Season two of the hit FOX musical drama Star is already shaping up to be a good one. Not only were fans left with more than a few cliffhangers at the end of season one that they’re anxious to see resolved in the new season, but there have been several new cast members added to ensure it will be must-see TV and the latest is none other than Keke Palmer. Source: Noel Vasquez/Getty Images / Getty Now paired with mega-hit Empire on Wednesday nights, Star has high expectations as it enters its sophomore season and by the looks of it things are off to a great start. As reported by Shadow and Act , actress/singer Keke Palmer has just been announced as the newest cast member to join the show and her character sounds like she’ll fit right in with the rest of the girls. Via Shadow and Act: The singer-actress [Keke Palmer] will portray Gigi, a recording artist. The character’s description reads: “While alienating her current label, she is courted by Ayanna and the girl’s new label, Midtown records”, looking for “good producers and bomb ass records.” Last month, Luke James, Ellijah Kelley and Evan Ross were announced as recurring guests this season as well. Featuring a soundtrack of original music and music performances, “Star” follows three talented singers (played by Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O’Grady), desperate for a new start and with ambitions of stardom, as they navigate the cut-throat music business on their road to success. Palmer has become pretty comfortable at FOX in recent years, with star turns in both the recently cancelled Scream Queens from TV titan Ryan Murphy and the musical Grease Live! , so her joining Star makes a lot of sense. We've all witness the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. For millions who live in Houston and the surrounding areas of Texas to others along the gulf, this is a life-changing event. For the rest of us, we only need to check our phones or turn on the television to see the flooding and the suffering. People from all over the country (and other countries) are volunteering their time, money, resources, and expertise to help in any way that they can. That includes a number of celebrities who have donated to Houston relief efforts . Among these generous celebrity donors is Tyler Perry. We have his video below, and he's pledging $1 million to help Houston. Harvey has dumped a record-breaking amount of water on Houston. Yes, Houston is designed to flood. The roads are absolutely designed to catch water. But no city is designed for this much flooding. Especially not when it comes this quickly. We've seen streets turn into rivers so deep that they cover the tops of cars and trucks. Waves run across the surface of the water. That's how much we're talking about. We've seen homes and neighborhoods consumed by floodwaters. People have been swept away. People have drowned. People have been electrocuted. Some people are doubtless still isolated, or waiting to hear from loved ones. To say nothing of the countless heartbreaking stories of dogs who were separated from or abandoned by their humans. (Some dogs were even tied to posts, which you shouldn't do even when you're not condemning your dog to drown to death) This is a natural disaster but also a humanitarian crisis. Tyler Perry, the actor, writer, director, and producer who honestly doesn't need us or anyone else to explain who he is, took to Facebook yesterday to announce his pledge to help with the relief efforts. In the video, he talks about how much he's giving and how he's choosing to share his money. “This is about helping people, so if you want to give, I challenge you to find someone who has boots on the ground.” Note that he isn't suggesting something easy, like donating to the Red Cross. A number of people are leery of donating to the Red Cross after criticisms that Haiti still hasn't seen much of the money donated after their devastating earquake back during Obama's first term as President. The Red Cross has also been unable to clarify how much of what's donated to them right now will go directly to Houston. “I'm sending $250,000 to Lakewood, to make sure they can get all the supplies that people need, and I know for sure that they will. Also, I'm working with Beyonce's pastor [Rudy Rasmus], giving another $250,000 to Bread of Life to make sure that things are immediately getting to the people.” Tyler Perry also says that he is “saving $500,000 for other charities right now.” That is smart, because you don't always know what is immediately necessary. Some places have plenty of food, but need diapers or clothing. Other places have plenty of supplies, but need people with medical training. In addition to working hard to avoid charity scams (seriously, con artists will come out of the woodwork when there's a disaster and people want to donate), you need to see where the chips fall before you can determine where your money will do the most good. People physically on the ground (or in the water, in most cases) may be the best equipped to determine what needs to be done. Some celebrities, like Miranda Lambert, are just running their own relief efforts. Miranda has been rescuing dogs by the truckload and taking them to the safety of dry shelters outside of Texas. We're not going to pretend that Tyler Perry isn't problematic. He has a history of, especially through his films, making some alarming suggestions about things like HIV (which seem to be a curse). And though Tyler Perry himself is an abuse-survivor , he sometimes features abuse in his comedy. (Different people process their traumas in different ways, to be fair, but by using it for “physical comedy” he sends mixed messages) Even in this video, Tyler Perry defends Joel Osteen for not immediately opening the doors of his megachurch as a shelter. That's bound to be controversial. But we're going to give credit where credit is due, and Tyler Perry is putting a lot of money towards relief efforts and he's doing it in a very smart way.
Today, we thankfully have a happy ending to a story that could have easily turned tragic … Actor Donal Logue’s missing daughter is finally back home! It’s been nearly two weeks since 16-year-old Jade Logue was declared missing , and Donal has been doing everything in his power to get her back. The day after Jade went missing, he tweeted a description of her and what she was wearing, and that she’d last been seen at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. “Jade, we miss you and love you,” he pleaded. “Please come home. If you can see this, just know I love you and miss you dearly.” And from there, we all got seriously invested . In a heartfelt note he shared on Facebook last weekend, he explained that “There’s never been a more loving, innocent, cuddly child than Jade.” “I love her and who she is and her tribe is strong,” but he added that “there are some predators who swim among their ranks knowing they’re dealing with sweet, trusting souls.” “We want you home, Jade,” he wrote. “Whoever knows where she is, whoever may be with her — clearly this thing has become big and crazy.” “The net has been flung far and wide and luckily, I have dogged teams from the NYPD, FBI, and others involved.” He urged that whoever may have her or know where she is to “just drop her off,” or to get her in touch with either himself or her mother, Kasey, and “we’ll take her back, with hugs and no questions asked.” Donal specified that Jade was missing, that she didn’t run away, and just on Friday, he made another request for her to come home. “Jade, c’mon home, you sweet, beautiful soul,” he tweeted. “We love and miss you dearly.” But yesterday, his rep made the statement that “Jade is now safely back home with her family.” “Donal is incredibly thankful for everyone’s support, and especially to the NYPD, FBI and Team Adam NCMEC for her safe return.” Donal himself tweeted “Thank you ALL for the love and support. We are good. Kasey and I wish to thank the NYPD, FBI, @MissingKids and countless others.” So what happened?! Well, there aren’t many details about the story right now, and we don’t imagine the Logue family will be eager to share everything, at least not anytime soon. They’re more likely focused on Jade now. All we know is that she was found at a friend’s home in North Carolina, and that police say she was found “safe and sound.” And thank goodness for that.
Splash News The “Cash Me Outside” Teen Pleads Guilty To Multiple Charges Danielle Bregoli Peskowitz and her Caucasian mama marched into a Florida court today to plead guilty to multiple charges she racked up before her famous Dr. Phil episode. One of the charges is filing a false police report on her mother, where she accused her of using heroine. The other charges she plead guilty to are grand theft and possession of marijuana, according to WPTV reports. A judge will sentence Danielle at a hearing next month while her father, Ira Peskowitz, continues to fight for her custody. He says the 14-year-olds lifestyle is inappropriate. Apparently, she has a whole “management” team and it is out here flexing from coast to coast. Splash News Neither Danielle, nor her mother spoke with the media after the proceedings. I guess they’re going to keep it zipped until after the teens sentencing hearing in a few weeks. Good luck.
WENN People In Majorca Took Pictures With A Morgan Freeman “Look-A-Like” A man named Norman recently went on a vacation to the Spanish Island of Majorca. Apparently, everywhere Norman ventured on the island, people (you know, white people) flocked to take pictures with him, thinking he was Morgan Freeman. Yikes. Not only did resort goers and other vacationers think that this man who slightly resembles Morgan Freeman was actually Morgan Freeman, but the club he went to did too. They put up a picture of the actor on the screen with a caption that read, “Morgan Freeman in the house. Buy him a drink if you see him” can't believe i met morgan freeman in magaluf pic.twitter.com/3sxIssNXZB — Lucie (@lucieaust) June 27, 2017 Hahahaha that's so funny pic.twitter.com/JEftbOi5d6 — Charlotte (@ChaarNichollsxo) June 27, 2017 Apparently Norman was nice to everybody who asked to take pictures with him and just laughed off all of the encounters. The poor guy was just trying to enjoy a solo vacation, and now he’s a celebrity. Hopefully people really treated the man to some drinks on his night out. Salute, Norman.

Jared Martin, a veteran actor likely best known for his role as Steven “Dusty” Farlow on the beloved series Dallas , died on Wednesday night from pancreatic cancer. He was 75 years old. Martin’s son, Christian, has confirmed the sad news via Twitter and also to The Hollywood Reporter, telling the publication that his father passed away at home in Philadelphia. Farlow was a rodeo cowboy who seduced main character on the aforementioned drama, He actually perished in a plane crash… only to have producers resurrect his character by popular demand shortly afterward. As for the actor himself? Martin was born in Manhattan and attended Columbia University where he roomed future filmmaker Brian De Palma, who cast his pal in his 1968 film Murder à la Mod. “I played a mad photographer-murderer who liked to lick the blood off his victims’ bodies,” Martin told People Magazine way back in 1981, adding: “Brian used Hershey syrup for blood and paid me $35.” Martin’s impressive resume also included starring roles on two sci-fi TV shows: 1977’s The Fantastic Journey at NBC and a 1988-1990 adaptation of War of the Worlds, which aired in syndication. He signed on for just three episodes of Dallas Season 3 in 1979 as Dusty. But he became such a fan favorite that producers had no choice but to keep him around for longer than initially planned. “They brought Dusty Farlow on to make goo-goo eyes at Sue Ellen [Linda Gray], become moderately involved with her, tempt her and then she basically remembered who she was and went back to J.R. [Larry Hagman],” Martin said a few years ago in an interview for a Dallas fan site. The character was killed off in a plane crash to conclude Martin’s initial stint on the series. However… After J.R. Ewing was shot by an unseen assailant in what many consider to be the most buzzworthy season finale in TV history, viewer polls and Las Vegas oddsmakers made Dusty a favorite to be the answer to the question on literally everyone’s minds: “Who shot J.R.?” For this reason, the series brought Dusty back from the dead. “My agent said, ‘Get ready, they are going to bring you back,'” Martin said in the past, explaining: “I said, ‘How? I’m dead.’ My agent says, “Oh, this is Hollywood, they will think of something.'” HA! That remains the case today, really. Dusty would make an amazing recovery and even return to the rodeo circuit. Upon his retirement from acting, Martin co-founded and served as the creative director for the non-profit Big Picture Alliance, which brought the world of filmmaking to inner-city kids. He also spent his time as a painter and photographer after his acting days were over. Martin is survived by Christian, wife Yu Wei, and grandchildren. There was a time when the name Tom Cruise conjured images of a megawatt smile and a stack of phone books to make him appear less Hobbit-like in stature. These days, of course, when we think of Cruise, we’re more likely to imagine the Sea Org members chained up in his basement or the ultra-luxurious spaceship that they’re scrambling to finish building in time for the second coming of L. Ron Hubbard. Yes, at this point, Cruise is less “bankable movie star” and more of “prophet of the Spacelord Xenu.” His role as the face of Scientology takes up a lot of his time, and we’re sure it’s demanding work. Take one hard look at the husk of a man that is Sean Spicer, and you can see the toll that’s exacted by constantly trying to sell total BS to an increasingly skeptical population. But hey, Cruise can do what Cruise wants to do with his time. If he wants to spend his days having his thetans read and avoiding Suppressive Persons, that’s his deal. Unfortunately, it seems one of the SP’s that Tom’s been dodging is none other than his youngest daughter, Suri Cruise. As you’re probably aware, Tom’s divorce from Katie Holmes was a profoundly ugly one, as the actress sought not only to escape her marriage, but also the Scientology community, which tends to hold its adherents’ lives in a Mafia-like vise grip. She succeeded, but only because Cruise agreed to an arrangement in which he and Holmes would completely cut ties. Unfortunately, it seems that also means Cruise has cut ties with Suri . Last year, In Touch reported that Tom hadn’t seen Suri in 1,000 days . Now, the tabloid is reporting that that number has reached 1,346 days and counting . Cruise is currently traveling the globe to promote The Mummy, and his promotional tour recently brought him to within just 23 miles of Suri, who was in Calabasas when Tom was in LA. Sadly, the actor reportedly made no effort to see his daughter, instead hopping a plane to Australia to continue promoting the film. “Tom could have easily made the trip to see Suri. It only takes about 30 minutes without traffic. It would’ve only added a few hours to his busy schedule,” a source tells the magazine. The same insider notes that Tom has not been photographer with Suri since September of 2013. View Slideshow: 10 Stunning Tom Cruise Claims Leveled by Leah Remini
