And when she sat down to chat with Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” Monday night, the late-night talk-show host got the pint-size “Jersey Shore” star to open up about her nice Italian beau. “I’m actually really nervous tonight because my boyfriend’s watching,” she laughed. “I don’t want to say the wrong thing and have us get into a fight or something.” Snooki said that before she decided to settle down with Gianni, she did have some reservations since she has amassed fame and doesn’t want guys to date her for the wrong reasons. “That’s why I was really nervous. [I was] like, ‘Is this guy really for me?’ ” she explained. “But he respected me and he was nice, so I liked him. He’s actually going to school to be a gym teacher and he’s a wrestling coach for little kids. “His family is awesome. They do Sunday dinner all the time. They’re a great family. I can only make grilled cheese. That’s all,” she joked. It’s a big week for Snooki. Not only does she welcome a new roommate into the “Jersey Shore” house, fellow “party girl” Deena, when the season kicks off Thursday, but she also has a novel out, the aptly titled “A Shore Thing.” She noted that while the characters are similar to her and JWoww, everything in the book is made up. “[It’s] very exciting,” she said. “It’s just based on things that are in my head, like made-up stories.” Snooki also opened up about her pre-fame jobs, which included retail. “I was working at Filene’s,” she recalled. “I was a cashier. I was in [the] old women’s [department]. I was like, try this flannel sweater on. I actually quit because I went into work one day really, really drunk from the night before and I went to my boss, ‘I have a really bad eye infection, I cannot stay here.’ And I got fired.” The new season of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
