Palin tells ABC she can beat Obama in 2012

If she decides to run for president in 2012, Sarah Palin thinks she can beat President Obama. That's according to an interview the ex-Alaska governor conducted with ABC's Barbara Walters. Echoing her comments to the New York Times Magazine, Palin tells Walters that she's seriously considering a 2012 run. “I'm looking at the lay of the land now, and … trying to figure that out, if it's a good thing for the country, for the discourse, for my family, if it's a good thing,” Palin says. Asked if she can beat Obama, Palin tells Walters, “I believe so.” You can watch an excerpt of the interview after the jump, courtesy of ABC: http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_theticket/20101117/el_yblog_theticket/palin-tells-… =Apoq8sfJjkmxpK3gi5f2Vcqs0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTFpZnIxcG9wBHBvcwMzOARzZWMDYWNjb3JkaW9uX21vc3RfcG9wdWxhcgRzbGsDcGFsaW50ZWxsc2Fi ______________________________________________________________________ and this my children is how the Mayan Prophecy is fulfilled. Boardwalk Empire Mob Movie Memory Lane: Public Enemies

Whether or not Boardwalk Empire adds up to something greater than its stuffy (and expensive), period-perfect pilot remains to be seen. What doesn’t, however, is the fact that the new HBO series from Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter is forged in the pinky rings of other mafia movies. Ahead, take a stroll down memory lane with Movieline to see which of your favorites got their cut during the pilot.

Toronto Awards: Audience Applauds The King’s Speech, Jury of Critics Admires Beautiful Boy

Like the Academy, Toronto audiences just can’t resist a well-done, historical dramedy. Or maybe they just love Colin Firth. Regardless, Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech , in which Firth plays the stuttering King George IV, took the Audience Award at this year’s festival. The diverse jury of international critics ventured into darker territory, awarding Shawn Ku’s school-shooting-aftermath drama Beautiful Boy the prize for the Discovery Program. Also, a surprising number of unofficial consolation prizes were dealt out in the form of distribution deals. Congratulations to the all of the festival winners, which are listed after the jump.

The Town, and the Other 8 Best Recent Movies That Star the Director

This weekend sees the release of the gritty, critically acclaimed heist movie The Town , where Ben Affleck carries the action not only in front of the camera in the lead role, but also behind the camera as the film’s director. Indeed, some of the greatest movies ever made were directed by actors who also appeared in their films — consider that highwater mark set by Orson Welles with Citizen Kane — but how have cinematic multitaskers like Affleck, George Clooney, Clint Eastwood and others fared over the past decade?

Alamo Drafthouse to Unleash Four Lions and Expand Operations to NY and LA

Those who insist there’s no reason to see movies in the theater anymore haven’t been to the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX. Weekend Forecast: It’s Resident Evil: Afterlife’s World, Joaquin Phoenix is Just Living It

Unless you live in a major market and want to sample Joaquin Phoenix’s coprophilic hip-hop narcissist fantasia (no, that’s not a recommendation), it might be worth just forgoing this weekend at the movies. Don’t take my word for it, though; see the sad pickings after the jump, with one (negotiable) exception.
