedlund on the 2011 Golden Globes Awards red carpet Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage Garrett Hedlund has already scored some unforgettable memories on the set of his Beat Generation flick “On the Road,” but getting heartthrob tips from co-star Kristen Stewart’s rumored flame Robert Pattinson is not among them. MTV News caught up with the “Country Strong” actor on the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday (January 16), and while he admitted that they chopped it up when Pattinson popped by the “Road” set to visit his lady friend, he didn’t score any gems on how to handle his budding screen-idol status. “You’re trying to milk me for great little things; I got nothing on it,” Hedlund shrugged to MTV News’ Josh Horowitz. “He’d come out to set a couple times and visit. It was great.” The “Tron Legacy” actor had fun hanging out with the world’s most famous onscreen vampire, but added that he sympathized with all the attention Pattinson has to grapple with constantly. “People just sort of hassle him around too much,” he said. “He’s a good guy, real good guy, and he gets a lot of people following him around. It’s not an easy thing.” Aside from seeing the effects of “Twilight” mania up close, Hedlund recently dished that filming “Road” had some trippy moments, including the last night of production when the actor spent time with 89-year-old Carolyn Cassady, the real-life inspiration for the book’s character Camille. “She was just so wonderful and so genuine to all of us and so happy to be there. At the end of the dinner, me and Sam Riley … walked her hand in hand up to Vesuvio’s, the bar where all these guys used to drink at. I remember the sole of her shoe had sort of come undone and started flapping, but I took off my boot and took off one of the socks and put it over the shoe so it intacted the sole. So we kept on walking,” he said. “It’s such an incredible, mind-blowing night.” We’ve got the Golden Globes covered! Ryan Gosling Had ‘No Nerves’ Going Into The Golden Globes

‘We were in no danger of winning,’ the ‘Blue Valentine’ star tells MTV News of his Best Actor in a Drama loss. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Ryan Gosling Photo: David Livingston/ Getty Images The last few interactions MTV News has had with Ryan Gosling have been interesting, to say the least. Going back to January 2010, when we first had the opportunity to sit down with him and “Blue Valentine” co-star Michelle Williams, what should have been a serious conversation about a serious movie ended up introducing us to a new term: “cranking.” “It’s when you cry while you masturbate,” Gosling explained at the time. Now, ever since that fateful interview, it’s become a running joke, and we bring it up every time we encounter the Golden Globe-nominated actor. Case in point, the Weinstein Golden Globes afterparty, where we asked Gosling if he would be dealing with his loss in the Best Actor category to “King’s Speech” star Colin Firth by cranking. Gosling scoffed at that suggestion and insisted he has never cranked. “I never did crank,” he said. “I know you think that I did, but I didn’t.” Fair enough, Ryan. So in all seriousness, how did he handle the pressure of being nominated and then not winning? “We were in no danger of winning,” Gosling said. “So there were no nerves, no speeches to plan. Just [going] to have a nice night. I had a nice time — did you?” Gosling asked of “Valentine” writer/director Derek Cianfrance. “I had a very nice night, yes,” Cianfrance responded. “There was nice cucumber sandwiches on white bread. Little rectangles, finger sandwiches, I think. That was a good time.” “There was a menu,” Gosling added. “But no evidence of what was on that menu ever appeared.” We’ve got the Golden Globes covered! ‘The Green Hornet’ Buzzes To Top Of Weekend Box Office

Seth Rogen’s action comedy stings its way to first place, while Vince Vaughn and Kevin James’ ‘The Dilemma’ settles for second. By Josh Wigler “The Green Hornet” Photo: Sony Pictures Seth Rogen as a superhero? Michel Gondry directing a big-budget mainstream action flick? If you had asked a handful of movies fan a year ago whether those were good or bad ideas, most would probably lean toward the latter. Well, those same fans would be wearing green egg all over their faces today, as Rogen and Gondry’s “The Green Hornet” had a sharp enough sting to easily win first place at the box office this past weekend. The Sony Pictures action comedy overcame years filled with bad buzz to rake in $34 million during its first weekend in theaters. It’s not an astounding number given the production budget behind “Green Hornet,” but the action-packed and gut-bursting story of pals Britt Reid (Rogen) and Kato (Jay Chou) seems to have the kind of longevity that could sustain itself over the next couple of weeks. Indeed, the only action competition it faces over the next month are “The Mechanic” and “I Am Number Four,” the first of which premieres in two weeks while the latter arrives toward the end of February. That still gives plenty of time for “The Green Hornet” to leave its mark at the box office. “The Dilemma,” the controversial Ron Howard-directed comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, followed behind with $17.4 million in second place. Vaughn- and James-led films typically perform a lot higher — “Grown Ups” secured $40.5 million in its opening weekend in 2010 while “Couples Retreat” snagged $34.3 in 2009, and with the added ingredient of an Oscar-winning director at the helm, it’s a bit curious that the comedy didn’t meet the two leading men’s usual standards. “True Grit” continued to blaze forward on the ol’ dusty trail with a third-place finish that brings the Coen brothers Western’s grand total up to $127.4 million. Rounding out the weekend’s top five performers were “The King’s Speech” in fourth place and “Black Swan” in fifth, solid results that come hot on the heels of their respective wins for Best Actor (Colin Firth) and Best Actress (Natalie Portman) at the 2011 Golden Globes . The Box-Office Top Five #1 “The Green Hornet” ($34 million) #2 “The Dilemma” ($17.4 million) #3 “True Grit” ($11.2 million) #4 “The King’s Speech” ($9.1 million) #5 “Black Swan” ($8.1 million) Upcoming Releases Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher have “No Strings Attached” at the box office next weekend, while Ed Harris and Colin Farrell search for “The Way Back” in Peter Weir’s new film. Golden Globes Presenter Michael Douglas Gets Standing Ovation

‘There’s got to be an easier way,’ Best Actor nominee and cancer survivor jokes of warm reception at Sunday’s show. By Jocelyn Vena Michael Douglas receives a standing ovation at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards Photo: NBC/ HFPA Michael Douglas took the stage on Sunday night (January 16) to present the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Drama. Looking healthy and happy as wife Catherina Zeta-Jones looked on from the audience, the Golden Globe nominee made light of his recent battle with throat cancer. “There’s got to be an easier way to get a standing ovation,” Douglas joked about his warm reception. “Thank you all very much. I’m really very, very happy to be here tonight,” he added. Douglas went on to announce the winner in the category, David Fincher’s Facebook tale “The Social Network,” which took the prize over “Black Swan,” “The King’s Speech,” “Inception” and “The Fighter.” Earlier in the night, Douglas lost for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture to Christian Bale (“The Fighter”). He was nominated for reprising his role as Gordon Gekko in “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.” But in spite of the loss, it was a triumphant return for the Hollywood A-lister who recently underwent cancer treatment and just this past week announced on the “Today” show that he’s now cancer-free . “I think the odds are with the tumor gone and what I know about this particular type of cancer, that I’ve got it beat,” Douglas told host Matt Lauer, about six months after he first publicly revealed he had the disease. “I have to check out on a monthly basis now to maintain. I guess there’s not a total euphoria. I’ll probably take a couple of months of getting checked out. But it’s been a wild six-month ride.” We’ve got the Golden Globes covered! Golden Globe Awards Honor Glee, The Social Network, Call Out Gay Scientologists

Ricky Gervais kicked off the 2011 Golden Globe Awards by staying true to his vow to be more subversive than he was a year ago. Just ask Tom Cruise and John Travolta, at whom the comedian aimed this opening joke: “Also not nominated was I Love You Philip Morris , Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. Two heterosexual characters pretending to be gay. So the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists, then… Probably. My lawyers helped me with the wording of that joke. They’re not here.” And with that… the show was off! ‘Glee’ Star Chris Colfer Dedicates Golden Globe To Bullied Kids

‘Screw that, kids,’ Colfer says to anyone who doesn’t feel like they can be who they are. By Jocelyn Vena Chris Colfer Photo: NBC/HFPA When Chris Colfer took the stage at the Golden Globes on Sunday night to accept his prize for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, he had a major statement for anyone feeling like they don’t fit in. But, first, he made sure to thank the people who helped bring him to his Golden Globes win. “I think I just dropped my heart between Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, so if anyone sees that, please give that back to me,” he joked to the room, filled with Hollywood’s biggest names, as well as his “Glee” co-star Lea Michele, who cried as he accepted his award. “I can’t believe this. Thank you so much, Hollywood Foreign Press. I have to thank [show creator] Ryan Murphy for basically being my fairy godfather. Everybody at Fox, our amazing crew, who keep us sane and our very talented cast — you guys deserve this as much as I do.” Then Colfer, who plays Kurt on the hot Fox show, set to return with new episodes next month, had a message for bullied kids everywhere. “But mostly importantly [a thank you] to all the amazing kids that watch our show and that our show celebrates and are constantly told ‘no’ [by] people and environments and bullies at school, that they can’t be who they are or can’t have what they want because of who they are,” he excitedly told the room, adding, “Screw that, kids.” This is the first Golden Globe for Colfer. He beat out Scott Caan, Chris Noth, Eric Stonestreet and David Strathairn, who were also nominated in the category. We’ve got the Golden Globes covered!
