Caught On Tape: The French Are Pissed At Police Violence Against Black Woman (Teargas And Baton Beating) [Video]

French prosecutors have launched an investigation after a video showing a police officer beating a black woman with a baton and spraying tear gas directly into her face sparked outrage. Interior Minister Manuel Valls said Tuesday that prosecutors in the central city of Tours had ordered the IGPN police internal affairs branch to investigate after the video, called “Shame on the French police”, was posted on the Internet on Sunday. “An investigation has been opened. The matter has been referred to the IGPN,” Valls said. “We need the whole truth and full transparency… The police must be irreproachable, the vast majority of police officers carry out difficult and remarkable work.” youtube http://news.asiaone.com/

My Chemical Romance Team With Fans On ‘Sing It For Japan’

Band will release charity version of latest single and fan-fueled video, with all proceeds going to Red Cross efforts. By James Montgomery My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way Photo: Samir Hussein/ Getty Images My Chemical Romance have announced plans to release a charity version of their song “Sing,” with all proceeds going to the Red Cross’ disaster relief efforts in Japan. But they’re not doing it alone. Instead, they’re reaching out to members of their MCRmy to help the cause. The band is asking fans to submit videos, pictures, drawings and written messages to the people of Japan through social sites like Twitter — using the hashtag #SINGItForJapan — which they’ll then compile into a video to be paired with the song. “We’d like to send messages of hope to Japan from people all over the world. … Go wherever your creativity and heart takes you. It could be as simple as you holding up a sign with ‘#SINGItForJapan’ written on it, or anything else you can dream up,” guitarist Ray Toro wrote on the band’s official site. “From what we’ve seen on tour, we know you guys can dream bigger than we ever could. Don’t be afraid to get your families involved. If you are inspired to do something alone, that’s great too. But we encourage you to get a big group of people from your community together. We want Japan to know just how many people are behind them.” Toro added that the band got the idea after noticing that, in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunamis that ravaged Japan, fans were sending messages of support to the nation using the hashtag. “After the news of the earthquake and tsunami spread, I did what most people did. I stopped and stared at the TV. I sat at the computer, constantly refreshing CNN in hopes of some good news,” he wrote. “And I went to Twitter to see what people were saying. I noticed a hashtag, ‘SINGItForJapan,’ where you kids were writing messages of hope, saying prayers and sending your condolences and well wishes to survivors. It moved me in a profound way.” The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, March 30, at 8 p.m. ET. There’s no news on just when the band’s new version of “Sing” will be made available, but for more information — and to submit material for #SINGItForJapan — check out My Chemical Romance’s official site . By MTV News staff Katy Perry in her “E.T.” music video Photo: Capitol Katy Perry’s much-anticipated “E.T.” video will land Thursday exclusively on MTV and MTV.com. The video — directed by Floria Sigismondi and featuring none other than Kanye West — will first premiere at noon on MTV.com, VH1.com and LogoTV.com. “MTV First: Katy Perry’s ‘E.T.’ ” will bow on air at 7:53 p.m. ET, and then tosses to MTV.com’s live stream, direct from the MTV Newsroom, featuring MTV News correspondent Sway’s exclusive interview with Perry, an interview with Sigismondi, and reaction from Perry’s fans. “MTV First” caps off a full day of Katy-related content across all MTV platforms. Beginning on Thursday morning, MTV and MTV Hits will feature blocks of Perry’s best-known videos, and at 5 p.m. ET, MTV’s “The Seven” will feature an interview with Perry. And just before the on-air premiere of “E.T.,” fans will be treated to an exclusive introduction from Katy herself. On Friday — the day after the video’s premiere — TeenNick, Logo and Tr3s will spotlight the video as part of TeenNick’s “Obsess This” music block, Logo’s “NewNowNext” and Tr3s’ “Fresca Video.” And though the premiere is still three days away, promotion for the clip has already begun: Not only has Perry been tweeting photos of her fans after they’ve been “abducted” by extraterrestrials, but now it seems that both her website and Facebook page have also been taken over by the same aliens, who are communicating with fans in a bizarre written language.
