No one can accuse Bret Michaels of mailing anything in. The Poison rocker took his first elimination from Celebrity Apprentice : All-Stars personally and less than gracefully the other night, breaking down off camera. Bret reportedly was “stunned” by the “brutal” elimination. No one expected him to have a meltdown like that.” “Bret went into the show believing he was going to win again,” a source close to the star said. “He could not believe he was let go so quickly.” “It was brutal to watch him freaking out the way he did.” Michaels, who was playing on behalf of the Life Rocks Foundation-National Philanthropic Trust on the NBC reality show, turns 50 this month. Randy Blythe, lead singer of the heavy metal band Lamb of God, was reportedly found not guilty of the manslaughter of a fan’s death in a Czech court. The 41-year-old and the rest of his band performed at a club in Prague in 2010 where the fan in question is said to have attempted to invade the stage. After falling from it, the fan injured his head, fell into a coma and later died. Blythe was arrested in December 2012 when he returned to the city for a scheduled gig, accused of having pushing the 19-year-old man from the stage. He steadfastly maintained his innocence on all criminal charges. The singer pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and this week, a Czech court is said to have agreed that he was not responsible for the death of the man. We’re glad he can put this ordeal behind him at last.
In the latest issue of Vanity Fair , Taylor Swift blasts the media for how she’s portrayed as desperate, clingy and promiscuous in relationships. But the singer also saves some venom for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, referencing a joke those hosts made at January’s Golden Globes about Swift’s love life. According to The New York Post : The latest edition of the a research journal has challenged the stereotype that adult film actresses have poor self-images and a history of sexual abuse. A report suggests that the stars have higher self-esteem, a better quality of life and body image, and are more spiritual than their non-adult entertainment counterparts. Researchers at Pennsylvania’s Shippensburg University, Texas Woman’s University and the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation compared 177 porn actresses to a sample of women matched on age, ethnicity, and marital status. Comparisons were based on intimate behaviors and attitudes, self-esteem, quality of life and drug use. Sun News reports that the actresses in the study had all been paid to work on at least one adult film movie and ranged in age from 18 to 50. Their average career in the industry was 3.5 years. Results showed that the adult film actresses were more likely to say they enjoyed intercourse — no surprise there — but perhaps contrary to popular notions, adult film stars weren’t any more likely to have had endured abuse than those in the control group. However, some of the results confirmed popular stereotypes. For example, the actresses reported using more drugs than the control group while they also reported having intercourse for the first time at a younger age (15) than the control group (17). “Stereotypes of those involved in adult entertainment have been used to support or condemn the industry and to justify political views on adult films, although the actual characteristics of actresses are unknown because no study on this group of women has been conducted,” the report said. The study has been dismissed by feminist commentator Dawn Foster, however, who says the results have disregarded some of the adult industry’s seedier aspects. “It is dangerous to generalize about a huge industry: women who are successful and in control of their careers in one pocket don’t speak for women in the less scrutinized parts,” Foster said in the Independent. “The study’s main objective seems to be to prove that not all women in adult films are exploited: no one has argued that. Helena Bonham Carter’s upcoming turn as Miss Havisham in Mike Newell’s adaptation of Dickens’s Great Expectations is going to be a decadent one: In new photos from the film (set to debut in fall 2012), the Oscar nominee is fully made up as the manipulative spinster from the literary classic, and she’s wearing an original design by costumer Beatrix Aruna Pasztor. Though Carter appears younger than other actresses who’ve played Miss Havisham, the photos are just as crazy you’d expect. And sinister. Casting has begun for the second season of HBO’s ever-expanding fantasy epic Game of Thrones , and speaking of ever-expanding, among the actresses joining the series there are some HARDened nude veterans. Dutch dish Carice Van Houten , who bared some excellent Van Hootage in Black Book (2006), is the nudest, followed by Captain America: The First Avenger’ s Natalie Dormer, who got some practice baring royal rackage on The Tudors .
