Wyclef Jean’s Sister Melky Raises Funds, Awareness For Haiti With New Album

‘People always say, ‘I’m going to start with the man in the mirror,’ but I want us to hold hands and look in the mirror together,’ she tells RapFix. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Hillary Crosley Melky Jean in her video for “Better” Photo: MCA Last year, the world rallied around Haiti after a devastating earthquake upended the tiny country. This year, to mark the one-year anniversary , celebrities have continued to bring awareness to the aftermath, from George Clooney’s pleas for support to Sean Penn relocating to Haiti as a resident. Included in that group are Wyclef Jean and his sister, Melky. The latter star is set to release her next project, Care for Haiti, an album she’s been working on since 2007 that has grown in importance since the earthquake. All of the proceeds from the album are slated to go to Care, a charitable organization that’s helped the country for more than 50 years. Melky Jean managed to pull in some big names for the project and hopes their fame will help bring further help to Haiti, which is still struggling to recover from the natural disaster. “Back in 2007, not many people knew what was going on in Haiti, but I was able to get some really awesome artists at the time like KRS-One, Talib Kweli, Patti LaBelle, Sean Paul, of course Wyclef, Natasha Bedingfield and Ang

Kim Kardashian Tweets Support of Lindsay Lohan

This is both sweet and nauseating. In the aftermath of Lindsay Lohan’s 90-day jail sentencing yesterday afternoon, Kim Kardashian has Tweeted support of her fellow promiscuous celebrity. She wrote: Sending positivity your way @LindsayLohan Love you! Everyone please send LL your sweet prayers. U never know when someone really needs it. No offense to Kim or Lindsay, but we think God has better things to do with His time than answer prayers related to an alcoholic trainwreck who will likely benefit from a stint in jail. Lohan needs some wake up call to turn around her life, doesn’t she? Two women, four huge breasts, zero talent, one jail sentence. In between sobs and lewd nail painting, Lindsay replied to Kim and Tweeted: “thank you so much @KimKardashian – thanks for being such a good friend, it means a lot to me.” Fortunately for Lohan, she’ll meet many new good friends in jail, too. Especially when she drops the soap.

Rihanna Says Clip For ‘Rude Boy’ Is ‘A Pop Art Video’

‘It’s really colorful, really energetic,’ singer says. By Jayson Rodriguez Rihanna in “Rude Boy” Photo: Def Jam Rihanna is returning to her Caribbean roots on her latest single from Rated R, “Rude Boy.” The Barbados-born singer’s earlier songs, like “S.O.S.” and “Dem Haters,” were tinged with island appeal. But since her breakout hit “Umbrella,” Rih Rih has leaned toward pop fare. Now with the release of “Rude Boy,” she’s returning to a familiar sound and created an accompanying visual she describes as one of her best. “It’s really colorful; it’s a pop art video,” Rihanna told MTV Korea. “We shot it all on green screen. Everything was done in post-production. It’s really colorful, really energetic. It was really inspired by my Caribbean roots. I love reggae music. [“Rude Boy”] is a Jamaican term, so our costumes are dancehall-queen-like. It’s a fun video. Probably the most fun video we’ve done so far.” The video recently premiered online and immediately drew comparisons to M.I.A.’s “Boyz” clip and Neneh Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance.” With its mix of dashing color and feisty attitude, the homage is apparent. The “Rude Boy” video and track also may be a preview of what Rihanna’s next album might sound like. She’s won critical praise for Rated R, the dark and deeply personal collection inspired by the aftermath of her assault by Chris Brown and subsequent breakup. For her next project, however, Rihanna said she hopes to keep the production tempo of her latest offering but mix it with more upbeat songwriting . ” Rated R — I love the sound of it, in terms of the bass,” Rihanna explained. “I really like the bottom, the grime of it. But if I were to combine that with more energetic, uptempo pop records, then I think that will be a happy marriage. And that’s where we’ll probably go next.” Related Artists Rihanna
