Brooke Mueller Leaves Sober Living House

While the downward spiral of Charlie Sheen continues to spin drunkenly , the actor’s ex-wife is getting her life back on track. Hopefully. Reports confirm that Brooke Mueller has left the sober living house into which she checked late last year. “Her treatment team felt that she is ready to leave and go back home,” a source tells Radar Online, adding that Brooke has since “been enjoying spending time with her twins.” Which is nice to hear. Because Sheen clearly hasn’t been. The insider says Mueller now has a “very positive outlook for the future.” The hardest part of the experience? “Being away from the boys every night. She hated saying goodbye to them every night. Brooke would spend all day with them and tuck them in at night and then go to the sober living facility.”

Matt Damon Recognized At Critics’ Choice Awards For Water.org Charity

‘True Grit’ actor receives Joel Siegel Award. By Aly Semigran Matt Damon accepts the Joel Siegel Award at the Critics’ Choice Awards Photo: Steve Granitz/ Getty Images While Matt Damon has taken the back seat to his “True Grit” co-stars Jeff Bridges and Hailee Steinfeld so far this awards season, the actor was acknowledged Friday night (January 14) by the Broadcast Film Critics Association during the 16th Annual Critics Choice Movie Awards for his humanitarian efforts. In a segment presented by Jimmy Kimmel and Emily Blunt, Damon was given the fourth annual Joel Siegel Award for Service to the Community. While Kimmel provided comic relief, joking that the Oscar winner is “the greatest guy in the world,” the actor received serious accolades for his charity, Water.org. Blunt, who stars with Damon in the upcoming film “The Adjustment Bureau,” explained that the organization Damon co-founded with Gary White helps to “provide developing countries with safe drinking water and sanitation by partnering with local communities.” As Blunt delivered the staggering statistics that less than 1 percent of the Earth’s water is drinkable and more than 1 billion people don’t have access to clean water, Kimmel continued to kid with Damon, telling him, “Sean Penn is actually in Haiti right now … carrying things!” Kimmel, who gets the last laugh at Damon’s expense every night on his late-night show, then cried foul on Damon’s many awards, mocking, “You know how much water he wasted in that shower scene in “School Ties”? A lot!” Damon, playing as good a sport as ever to Kimmel’s jabs, then took the stage to accept his award to a standing-ovation audience that included his “Good Will Hunting” collaborator Ben Affleck. After taking a shot back at Kimmel — “I literally have no idea why you’re here,” he quipped — Damon got serious about receiving what he described as “a wonderful honor.” The actor acknowledged the work of late film critic Joel Siegel, who, as Damon told the crowd, “Believed that you should use celebrity to improve the lives of others and he lived that way. So, I’m really honored to get this in his name.” Though plenty of the segment included joking around with Kimmel, Damon got very serious when he delivered the news that, “Every 15 seconds, a kid somewhere on planet Earth dies because they don’t have access to clean water and sanitation.” Calling that information “disgusting and unacceptable and unnecessary,” he added, “These are issues we’ve known how to solve here for 100 years in our country. … Just imagine if we cured AIDS tomorrow and in 100 years people were still dying of it, 3 million of them a year. It’s just really ridiculous.” Damon concluded his speech by thanking his partner, White, and informed viewers that by donating $25 on the Water.org website, they could give a child “clean water for life.” He then promised that they would change the fact that 1 billion people do not have clean water and offered to viewers, “Feel free to join us.” Related Videos Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Red Carpet Interviews Related Photos 2011 Critics’ Choice Awards Celebrity Candids 2011 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Show Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Red Carpet 2011

‘Dark Knight Rises’ Composer Doesn’t Want To ‘Just Go Over Old Ground’

‘I try to invent and reinvent,’ Hans Zimmer tells MTV News at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Hans Zimmer attends the 2011 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Photo: MTV News With the momentum from the incredible success of Christopher Nolan’s first two “Batman” films, “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight,” the mounting pressure and fan demand for details on the forthcoming “The Dark Knight Rises,” seems to increase every day. One need only glance at MTV News’ recent compilation of “Rises” rumors to see how creative people can be, as well as how thirsty fans are for answers. It’s just difficult to get them — even when we find ourselves face-to-face with credible sources — but any news is good news, even in the form of a “yes,” “no” or “maybe.” Case in point: Oscar-winning film composer Hans Zimmer, who composed the “Batman Begins” and “Dark Knight” scores and will finish up Nolan’s trilogy by composing the score for “The Dark Knight Rises.” When we caught up with Zimmer on the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards red carpet, we tried our darndest to get some “Rises” music scoop by tossing him a softball question: Has Nolan already involved Zimmer in the plans for the film? “Yes,” Zimmer said with a smile. “And that’s all I’m going to say.” So he knows the arc of the story and the villains, etc.? “Possibly,” he said. “I’m thinking, I’m working, and I can’t tell you anything more.” We pushed just a bit, asking whether his new score will incorporate themes from the first two “Batman” films and whether he’s thought about how to tie everything together. “Sure, but the thing about Chris and myself is, of course what we try to do is we treat each one with the economy it deserves,” he explained. “I try to invent and reinvent and not just go over old ground. I think that’s the thing that was so exciting for people on ‘The Dark Knight.’ They knew we were doing a ‘Batman’ movie, but they had no idea it was going to be that sort of a ‘Batman’ movie.” So is Zimmer already hard at work on the new themes for the score, even though nothing has been filmed yet? “Could be,” he teased. “Of course. Chris likes working that way, that I can give him music before he starts cutting. It’s very different.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Dark Knight Rises.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . But to a television network that cuts him a mammoth check every year? Not so much. At a press conference with reporters today, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler made it clear she has a “high level of concern” over the actor and his behavior. “This man is a father, he’s got children, so obviously there’s concern on a personal level,” Tassler said. “But Charlie’s a professional, he comes to work, he does his job extremely well… It’s very complicated.” Reportedly, CBS executives were contemplating some kind of intervention this week, following Sheen’s antics in Las Vegas , but the star’s lawyer wouldn’t allow it.
