On Martin Bashir’s television program this afternoon, Democratic strategist and MSNBC analyst Karen Finney said that Republicans are supporting Herman Cain because of his race: “One of the things about Herman Cain is, I think that he makes that white Republican base of the party feel okay, feel like they are not racist because they can like this guy,” Finney said. “I think he giving that base a free… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : The Weekly Standard Blog Discovery Date : 28/10/2011 22:30 Number of articles : 2
Grammy winner announces granuloma diagnosis following series of concert cancellations By Gil Kaufman John Mayer Photo: Getty Images Singer/guitarist John Mayer has enjoyed a long, Grammy-filled career thanks to his bluesy rasp. But after canceling a series of recent performances to rest his voice, Mayer announced that he had gone under the knife to correct a throat problem that had laid him low. Mayer was diagnosed with granuloma (throat inflammation) just above his vocal cord last month and has been ordered to take complete vocal rest for at least a month following the surgery. “I wanted to give you an update on the granuloma just above my vocal cord,” Mayer wrote on his Tumblr . “I had surgery this afternoon to remove it and am now on complete vocal rest for a month or more. It’s been a very long process in waiting to see if time was an alternative to surgery, but even given two weeks’ voice rest (along with many other approaches), there was no change for the better.” Mayer canceled some performances last month, including an appearance at the first-ever iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas as well as a show with Tony Bennett in Los Angeles. In addition, his upcoming fifth album, Born and Raised, which was originally slated for release this fall, has been pushed back to next year. “I should be frustrated but I can’t seem to stop thinking about beautiful things,” Mayer continued. “I never thought I’d be wishing I could do what I love again; I stay in at night, picking guitar parts off of records and dreaming of playing on the big stage. The only difference between now and when I was 18 is that now I have this beautiful, meaningful record waiting for me when I can sing it.” Related Artists John Mayer
We realize she’s (probably) just joking, but the mental image of these two as les-be- Friends is so bonerrific, we just had to share. Reese Witherspoon presented her gal pal Jennifer Aniston with an award at the Elle Women in Hollywood gala this week, and at the event Reese recalled her excitement at being cast as Jill on Friends : “I would not stop watching Friends. They were my friends and there was no taking me away from my friends.” But once she was actually on set, stage fright took over until Jennifer Aniston took her aside and helped her get it together for the live studio audience. The two became (real-life) friends, and Reese has nothing but glowing (or growing , eh fellas?) things to say about Jennifer: “There are not that many people actually who have this incredible combination of sex appeal and complete lovability,” Reese said. “You just want to get your nails done with her and you want to make out with her—at least I do.” “And that’s what we do sometimes on Saturdays. First we get our nails done—so cute!—and then we make out. It’s totally awesome.” If only! How about some photographic evidence, ladies? Members can see Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon nude on MrSkin.com- the rest we’ll leave up to your imagination.
American Horror Story star Alexandra Breckenridge has told us to expect bigger and bare-er things from her this season, but while we’re waiting for that seat meat shot, here’s a little something to tide you over. There’s something about a woman on her hands and knees, vigorously rubbing away with her right hand… Get a closeup up Alexandra Breckenridge ‘s skirt after the jump!
This morning’s reports that exiled Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi is dead have now been confirmed. There’s photo and video evidence, and it is graphic. Unlike photo or video evidence of the death of Osama bin Laden , which was never released to the public, Al Jazeera has already aired it this afternoon. News outlets across the world are reporting the story along with a photo of bloody, dying Moammar Gadhafi, moments after he was captured in Libya. Libyan officials have confirmed Gadhafi was shot to death when rebels pulled him out of a storm drain near his home town of Sirte early this morning. We’ve posted the photo and video of Gadhafi’s dead body taken immediately after the 69-year-old despot was killed. Be forewarned, both are graphic: Moammar Gadhafi Dead Body
Word to the wise, if you’re trying to get to Bieber you gotta go through this big guy first… And he ain’t having it. Hit the flip to see what he had to say.
“Matthew, could you please let us know how you went about meeting your wife?” “Sure,” said Matthew Broderick. “Right after I’m assassinated.” Such was the mood late this afternoon at Guild Hall, where, at arguably the Hamptons Film Festival’s most anticipated event, Broderick sat for a conversation with his old friend and peer Alec Baldwin. Or mostly conversation, anyway, until the wild interruption from the balcony that nearly derailed a perfectly delightful chat about humble beginnings, John Hughes. Marlon Brando, Producers -mania, botched films and so much more.
Once casts a long shadow over the The Swell Season , a black-and-white tour documentary co-directed by Nick August-Perna, Chris Dapkins and Carlo Mirabella-Davis. For one thing the film, which follows musicians-turned-movie stars Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová as they perform under the band name of the title, wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Once — the incredible, unexpected success of the Irish indie romance made celebrities of its leads and netted them an Academy Award for their song “Falling Slowly,” one of many we hear them play in the doc. Early on, we’re shown Hansard’s mother hefting her son’s Oscar and speaking of him with pride, musing that if the two musicians were to get married, their children would be able to say “ma and dad have an Oscar each!” Once has allowed the long-struggling Hansard and considerably younger Irglová to become a coveted live act, and it’s on tour that The Swell Season catches them, as the first flush of celebration has faded and weariness has begun to set in.
