This Monkee’s Gone to Heaven: R.I.P. Davy Jones

Davy Jones, once named by Yahoo as the number 1 teen idol of all time, passed away at the age of 66 after suffering a heart attack. As a member of the Beatles-inspired musical group The Monkees, created for their eponymous television show in 1966, Jones rose to fame alongside bandmates Peter Tork, Mickey Dolenz, and Michael Nesmith and subsequently embarked on a successful solo musical career of his own; let’s remember Jones with a look back at The Monkees, Jones’ acting career, and the group’s 1968 psychedelic cult film, Head . Here’s what the sisters owe: The IRS filed a $26,658 tax lien against Angela Simmons on Dec. 22 with the New York City Register. The IRS filed a $22,528 tax lien against Vanessa Simmons on Dec. 22 in New York. The IRS filed a $157,787 tax lien against Vanessa Simmons on Nov. 10 in New York. The IRS filed a $27,248 tax lien against Angela Simmons on May 20 in New York. The IRS filed a $132,466 tax lien against Angela Simmons on April 1 in New York. The state of California filed a $44,253 tax lien against Vanessa Simmons on March 23 in Sacramento County Court. Nick Cannon is recuperating after suffering a “mild kidney failure,” the 31-year-old’s wife Mariah Carey announced on Twitter today. Mariah uploaded a photo of herself with hubby Nick from inside his Aspen, Colorado hospital room. “We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful,” she wrote on her official website, adding that doctors tried — and failed — to remove her from Cannon’s room. “We’re doing OK but we’re stranded in Aspen,” Carey added. “I know, we could be in a lot worse places, but the truth is as long as we’re together, we’re OK.” I’m not trying to make light out of the situation because it’s a serious moment that’s very tough on all of us,” Carey, mother to twins Moroccan and Monroe, wrote. “So please keep us and our family in your prayers.” We hope Nick gets better soon! Rick Ross Suffers ANOTHER Seizure! [BREAKING]

TMZ is reporting that Rick Ross has had another seizure. We reported earlier that the Boss was unconscious after suffering a seizure on a plane flying from Ft. Lauderdale to Memphis. That plane made an emergency landing and Ross was taken to a hospital where he was in stable condition. He apparently decided to try and fly to Memphis anyway where he was scheduled to perform with Yo Gotti tonight. But at 5:44 PM CDT, Ross’ private jet was diverted and landed in Birmingham after Rick had another seizure in flight. Rick is currently in a Birmingham hospital emergency room. Read more at TMZ. Gabrielle Giffords made her first public appearance in front of a crowd since being shot in the head Jan. 8, rising from her wheelchair to hug and kiss her husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, when he received the Spaceflight Medal. Giffords, D-Ariz., entered, being pushed in a wheelchair, to a standing ovation from a crowd of hundreds at the awards ceremony auditorium at Space Center Houston, which is next to the Johnson Space Center. Her hair was much shorter than in previously published photos. She was wearing glasses, a beige scarf, a light shirt, jeans and sneakers. She smiled and waved to the crowd. Giffords and Kelly held hands for most of the event. She appeared to chat with people sitting around her, and laughed when the crew of STS-134, the Space Shuttle Endeavour’s last mission, was introduced. Kelly commanded the mission. Giffords left during home movies of the crew, shown during the event. Good to see that she’s doing well after suffering such a terrible ordeal. Source

Justin Bieber hospitalised

Justin Bieber was hospitalised with breathing difficulties on Wednesday (12.01.11). The 16-year-old singing sensation was taken to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California after suffering an allergic reaction while shooting a guest appearance in TV drama series ‘CSI’, but was discharged just 50 minutes later. His representative said: “He is fine. He had a mild allergic reaction while they were wrapping up on the set of ‘CSI.’ His doctor met him at the hospital to make sure everything was OK. He was released within the hour after his doctor declared him fine. He is back on set working. All is well.” Despite his medical emergency, Justin made no mention of his hospital visit when updating fans about his day on twitter. He simply posted: “Ok last day on the set as a bada*s. Gonna get deadly today.” Justin – who has been romantically linked with Selena Gomez – recently admitted he can’t live like a “regular” kid because he can’t afford to take a break when he is tired or ill because of his commitments. He said: “It’s hard to really balance myself. A regular kid, if he catches the flu, he just gets to go home. But I can’t do that . Everything is important. But, you know, my sanity is important, too. Even if I’m angry, I’ll just put a smile on my face and fake it. I don’t often fake it – what’s me is me. I know I have to give up a lot of myself, or a lot of a private life.”

Standup comic Robert Schimmel, 60, dies after car crash September 4, 2010 | 7:34 am Standup comic Robert Schimmel, a frequent guest on Howard Stern's radio show, has died after suffering serious injuries in a car accident. He was 60. Schimmel's spokesman, Howard Bragman, says Schimmel died Friday evening in a Phoenix hospital. Schimmel was a passenger Thursday in a car driven by his 19-year-old daughter Aliyah. Bragman says Aliyah Schimmel swerved to avoid another car and the vehicle she was driving rolled to the side of the freeway. Bragman says she is hospitalized in stable condition. Robert Schimmel lived in Scottsdale. The comedian has been a frequent guest on “Late Night with Conan O'Brien” and on Howard Stern's radio show. Betty White Speaks on Rue McClanahan Death

With the death of Rue McClanahan earlier today, Betty White is now the last of the Golden Girls . Losing her co-star this morning hit the octogenarian hard. “Rue was a close and dear friend. I treasure our relationship,” White said in a statement today. “It hurts more than I ever thought it would, if that’s even possible.” Rue McClanahan passed away at age 76 after suffering a stroke, following the deaths of costars Bea Arthur last year at age 86 and Estelle Getty in 2008 at age 84. Betty White, who has experienced an unexpected but wonderful career comeback of sorts lately at 88, was the eldest of the long-running NBC comedy’s quartet. Betty White, center, with the late Rue McClanahan and Bea Arthur. Golden Girls producer and writer Marc Cherry, known to younger generations for creating Desperate Housewives , also expressed grief over McClanahan passing: “My favorite character to write for was Blanche Devereaux. In the hands of lesser actresses Blanche’s vanity and sexual appetite would have been off-putting.” “But in Rue’s brilliant hands, that character became one of the most beloved in the history of TV. Rue’s kindness, generosity and talent will be sorely missed.”
