Taylor Swift Breaks A Heart In Her ‘Back To December’ Video

Swift ends relationship with hunky lead in the Yoann Lemoine-directed clip. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Swift in the “Back to December” music video Photo: Big Machine Records What happens when you break the heart of a hunky-looking dude who resembles a “Twilight” character and you regret it? Well, if you’re Taylor Swift, it snows in your straight-out-of-an-Anthropologie-catalog bedroom as you write a breakup letter for your ex-beau. That’s the basic plot for Taylor Swift’s just-released “Back to December” video . In Swift’s clip for “Mine,” her lead single off her massive album Speak Now , the singer proved that she was no longer that girl who sang about proms and cheerleaders. Instead, she sang about finding love, getting married and having a family. Here, in her darker, more somber clip (despite all the early morning sun) for “Back to December,” Swift is breaking up with someone, an image we don’t usually associate with the singer. Looking almost sultry in bedhead hair, cozy sweater and a boyfriend T-shirt, Swift looks morose as she contemplates breaking it off with her good-looking boyfriend. Shots of the singer sitting in a bathtub clothed, sitting on her kitchen counter (perhaps a nod to the “Mine” video fight scene) and sitting on her bed singing the song are intercut with those of the actor who plays Swift’s love interest driving in his car, presumably away from Swift’s suburban mansion, and sitting alone on a football field, perhaps regretting letting Swift get away so easily. The video was directed by Yoann Lemoine, who did Katy Perry’s equally dreamy, equally girly clip for “Teenage Dream.” The video ends with Swift in her snowy home while the ex-boyfriend finds her breakup letter in his coat pocket as he sits alone in the bleachers. The song is rumored to be about the demise of Swift’s relationship with “Twilight” heartthrob Taylor Lautner . It’s to be noted that the video was released on January 13 — as Swift fans know, 13 is the singer’s lucky number. Snow has also been the theme in Swift’s live performances of this song, a natural fit given that the song is about December. What do you think of Taylor Swift’s new video for “Back to December”? ‘Glee’ Stars Stayed Up All Night For ‘Thriller’ Cover

‘It was probably one of the most physical numbers that we’ve ever done,’ Cory Monteith says. By James Dinh “Glee” cast films their “Thriller” performance Photo: Ramey Photo When “Glee” returns from hiatus in the high-profile post-Super Bowl slot, it’s returning in a big way, covering Michael Jackson ‘s “Thriller.” On Tuesday, the cast spoke to “Access Hollywood” about re-making the iconic tune, which will reportedly be mashed up with another yet-to-be-revealed hit. “It was a huge production. We we’re shooting that until 6:30 in the morning,” Cory Monteith told “AH” at the Television Critics Association press tour. “We shot all night, and it was probably one of the most physical numbers that we’ve ever done. I was lifting Naya Rivera at one point in the dance. It was really active. We had the whole USC band wrapped in to this number as you can see in the photos. It was awesome.” Photos of the cast filming “Thriller” surfaced on the Internet recently, depicting a prom night turned zombie affair. Jackson’s tune is just one of the many hits to be covered in the broadcast. Other songs featured in the post-Super Bowl episode include hits by the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry and Lady Antebellum. Kevin McHale revealed that Jackson is his “favorite artist ever” and that he has been continuously requesting to cover a tune by the late King of Pop. “I’ve been pushing very obnoxiously for a very, very long time, so I’m beyond thrilled that we do Michael Jackson,” said the actor. Like the iconic music video, the “Glee” cover was an extravagant production, which was just fitting for star Dianna Agron, who couldn’t help smile throughout filming. “The whole night, everybody kept saying, ‘Why are you laughing so much? Why are you smiling so much?’ ” she said. “I was just in my element. I was in huge makeup, huge hair, huge costume, the stuff that I loved the most, which is why I loved ‘Rocky [Horror Picture Show’] so much.” Matthew Morrison isn’t in the number, but he watched it being shot. “We actually shot it, like, a couple nights ago,” Morrison told “AH.” “I actually went out to see it. We shot it in Long Beach and at a high school that we used their football field at. It was stunning. It’s so weird with this show. We keep outdoing ourselves. It’s like, ‘What is there left to do?’ This number is just fantastic.” Related Artists Michael Jackson

Patton Oswalt Explains ‘Zombie Spaceship Wasteland’ Memoir

‘It kind of leaps around, but it tells a portion of my life,’ comedian tells MTV News. By Rick Marshall Patton Oswalt Photo: MTV News In “Zombie Spaceship Wasteland,” Patton Oswalt’s new essay-driven memoir, the actor/comedian argues that the question of which of those three categories we each fall under decides our destinies and the sort of people we become. Zombies simplify the world around them, Spaceships seek the new, and Wastelands … well, they destroy. For Oswalt, his own answer to that question was a long time coming, but after finishing the book, he’s now certain that he is, indeed, a Wasteland — and he’s not alone. “A lot of comedians are Wastelands,” he writes. “What is stand-up comedy except isolating specific parts of culture or humanity and holding them up against a stark, vast background to approach at an oblique angle and get laughs?” Though it’s the first novel from the geek-friendly actor, Oswalt has dabbled in writing on several occasions, including some recent work in the comic book world that had him scripting stories based on Joss Whedon’s “Firefly” universe (titled “Serenity: Float Out”). With “Zombie Spaceship Wasteland,” however, he turns the focus on himself in a series of short essays — some autobiographical, some fictional — that explore his evolution as a media consumer, creator, and, well, human being. “It kind of leaps around, but it tells a portion of my life,” he told MTV News. “Memories, to me, are more impressionistic rather than ‘This happened, then this happened, then this happened.’ If you think about it, they’re memorized differently depending on what age you were when you had them.” Regularly diverging into lengthy footnotes, off-topic asides and other digressions, “Zombie Spaceship Wasteland” doesn’t follow the conventions of standard autobiographical fare — a fact Oswalt says is a reflection of his own way of thinking and communicating, and something fans of his stand-up comedy will likely find familiar. He even goes so far as to list, at the end of each chapter, everything he did on the Internet while writing that section of the book. “That’s how I talk. When I say things, I’ll digress, so the best way to capture that was with a footnote,” he said of the lengthy notations in each essay. For Oswalt, the difficulty in bringing all the essays together wasn’t so much in finding good material, but deciding which stories to include and how to present them. In one of the longer essays, titled “Victory Tour,” Oswalt presents a diary-style account of the worst gig in his career: a 1994 stint at a comedy club outside Vancouver. In another essay, his memories of an eccentric uncle teach him something about himself and his values. “I had taken those notes so long ago,” he said of the “Victory Tour” chapter. “I didn’t know what I was going to do with them, whether I would turn them into a bit or a graphic novel or something. “The one that was the most satisfying to get down, though, was the one about my Uncle Pete,” he continued. “It got a little bit more real, and I uncovered some things about myself that I didn’t quite realize until I started writing it.” “Zombie Spaceship Wasteland” is on shelves now from Scribner Publishing. Dr. Conrad Murray’s Defense Plays its Hand, Insinuates Michael Jackson Did Himself In

After remaining mostly silent thus far, Dr. Conrad Murray’s lawyers laid some of the groundwork for their defense at his preliminary hearing today. He’s charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s death. Murray’s lawyer, J. Michael Flanagan, asked a Coroner investigator two questions: Was the IV bag of Propofol fingerprinted? Was it possible for Jackson to reach the syringes from the bed? The defense will argue that Jackson killed himself by accident as he grew frustrated when he couldn’t sleep and gave himself the fatal dosage. Propofol, a powerful anesthetic, is what killed Jackson. An investigator for the L.A. County Coroner’s Office said 12 bottles were found in his home. A pharmacist Dr. Murray used to order Propofol testified that the doctor ordered box after box of the drug in the two months before Jackson died. In all, Murray, the sole defendant in the Michael Jackson case , ordered 255 vials of Propofol in the two months leading up to the singer’s demise. It’s still very early, but this just makes Murray look …
