Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp Discuss ‘Perverse’ Humor

Actress tells MTV News she agrees with ‘Tourist’ co-star’s assessment. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Angelina Jolie Photo: MTV News Johnny Depp recently shared with Vanity Fair that his “The Tourist” co-star Angelina Jolie has a very specific sense of humor. He told the magazine that his lovely leading lady in the film, which opens Friday, has what he calls “a wonderfully kind of dark, perverse sense of humor.” Noting that she was very “normal,” Depp likened Jolie’s personality to that of a certain screen legend’s, one that is a fitting choice, given that she’s rumored to assume the role of Cleopatra : “I’ve had the honor and the pleasure and the gift of having known Elizabeth Taylor for a number of years,” he says in the magazine. “You sit down with her, she slings hash, she sits there and cusses like a sailor, and she’s hilarious. Angie’s got the same kind of thing, you know, the same approach.” When MTV News caught up with Depp, we tried to get him to clarify what he meant. He explained, “It can go in many directions. There’s a degree of certainly sophomoric kind of humor, but that always leads up to some sort of, unfortunately, some degree of scatological kind of interpretation.” While that didn’t really clear up what exactly makes Jolie such a jokester, the actress admitted to MTV News that Depp’s claim is valid: “It’s true. I will agree.” So, does Depp also have a perverse sense of humor? “Yes, he does,” Jolie revealed, adding that figuring out which of them is more perverse “was a part of the question during the film, but I don’t know if it was completely answered. That’s a whole other interview.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Tourist.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Khloe Kardashian Compares TSA Screenings to Rape

Consider Khloe Kardashian among those who believe new TSA screening procedures are far too invasive. The reality star isn’t alone in that opinion, but she may have taken her opinion too far during an interview with George Lopez last night. “They are just basically just raping you in public,” she says in the following video. “The people are so aggressive… they say, ‘OK, I’m going to be patting you down and I’m going to be touching the crease of your ass.’ That is so inappropriate!” Khloe Kardashian on Lopez Tonight Of course, no Kardashian interview could ever take place without the topic turning to vaginas . In this case, Khlo

Amber Heard Comes Out As Lesbian At GLAAD Event

‘The injustice of people staying in the closet is more than I can bear with a clear conscience,’ actress says. By Jocelyn Vena Amber Heard Photo: Todd Williamson/ WireImage Amber Heard is a rising Hollywood star thanks to roles in flicks like “Zombieland,” “The Stepfather,” “Pineapple Express” and the forthcoming Johnny Depp flick, “The Rum Diary.” But it’s her personal life that’s making headlines at the moment after the actress recently opened up about being a lesbian. The actress and her girlfriend, Tasya van Ree, walked the red carpet together at the GLAAD 25th anniversary party in Hollywood on Friday, making her sexuality public. She spoke about the decision to AfterEllen.com , saying, “I’m honored to be a part of GLAAD. I’ve long been a fan and long wanted to be a part of an organization as powerful, as influential and as important as GLAAD. I am acutely aware of the role that the media plays in influencing public opinion and influencing society, and with that awareness comes the burden of responsibility.” The actress went on to explain that her decision to come out has a lot to do with the fact that she doesn’t want anyone to feel like their sexuality is something to be ashamed of. “It’s hard,” she admitted. “I think GLAAD is one of the many reasons that I, as a 24-year-old, can come out. I think that organizations like GLAAD make that possible, because if it weren’t for opinions being changed, people being influenced, people being engaged to do the right thing, then there would be no prerogative for anyone to come out. Like I said, I can’t be a part of the problem. I hate the idea of a label just as much as anyone else, but I’m with who I’m with, I love who I love and I’m if not a better actress than I was yesterday and my personal life should have no effect on that. “I think that the injustice of people staying in the closet is more than I can bear with a clear conscience, and I couldn’t sleep at night if I was a part of that problem, if I was part of the lies,” she added. She then took a moment to praise her photographer girlfriend. “She’s so beautiful,” she gushed. “I mean, you’d have to be crazy not to want to go out with her!” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Kate Bosworth Calls ‘Warrior’s Way’ ‘Hodgepodge’ Of Genres

‘You have cowboys and ninjas, and clowns and babies and Westerns,’ actress tells MTV News of new flick. By Kara Warner Kate Bosworth Photo: MTV News Those who’ve seen the trailers for “The Warrior’s Way” may be confused as to what genre the highly stylized actually fits into. Turns out there are so many things going on even the film’s stars are finding it difficult to categorize the ninja/Western-style flick. “I suppose I’ve been sort of describing it as outside the box,” Kate Bosworth told MTV News. “Even reading the screenplay was a really unique experience, and that is what really excited me about the film,” she said. “I’ve never read anything like it before, so the idea of an audience never seeing a film like that before is always an initial thrill going into making a movie.” Bosworth described the film, which opened on Friday (December 3), as a cross-culture, cross-genre extravaganza. “Visually, it’s just so beautiful,” the actress said. “You have cowboys and ninjas, and clowns and babies and Westerns, and it’s just a hodgepodge of excitement happening in this movie.” Speaking of excitement, Bosworth experienced plenty on set, particularly during her character’s fight sequences and the training required to execute them. “I would’ve liked to have had more time [training], to be totally honest with you, because this film sort of happened really quickly,” Bosworth explained. “It was sort of one of those things that you read and everyone came onboard and then you’re flying to New Zealand and training and trying to keep up, and then shooting. “I trained as much as possible, obviously, because I wanted to be prepared,” she added. “The sequences are so intricate. They’re more of a dance with the other actor than a fight, even. So it was almost like learning ballet, I think, more than martial arts.” “The Warrior’s Way” also stars Danny Huston and Korean superstar Jang Dong Gun. ‘Black Swan’: The Reviews Are In!

One critic gushes that the psychological drama and its star, Natalie Portman, are ‘unmissable and unforgettable.’ By Eric Ditzian Natalie Portman in “Black Swan” Photo: Fox Searchlight Only folks in eight select major metropolitan cities across North America will have a chance to see “Black Swan” this weekend. And as for the weekend after that, unless you’re a proud resident of, say, Detroit or happen to be swooping into St Louis for a little holiday, you’ll still be out of luck. The rest of the country will have to wait a full two weeks from now, as Fox Searchlight slowly rolls out this Oscar darling about the ultra-competitive world of professional ballet. Is it any consolation to say that even if you can’t see “Black Swan” this weekend, you can at least read the thoughts of those who have? Well, you can, because reviews for Darren Aronofsky’s follow-up to “The Wrestler” have been pouring in. Here’s what the critics are saying about “Black Swan.” The Story “Nina Sayers (Natalie Portman) has obsessively perfected her flawless technique at an unnamed New York company for years when she’s finally considered for the lead in an upcoming production of ‘Swan Lake.’ As her manipulative artistic director, Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel), observes, Nina possesses all the innocence and self-control of the Swan Queen, but his ‘stripped-down, visceral’ version of the ballet demands that she also portray the Black Queen. She’s a sinuous, primal persona he doesn’t think Nina can pull off. It’s difficult to disagree: With her breathy whisper of a voice, cosseted home life with overprotective mother Erica (Barbara Hershey) and wide-eyed sexual na

Angelina Jolie Hits Backs Against Bosnian War Movie Criticism

‘There’s one person who has a gripe,’ actress says of war victim’s complaint. By Eric Ditzian Angelina Jolie Photo: Toni Passig/ WireImage After initially seeking to ease tensions with a Bosnian women’s group that has raised concerns over Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut , the actress has now spoken out against the group’s leader and called her worries out of touch with mainstream opinion. The Women Victims of War and its leader, Bakira Hasecic, have been speaking out against Jolie’s untitled film — and a purported storyline in which a rape victim falls in love with her captor on the eve of the 1992 war — leading this week to Hasecic’s declaration that she intended to file a complaint with the United Nations refugee agency. Speaking with Reuters in Paris, Jolie hit back against the criticism. “There’s one person who has a gripe,” Jolie said. “The absolute majority of the people, population, the cast, prime minister, president have been extremely supportive,” she explained, adding that the vast majority of the film’s crew had lived through the war, which lasted from 1992 to 1995. In October, Jolie struck a much more conciliatory tone regarding Women Victims of War’s concerns, saying in a statement, “My hope is that people will hold judgment until they have seen the film.” But after Hasecic’s group filed a complaint with the UN, for which Jolie is a goodwill ambassador, the actress-turned-director has become more pointed in defending herself. Previously, a rep for Jolie denied the movie contained any plotline about a rape victim falling in love with her rapist. In her October statement, Jolie said, “There are many twists in the plot that address the sensitive nature of the relationship between the main characters, and that will be revealed once the film is released.” Jolie told Reuters she initially planned to pen a screenplay focusing on the often delayed international response to international conflicts, but that her research led her to focus on the former Yugoslavia. “It kept leaning toward Yugoslavia at the time, I wanted to learn more about it and the people, the more I read and learnt, I was drawn to that part of the world,” she explained. “I met artists from that part of the world and found they were extraordinary for what they’d gone through, so I wanted to give them a platform.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

‘So disgusting,’ still-squeamish actress tells MTV News of filming scene. By Kara Warner and Irene Lee, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Natalie Portman in “Black Swan” Photo: Fox Searchlight “Black Swan” has been generating awards-season buzz for months, much of it focused on Natalie Portman’s chilling performance as a self-destructive and psychologically unstable ballerina, Nina Sayers. When the movie opens this Friday, audiences will finally get to see the physical and emotional extremes that Portman portrays onscreen. One of the more memorable physical moments involves an especially graphic scene in which Portman’s character is masturbating and nearly gets caught by her mother.
