Things have been a wee bit quiet where Jonathan English’s 13th century siege pic Ironclad is concerned, but with the indie action pic’s July release right around the corner Movieline’s got just the uber-gory clip reel to set your pulse racing. (And, perhaps, your stomach turning.) Watch out, Paul Giamatti ! The Knights Templar are coming for you.
Life handed us a traumatizing poster for Final Destination 5 , and we’re left to figure out why it’s so dumb and scary. Remember that horrifying Green Lantern poster featuring a yellow-eyed Peter Sarsgaard ? This is easily worse than that. Here’s our list of 10 images that the new poster conjures; please contribute your own and help paint a word picture with us.
Skids and Mudflap don’t actually appear in Transformers: Dark of the Moon , but you’d be forgiven if you thought they did. That’s not because Dark of the Moon is as hard to follow as the derisible Revenge of the Fallen , but rather because Skids and Mudflap are no less ridiculous as character names than Wheeljack and Ratchet — two Transformers who actually appear in the new film. In honor of this nonsense, Movieline has compiled a collection of 25 possible names for the Autobots and Decepticons in Dark of the Moon . Can you guess which are real? Take the quiz ahead!
When your last three movies combined cost nearly $550 million to make, a $20 million budget suddenly sounds… reasonable. Modest , even. So give Transformers auteur Michael Bay some credit for restraint with Pain & Gain , a real-life crime pic about bodybuilders-turned-criminals that he says he’ll direct next.
Oscar-winning Juno scribe Diablo Cody will make her directorial debut with Lamb of God , about a conservative woman who loses her faith and goes to Las Vegas to sin it up — which kind of sounds like Kristen Wiig’s character from Paul , only (let’s hope!) even naughtier. Cody also wrote the script and will re-team with producer Mason Novick, who produced Cody-penned films Juno , Jennifer’s Body , and the forthcoming Jason Reitman -directed comedy Young Adult . In an new interview with Sports Illustrated for the magazine’s “Where Are They Now?” issue, embattled warlock lover Charlie Sheen admits to using steroids before shooting Major League . “Let’s just say that I was enhancing my performance a little bit,” said Sheen. “It was the only time I ever did steroids. I did them for like six or eight weeks. You can print this, I don’t give a fuck. My fastball went from 79, to like, 85.” Contenders looking for bullpen help down the stretch might want to check-in on Sheen; dude’s got some free time. [ Sports Illustrated ]
On top of being one of the worst-reviewed filmmakers of all time, German director Uwe Boll is many things: the possessor of a doctorate in literature, an author, an avid boxer (who has literally knocked out his critics ), a recipient of the rare Razzie “Worst Career” award, an outspoken adversary of Michael Bay, a non-chewer of Stride gum (the company supported a petition for him to retire in 2008), an unwavering believer in his own “art” form. And judging from the five minutes Movieline spent with him during Tuesday’s press event for BloodRayne: Third Reich — the straight-to-DVD third film in his BloodRayne franchise — Boll is also a current-events buff with an affinity for George Clooney movies and small, fluffy dogs.
It has been a complete year since Starz pulled the plug on Party Down , and creator Rob Thomas refuses to give up hope on reuniting Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Lizzy Caplan and Martin Starr for a big screen adaptation. “People are talking to us about doing a Party Down movie,” he said. “We are pretty far down the deal-making process with that, so we’re hopeful that there will be a Party Down movie. Ideally, if it works out we could be shooting in television hiatus time next spring.” Are we having fun yet ? [ SlashFilm ]
Kevin Pollak’s highly entertaining and extremely long The Kevin Pollak Chat Show invited on screenwriter Damon Lindelof and allowed him to monologue freely about Star Trek , Cowboys & Aliens , and — perhaps most notably — working with Ridley Scott on Prometheus , and how the film relates to Scott’s seminal sci-fi work. If this show weren’t so damn intoxicating, it might’ve been a chore to get to the Alien(s) -related story. Fortunately, that’s not the case. Full transcription and video after the jump.
