T.I. ‘Flirting’ With B.o.B Joint Album Idea

The album would be called The Man and the Martian, Tip reveals to MTV News’ Sway. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway T.I. Photo: Shade 45 Jay-Z and Kanye, Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″, Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame: Could T.I. and B.o.B be next? Since Tip’s release from prison in September , the Atlanta rapper has been keeping busy in the studio, churning out collaborations with the Throne , Young Jeezy, 2 Chainz and Big K.R.I.T. But T.I. tells MTV News’ Sway that fans may hear a lot more from him and Bobby Ray. “We been goin’ in. We’re actually flirting with the idea of doin’ an album together called The Man and the Martian, ” T.I. said when he appeared Wednesday on Shade 45’s “Sway in the Morning.” “We just been compiling material, he and I together, and it’s coming out real good.” As far as deciding who is the man and who will play the martian, T.I. left things open. “Well, we interchange,” he explained. “We can do role reversal, we have the morphing ability.” Collaborative rap albums are a definite trend and while T.I. admits that he has been inspired by the Throne, and Em and Royce, he said he has always wanted to do a combo album with another artist. “Of course they did inspire me, but I always have wanted to do a collaborative album. Even back when Jay did that with R. Kelly,” he said. “I spoke to Usher about doing one of those before; the stars and the moon hadn’t aligned appropriately.” T.I. revealed that he first spoke to Usher about doing a joint LP back in 2007 or 2008, and though it didn’t materialize, the MC would still be down to tackle the project. The Grand Hustle CEO was also very clear that none of the aforementioned plans has gotten past the idea stage. “Even this, this is a conversation that we had, this is an idea,” he said about the possibility of a B.o.B record. “It’s not set in stone, it’s not concrete as of yet.” Catch MTV News’ Sway Calloway on “Sway in the Morning,” on SiriusXM Radio’s Shade 45 , Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon ET. Milton Bradley Accused of Threatning to Kill Wife

Milton Bradley stands accused of doing a lot more than merely chasing his wife around with a baseball bat, the act that got him arrested on domestic violence charges last month. In documents obtained by TMZ, Monique Bradley has filed for a restraining order against her husband, following the aforementioned September 27 incident. She claims the former MLB outfielder picked up a photo of a weapon during the confrontation and said: This is the gun that I’m going to kill you with. He also allegedly referred to her as a “dumb bitch” who is “fat, ugly and lazy.” Monique says she has lived in fear for months, even taking the couple’s sons to a hotel in January after another altercation. She adds that Milton has been “emotionally and physically abusive” throughout the marriage. So, why did she stick around? “I genuinely believed that one day I could fix him,” she writes, but now “I am very fearful that he will … try to harm or even kill me.” A hearing is scheduled for October 25 regarding a permanent order of protection.

Lloyd Banks 20 Songs Into His Next Album

‘I completed my situation with EMI and going right back to the drawing board,’ G-Unit MC tells ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lloyd Banks and Sway Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News Lloyd Banks still hungers for more. Last year, the G-Unit rapper dropped his third album, The Hunger For More 2, and during Wednesday’s “RapFix Live” one-year anniversary show , Banks revealed to host Sway that he is well into the recording process for his next album. Whether it will come out on EMI, where he released his last LP, is uncertain. “I’m in between situations now. I completed my situation with EMI and going right back to the drawing board,” LB said. “I’ve been working constantly to just make music for my mixtape series and, at the same time, for my next album. I’m about 18 to 20 records into my next album already.” Actually, Banks was just being modest. While he is getting ready to release his Cold Corner 2 mixtape in the coming weeks, he told Sway that he has quite a few tapes already completed. “I got a couple of mixtapes done. Actually, I had the Cold Corner done for a second, but I just put it off because I could,” he said nonchalantly. “I needed more time to work on everything else. I didn’t want to keep on givin’ ’em a date, givin’ ’em a date and pushin’ it back like it’s an album.” Banks is quite confident about the tape: “It’s a mixtape at the end of the day, but it will be the best mixtape that comes out, hands down, this year.” With all the tracks he has already recorded, fans can surely expect a handful of collaborations. Banks didn’t reveal any upcoming features, but when a fan tweeted a question, asking if the Queens, New York, spitter would partner up with onetime G-Unit foe Nas, Banks couldn’t say for sure but didn’t rule it out. “I don’t know,” he said. “I’ll be down for it, though. Nas is a legend.” Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ Anniversary Special With Lloyd Banks, Consequence, More Related Artists Lloyd Banks

T.I. Returns To Halfway House

Tip set to be released from the facility on September 29, lawyer confirms to MTV News. By Rob Markman T.I. (file) Photo: Moses Robinson/ WireImage T.I. is halfway home. After being sent back to a federal lockup on August 31 — just as he was making his way via luxury tour bus to a post-jail facility — T.I. has now been cleared to finish the remainder of his 11-month sentence in an Atlanta halfway house as originally intended. On Thursday (September 15), the rapper’s lawyer, Steve Sadow, told MTV News that Tip is currently in the halfway house, where he will remain until September 29. If all goes according to plan, the ATL rapper will have completed his current prison bid for a probation violation that stems from a September 2010 arrest for drug possession . “[T.I.] went through a disciplinary hearing held before the ‘Center Disciplinary Committee’ (composed of Community Corrections-halfway house-staff) who recommended that he be returned to the halfway house,” Sadow confirmed in an emailed statement. “We have good reason to believe that this favorable result was reached because of the pro-active and assertive approach taken to protect T.I.’s rights by providing [Federal Bureau of Prisons] officials and the media with reliable and accurate information that T.I. did not intend to violate his transfer furlough or any other [Federal Bureau Prisons] rules en route from the prison facility in Arkansas to the halfway house in Atlanta,” Sadow told TMZ. “T.I. will be released from the custody of the [Federal Bureau Prisons] on September 29th, and then will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for a period of one year.” Last month, the B.O.P. allowed Tip to provide his own transportation from the Arkansas prison where he was being held to the aforementioned Atlanta halfway house. The Trap Muzik MC’s decision to ride in a luxury tour bus was widely reported as the reason he was sent back to prison; several sites said the bus was deemed an unacceptable mode of transportation. Upon his arrival at the halfway house, T.I. was taken back into federal custody. Last week, TMZ published an incident report that clarified why T.I.’s first trip to the halfway house was actually cut short. According to the report, T.I. was on the bus last month with his wife, his manager and two VH1 producers. His manager and the television producers, however, were not authorized to be aboard the vehicle. The document also suggested that T.I. was conducting business during the interstate ride — a violation of his furlough. Still, Sadow contended that his client hadn’t violated any previous agreements and that the disciplinary committee agreed. Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: T.I. Blink-182’s Neighborhoods: Death And All His Friends

We review Blink’s long-awaited, decidedly dark comeback album, in Bigger Than the Sound. By James Montgomery Blink-182 Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Sometime around 2003, Blink-182 decided it was time to tack their dirty joke doctorates to the wall (presumably in their respective offices, which is where everyone’s degree eventually ends up) and press on as a more serious-minded outfit. The reasons behind that decision were many — the new perspective that comes with fatherhood, a decade spent on the road, recording with Robert Smith — though, truth be told, their somber new suits never seemed to fit, mostly because, at that point, they were best known for putting porn stars in their videos and giving their albums titles like Take off Your Pants and Jacket and Enema of the State . Of course, in the eight years since their last album, a whole lot has changed. Blink-182 splintered in 2005 , subsequently sparred in the press , attempted to conquer the world with non -Blink projects , endured the deaths of longtime producer Jerry Finn and close friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein , and in late 2008, drummer Travis Barker was seriously injured in a plane crash that killed four, including two of his associates. Needless to say, they’ve earned the right to be serious. And on their long-awaited Neighborhoods album (due September 27), they take full advantage, cramming the past 96 months of doubt, darkness and death into just 49 minutes — that’s the running time of the deluxe edition — and doing so quite convincingly. For the first time in their career, Blink seem comfortable in those somber suits. Sadly, it’s because they’ve worn them to so many funerals. Lyrically, Neighborhoods is the bleakest thing Blink have ever done, haunted by specters both real — depression, addiction, loss — and imagined. Death is a near constant, showing up in songs like the thundering “Natives” (“Maybe I’m better off dead”), the crunching “After Midnight” (“Standing close to death”), and the snarling “Hearts All Gone” (“Let’s drink ourselves to death”). Shoot, even first single “Up All Night” is highlighted by a corker of a chorus: “All these demons/they keep me up at night.” There’s a reason the first song on the album is called “Ghost on the Dancefloor”: Neighborhoods feels less like a rock record than it does an exorcism. Sonically, it’s practically nocturnal, melding the electronic flourishes of Mark Hoppus and Barker’s +44 project and the laser-light grandeur of Tom DeLonge’s Angels & Airwaves into a sound that recalls nothing so much as dark streets and black expanses, mostly of the suburban variety (the field behind the 7-Eleven, the cul-de-sac illuminated by the single streetlight, etc.). Even the chords — and there are a lot of them — are dark, as if DeLonge has dipped his Epiphone in ink. Hoppus’ bass booms ominously and Barker’s backbeats are skittering, scraping and downright scary in parts. That said, it’s not all doom and gloom. Blink still know how to write a walloping chorus, and, much like the chords, there are a lot of them on Neighborhoods. In most instances, they provide brief respites from the general bleakness: “Wishing Well” has DeLonge going “la-da-da-da-da,” the hook to “Love Is Dangerous” is practically buoyant, and, of course, there’s the aforementioned “Up All Night,” which booms and crunches like the Blink of old. And speaking of the old Blink, well, they’re largely gone here (the synthy, star-smattered opening of “Ghost on the Dancefloor” serves notice of that fact). But given everything that went into Neighborhoods lengthy gestation — it’s the rare album that took so long to come out that it actually contains a song, “Kaleidoscope,” about how long it took to come out — you can certainly understand that transformation. Blink have grown up, mostly because life forced them to, and willing or not, that maturity fits. Neighborhoods is a deep, dark, downright auto-biographical effort, and when Hoppus sings “Hold on, the worst is yet to come” (on the bopping “MH 4.18.2011”), you don’t really believe him. The worst is over. It’s all good from here on out. Related Artists blink-182

REVIEW: Deep Cast Can’t Make The Debt Pay Off

No one comes out looking good in The Debt , a grim thriller from director John Madden: Not the Nazi purveyor of concentration camp atrocities, which is a given, but not the trio of young, dedicated Mossad agents sent to bring him to justice after the war either. The film’s a remake of a 2007 Israeli effort that never made it to US theaters, but that presumably carried with it a sense of self-critique, of taking on national mythologizing. Forgoing that focus, The Debt comes across as critical of human nature in general, as a tale of self-interest winning out over the greater good. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, particularly when the character who first offers up this assessment is the aforementioned Nazi monster.

Swedish House Mafia Tease Batch Of New Singles

Steve Angello tells MTV News that the famed Swedish trio just want to take a creative approach to dropping new material. By Akshay Bhansali Steve Angello Photo: Getty Images After impressive remixes of Swedish House Mafia ‘s last single, “Save the World,” by dance music acts like AN21 and Max Vangeli, Alesso, and Zedd, whose fiery mix MTV News premiered exclusively last month, the house music production trio of Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and Steve Angello have so far teased only two new originals this summer. And really, only one of these new gems has been well-documented, starting with Axwell spinning the dark track at Club Papaya in Croatia in July. Sure, the in-demand collective has been busy touring, but save for Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso debuting their new single “Calling” on Friday (August 12) on the BBC’s “Essential Mix” with Pete Tong, it would seem the three Swedes have devoted their summer to performing rather than hitting the studio. When MTV News caught up with Steve Angello recently, though, he told us nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, Angello revealed, SHM have more than 15 songs ready to go, but the group is toying with how to release their new material. “This is the thing … we have a lot of records,” Angello confessed. “We have singles; we have all the material to make an album. But it’s like, do we want to stick with the traditional album ways or do we want to do something different? And I think, as Swedish House Mafia works, I think we do something different.” As for the aforementioned “dark” single Axwell played earlier at a live show, Angello couldn’t confirm whether it would be the trio’s next release. “It’s one of them. … It’s another record,” Angello said. “It’s pretty f—ed up, but it’s good energy!” In addition to working on their own material, fans of the three Swedes will be tickled to hear that they’ve also been producing records for two major pop stars. But, of course, they aren’t ready to reveal just who yet. “A lot of people came through this year,” Angello said. “After the success of, ‘One,’ and ‘Miami 2 Ibiza,’ we got hundreds of requests to work with people. We chose very few to work with. We’ve done some work with a very, very big artist. We’re producing [some of] another artist’s album. It’s been an amazing trip for us. I can’t tell anybody’s name yet.” While we couldn’t get names, MTV News did get another major piece of SHM scoop: Angello is also well into work on a solo album being put out through Interscope via his Size Records label. “I do have an album,” Angello revealed. “The last bit is the hard part because you have to decide what you want to do and choose what direction you want to take. I’ve finished 70 percent. I got a couple singles. I just haven’t picked ‘the one.’ ” Related Artists Swedish House Mafia Steve Angello

Denise Richards Opens Up About Charlie Sheen, NYC Hotel Disaster

Denise Richards will never cut off contact with Charlie Sheen. Why, many might ask? Considering she’s actually increased security in light of recent threats by the actor? Simple, Richards tells Us Weekly : “He’s my girls’ dad. As they’re older, they’ll deal with him how they can.” In her new memoir, Richards finally goes into detail about the infamous October 2010 night where Sheen allegedly attacked Capri Anderson and was escorted to the hospital by police. The actor’s ex-wife was present at a meal that kicked off that evening, but says she didn’t leave simply because porn stars were there: “It’s not my place to judge how they make a paycheck,” she writes in the aforementioned book, adding: “Charlie was put into an ambulance, and I rode with the sergeant to the hospital, though I insisted I had to be back at 4:30 a.m.After making sure Charlie was stable and settled, the nice policeman gave me a ride back.” For more sterling prose and revealing insight, pick up “Real Girl Next Door” now!
