The selections have been made. The live performances will soon begin. And American Idol is about to kick into high, intense gear. But before the newly-announced finalists take the stage next week, let’s consider what we’ve seen so far. Are you a fan of Jacob Lusk and his soulful performances? Did you stand and cheer along with the judges for Pia Toscano ? Or are you on Team Thia Megia ? Perhaps James Durbin rocked your world, and maybe you loved how Karen Rodriguez paid homage to her heritage. David Arquette Injured in Head-On Car Crash

David Arquette was involved a head-on collision this afternoon. He was injured and hospitalized but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. He was in W. Hollywood when his car veered into oncoming traffic. David was behind a car that stopped suddenly, causing him to swerve to avoid it. David then headed straight into oncoming traffic and slammed into a car going in the opposite direction. Paramedics quickly arrived on the scene. David Arquette on the ground after the car accident. [Photo: TMZ] The actor way to Burbank airport to board a private jet which was going to Las Vegas, for the grand opening of Sugar Factory, a candy store at the Paris Hotel. He was supposed to attend a party hosted by Kim Kardashian . That was not to be, as he was taken away by ambulance. A little bit later, officials said the drivers of both vehicles suffered minor to moderate injuries. Good news, in many respects, considering how bad a head-on crash could’ve been for Arquette and the other driver. We wish him a fast, full recovery. More details to follow as the story develops, as well.

It’s a lot more than National Pancake Day, folks. In case you hadn’t heard, it’s also Justin Bieber’s birthday, as the young icon turns 17 years old . As you might expect, one of the fans who has sent out best wishes to the star is his mentor, Usher. But the hip hop artist did a lot more than merely Tweet out ““Happy Birthday Lil Bro…I love you and hope you are enjoyin’ your BIG 17th” this afternoon. He also posted a special birthday remix (below) and asked fans to donate to a worthy cause. Justin Birthday Birthday Tribute “Fight cancer & donate $10 to ACS in honor of JB’s bday,” Usuer wrote. “Text BDAY to 20222.” Bieber himself has sent out a link to his Charity: Water page , as he attempts to raise $17,000 for clean water in developing nations. Jennifer Lopez lost it on American Idol last night. She barely got through the elimination of beloved Chris Medina before breaking down in front of Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler, afraid she didn’t handle the news well and simply sad to see Medina go. Jennifer Lopez Breaks Down on American Idol “After he left, it really hit me. I just couldn’t believe that I had to deliver this news to this person who I felt had been through a lot and is going through a lot,” Lopez told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this afternoon. “I felt like I didn’t do it well enough for him, to send him where he needed to go in his life and be okay. I didn’t want to be part of that.” As for how Medina handled it? “With so much dignity and so much class,” J. Lo said. Regarding the selection of the top 24 , Lopez understands that it plays a major role in future viewership. “I think if we do a good job right now, people will tune in later and I think we’re doing a good job right now. We’re being honest, we’re being real, we’ve having fun and I think that’s all we have to do.”
