Cancer claimed the star’s life after a long battle. “She died during the night during her sleep,” her agent confirmed. Sylvia Kristel was admitted to a hospital in July after suffering a stroke, though she was first diagnosed with throat and lung cancer roughly ten years ago. Born in Utrecht, Holland, she made waves around the world as the star of 1974 erotic French film Emmanuelle , in which she portrayed the title character. Young model Emmanuelle, married to a much older man, engages in a number of extramarital affairs – as her husband doesn’t seem to mind – in Bangkok. The film garnered a major following, played for 11 years in a theater in Paris, and remains one of the most successful French films of all time of any genre. Emmanuelle also inspired a number of sequels in which Kristel also starred, and her effort in the “soft core” film even drew critical praise from critic Roger Ebert. Kristel appeared in nearly 60 titles over the years, including TV movies. Tragic news today for Usher and his estranged ex-wife, Tameka Foster: Kyle Glover , Tameka’s 11-year old son from a previous relationship, has been taken off life support and has passed away two weeks after suffering irreversible brain damage in a jet skiing accident. The fatal injury occurred on Lake Lanier in Atlanta on July 8, as Kyle was riding on an inner tube when he was struck by a passer-by in a jet ski. That individual is named Jeffrey S. Hubbard and is in under investigation for his actions. Doctors quickly determined that Kyle was medically brain dead and he had been on life support in the hospital until this morning. The tragedy took place while Usher and Foster were engaged in a contentious custody fight for the two kids they share. But that court battle has now taken a backseat to the sad circumstances surrounding Glover. We send our thoughts and prayer to his family.
Donald Trump has announced that the Miss Universe Organization – which he owns! – plans to sue Miss Pennsylvania USA, a.k.a. Sheena Monnin . Monnin resigned her crown Tuesday claiming Sunday’s Miss USA pageant was rigged … and has no morals for allowing transgendered contestants. Miss Rhode Island Olivia Culpo won Miss USA 2012 , while Monnin, who did not place in the top five, said it was predetermined from the start. Trump begs to differ and says he hopes Monnin has a good lawyer. Mark Kirk of Illinois released a web video showing his journey in learning how to walk again. Dick Clark passed away this morning after suffering a major heart attack. He had been in St. John’s hospital in L.A. for an outpatient procedure last night. The seemingly ageless show business legend, who earned the nickname “America’s Oldest Teenager” well into retirement age for most people, was 82. Clark’s rep confirm that the TV icon suffered the “massive” heart attack following the procedure, and attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. The Mount Vernon, N.Y. native was a powerhouse producer who changed the way America listened to pop music with American Bandstand in the ’50s and ’60s. He then started Dick Clark Productions, which produced countless hits. Clark became synonymous with everything from The $25,000 Pyramid to TV’s Bloopers & Practical Jokes to the American Music Awards … and December 31. Clark’s health had been declining ever since he suffered a major stroke in 2004, forcing him to retire from his hosting gig at New Years’ Rockin’ Eve . Clark created the NYE staple in 1972, and has continued appeared on the show every year, even after passing the hosting torch to Ryan Seacrest. Dick, who also battled Type 2 Diabetes, is survived by his current wife, Kari Wigton, and three adult children from his two previous marriages. He will be missed by generations of fans.
