I’ve been following Dove Cameron ‘s career for a while now (relax, she’s 21, I’m not trying to run for Senator of Alabama here…). And I’ve been waiting for her to ditch the whole former Disney Channel star image and start living up to her true hottie potential. So today’s a big day — her first red carpet tongue action. I’m so proud. Pride’s one of those emotions you feel in your pants, right?
Former Alabama Supreme Court judge and current US Senate candidate Roy Moore has always been a controversial figure. After all, this is a man whose homophobic, racist, and anti-Muslim views earned him a reputation as a bigot even by the standards of Alabama Republicans. But despite being twice removed from the bench for ethical violations, Moore has risen through this party’s ranks to become a figure of national prominence. In September, he defeated Trump-backed candidate Luther Strange in a run-off election and became the GOP’s nominee to fill the Senate seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. During his campaign, Moore brandished a gun onstage, blamed the Sandy Hook massacre on a lack of school prayer, and called for the impeachment of judges who have Astonishingly, it seems these views have only served to increase Moore’s popularity with his base. But now, the 70-year-old finds himself at the heart of a scandal that may cost him the support of even his most fervent supporters. The Washington Post has interviewed four women who say they were subjected to unwanted sexual advances by Moore in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when he was in his thirties and they were in their teens. Leigh Corfman tells the newspaper she was just 14 when Moore groped her and forced her to touch his genitals at his home in rural Alabama. “I wanted it over with — I wanted out,” she remembers thinking. “Please just get this over with. Whatever this is, just get it over.” Three women have independently claimed that Moore kissed them, inappropriately touched them, and plied them with alcohol when they were between the ages of 15 and 17. Moore has denied the allegations in a statement issued by his campaign team: “These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign,” the statement reads. Adopting the favorite counter-argument of Trump-era Republicans, a rep for Moore added, “This garbage is the very definition of fake news.” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other prominent Republicans have stated that Moore should step aside if there’s any truth to the allegations. Others, however, have mounted absurd defenses of Moore, including Alabama state auditor Jim Ziegler, who went viral with this asinine argument: “Take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus,” Ziegler told the Washington Examiner. Currently, Moore has no plans to bring an end to his campaign. He is set to face off against Democratic challenger Doug Jones in a special election on December 12. View Slideshow: 15 Celebrities Who Have Been Sexually Assaulted
P resident Donald Trump made reckless remarks—as per usual—about NFL players while speaking before a crowd in Huntsville, Alabama on Friday, reports BuzzFeed News . Trump's comments were apparently in reference to former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick https://t.co/0L11ZMm0c2 — BuzzFeed News (@BuzzFeedNews) September 23, 2017 While delivering remarks at a campaign event for Sen. Luther Strange , he seemed to call out NFL free agent Colin Kaepernick over the powerful decision to kneel during American flag ceremonies last year in efforts to bring awareness to social injustices. During the event, Trump asked the crowd if they would “love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘get that son of a bitch off the field right now.’” He also added that if an NFL coach were to take that type of action, they would become “the most popular person in this country.” Trump says kneeling during the National Anthem is a blatant form of disrespect and that those who choose to do so should be fired. Kaepernick isn’t the only person in the realm of sports who Trump has come after. Nearly two weeks ago, the White House demanded that ESPN fire sports journalist Jemele Hill , after she called Trump a “White supremacist” in a series of tweets. After word spread about Trump’s remarks on Friday, several NFL players and activists took to Twitter to let him know that his comments were uncalled for and that he could have a football stadium full of seats. The following is a truly awful story. Our heart breaks for everyone involved in it and everyone who has been affected by it. An Alabama woman and her eight-year old daughter died on Tuesday afternoon in separate car-related accidents… within 30 minutes and seven miles of each other. According to DeKalb County Coroner Tom Wilson, the victims have been identified as 39-year-old Julie Yates Patterson and her child, Elizabeth “Libby” Patterson. Said Wilson to The Huffington Post, detailing what transpired: “The mother’s car was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle and then about a half hour later, the daughter was crossing the road when she was struck by a car.” Wilson added that both incidents took place on Alabama State Route 117, which is located near the family’s residence in Valley Head. This highway is a winding two-lane road that runs northwest from the Georgia state line through the town of Ider into Jackson County, eventually ending at the Tennessee state line. Valley Head is a small town about 70 miles southeast of Huntsville; the impact of these tragedies has been felt by all who call it home. “It’s just a tragic, tragic thing for something like that to happen,” Valley Head Mayor Lamar Bray said on Wednesday, adding: “In a little town of 500 or 600 people, everybody knows everybody or [is] related to everybody. We just request prayers for the family, and we’ll all come together as a community.” Per The Times Free Press, family members say that Libby had recently celebrated her birthday and that a school bus had reportedly dropped her off minutes before the fatal accident. Al.com also reported on the accident that killed Julia, writing that the crash injured at least two other people, both of whom were transported to an area hospital. Their conditions are unknown at the moment. The driver of the vehicle that struck and killed Libby was not injured. Wilson told The Huffington Post in a quick interview that the small rural community is “mostly in shock and disbelief.” He added: “It’s quite a coincidence. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it.” On Thursday morning, an account at Gofundme.com went up to help pay for funeral expenses; to date, it has raised nearly $2,000. This is what it says on the home page: Most of you know Julie Yates was killed in a car accident on March 21st, on that same day, shortly after, her daughter Libby was also killed after being struck by a car. Nobody knows or is prepared for something like this. I have started this page in hopes for our little community to come together and help this family as much as possible. The money will be put towards the funeral, and what is left will be given to the Yates family to do what they deem necessary, whether it is funeral expenses or whatever they need. I am a friend of the family, I went to church with Julie’s daughter and I intend on taking the funds to the funeral home in which the funeral will be held. If you have any questions regarding the campaign or if I have not answered any questions in this post PLEASE contact me via email and I will answer any unanswered question. We cannot imagine almost anything worse than what this family must be going through. We send them our thoughts, prayers and condolences.
A Springfield, Illinois police officer is going viral after a video shows him arguing and beating up on an unruly teenager. The video looks like something out of a bad movie with the way the officer is going head up with the kid ultimately pounding away on the boy’s dome. (Springfield Police Department) Reports say the police were called to a resident for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the police were confronted by an aggitated teenager. You can see officer Samuel A. Rosario telling his comrade not to arrest him…and they didn’t. Instead, the 32-yr-old cop thought it was appropriate to beat up the 19-yr-old punk. Rosario was heard saying “you ain’t about that life, kid” at the end of the beating. Rosario has since been arrested for the Feb. 27th incident. The full 15 minute video is on the next page.
Mother And Daughter Pronounced Dead, 30 Minutes Apart In Separate Highway Accidents The family of a mother and her daughter in Alabama are mourning twice as hard this week. Both Julia Yates Patterson and her daughter Libby Patterson died this week, in separate accidents, on the same highway stretch. According to NBC4 , Julia’s Ford Explorer collided with a head-on, a Dodge Ram truck. The fatal crash happened on Highway 117 around 3:00 p.m. She was 39 years old. Just minutes down the road, around the time Julia’s daughter was exiting her school bus, she was struck and killed by a car on the same highway. Police are unsure of why the child was near the highway. Family members say the girl, Elizabeth Patterson, was 8 years old. She went by “Libby” and had just celebrated her birthday last weekend. She was in second grade. The girl, like her mother, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sad.
