Amal Alamuddin Makes It Official: Just Call Me Amal Clooney!

Some may call her The Luckiest Woman to Ever Walk the Planet Earth. But Amal Alamuddin only wants to be called one thing going forward: Amal Clooney. About two weeks after marrying George Clooney in Venice, the 36-year old has changed her name to Amal Clooney on the website of her London-based law firm, Doughty Street Chambers. The human rights attorney exchanged vows Clooney over a weekend of festivities in late September that included separate bachelor and bachelorette dinners on Friday, September 26 and then a ceremony/reception on Saturday, Sept. 27. The latter took place at Venice’s seven-star Aman Canal Grand Hotel and was attended by such A-Listers as Cindy Crawford, Bill Murray and Matt Damon. Following the lavish nuptials, Amal and Clooney were officially and legally married in a civil ceremony at Venice’s Palazzo Ca’ Loredan. Since then, the famous couple has released a handful of wedding photos, with all proceeds going to charity , while Clooney made Alamuddin stop smoking and begin arriving places on time. When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got married last month, it seemed like no one knew about it beforehand other than the couple dozen guests who attended. Brad’s equally secretive friend George Clooney got engaged to Amal Alamuddin  back in April and was expected to plan a surprise, low-key ceremony of his own. When Clooney took the stage, he shocked the crowd by casually revealing when and where he’ll be relinquishing his title as World’s Most Eligible Bachelor: “I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying in a couple weeks, in Venice of all places,” George told the audience.   Naturally, George didn’t get any more specific with regard to the date or venue, but at least now we can properly prepare ourselves for the end of the Single Clooney Era. So much for those rumors that George and Amal are fighting over a prenup . Clearly, if these two are fighting about anything, it’s who dropped more jaws on the red carpet. Yup. The  Amal Alamuddin pregnant rumors have started already. With this British lawyer set to marry George Clooney, the tabloids have zeroed in on the upcoming nuptials and determined there’s only one reason Clooney would ever settle down: A baby! Indeed, Life & Style alleges on its latest cover that a “rush-rush wedding” is on the way because a child is also on the way and Clooney’s life will be “changed forever” as a result. This isn’t the first (or the last) time Alamuddin and Clooney are at the center of a made-up tabloid story, but it’s the sort of ridiculous kind Clooney can just laugh off. That was decidedly not the case when The Daily Mail wrote that Clooney was clashing with his future mother-in-law over religion, prompting the beloved star to tear into that British rag. Move over, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Your wedding is so yesterday’s news. The Internet has already moved on to what is sure to Hollywood’s next major marriage: come on down, George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin! According to The Daily Mail, the famous couple will exchange vows at Highclere Castle, a famous landmark in England best known as… the site of Downton Abbey! Alamuddin and Clooney reportedly vacationed near the historic residence last week, with the bride-to-be falling in love with the castle. “George became close friends with Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Robert Crawley, when they did Monuments Men together last year,” a source tells The Daily Mail. “And they really hit it off. He contacted Hugh and asked him to arrange a private tour of the castle. “Amal was blown away.” Highclere Castle is set on 1,000 acres and representatives have told Clooney they are “most happy to accommodate” his nuptials there. Highclere is located 50 miles from Heathrow, making it a breeze for the bride and groom’s family and friends from overseas to attend. Clooney shocked the world in late April when he proposed to Alamuddin after cooking her dinner.
