RiRi and her ‘Cheers’ producers tweet about recording album number six. By James Montgomery Rihanna Photo: James Devaney/WireImage She may still be wringing singles from her platinum-plus Loud album, but Rihanna is already prepping her sixth studio effort. And, from the sound of things, it’ll be finished soon. RiRi took to her Twitter account early Thursday morning (September 15) to confirm that, yes, sessions for album number six are already under way. “I can’t wait to start filling u guys in on some details!” she exclaimed. Rihanna punctuated that tweet with a “*Zips lips*,” meaning that, for now at least, she’s done talking about the project. Talk of new music began on Wednesday, when the singer retweeted a post from production duo the Runners (Rihanna’s “California King Bed” and “Cheers”), who wrote , “Shout out to @alexdelicata for makin history with us. Wait till they hear this new @rihanna song.” But in late July, producer Verse Simmonds — one half of the studio duo known as the Jugganauts, who produced Rihanna’s hit “Man Down” — talked to MTV News’ Mixtape Daily about the new album, saying that Ri was close to completing work on the disc. “From what I understand, she’s is closing the album up now, and we did two records for her that she really, really loved, and I’m really excited about them as well,” Simmonds said. “They are records that we wrote and produced as the Jugganauts.” Simmonds said he was “99.999 percent” sure that he and production partner Sak Pase’s contributions would make the final cut, and while he wouldn’t elaborate on what Rihanna’s new album would sound like, he did hint that it’ll move in a direction quite different from “Man Down.” “Because we … as producers, as artists, we try to always come with something different, a whole new sound,” he explained. Of course, finishing up her album isn’t the only thing on Rihanna’s plate these days. During Wednesday night’s “The X Factor” launch party in Los Angeles, Simon Cowell confirmed to KIIS FM that she would also serve as a guest judge on the show, saying, “You’re going to see her.” Related Artists Rihanna

‘I feel vindicated for having guilt on my shoulders for the second movie,’ he tells MTV News of blockbuster ‘Dark of the Moon.’ By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Shia LaBeouf at the New York premiere of “Transformers: Dark Of The Moon” on June 28, 2011 Photo: Jamie McCarthy/ WireImage In the run up to the release of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” Shia LaBeouf was adamant about two things: the second chapter of his alien robot franchise honestly wasn’t very good at all and the newest sequel would blow everyone away. “It is the best movie we’ve made, I’m serious,” LaBeouf told MTV News in June. “It’s not a joke. I’m dead honest, man. I get myself in trouble all the time, but this is our best installment.” He’s probably right. “Dark of the Moon” is the top-grossing film in the series ($1.1 billion) and received an “A” CinemaScore from audiences, according to Paramount. Having announced that the third “Transformers” film will be his last, LaBeouf recently told us that he’s leaving the franchise on a high note. “For me, I feel vindicated for having guilt on my shoulders for the second movie,” he said. “There is vindication in this one being successful and people enjoying it.” Since finishing up the international press tour for “Dark of the Moon,” LaBeouf has been collaborating on a music video with Marilyn Manson and doing postproduction work on John Hillcoat’s “The Wettest County in the World,” a drama about Prohibition-era bootleggers. “That’s probably the biggest, coolest opportunity I’ve been allotted so far,” LaBeouf said of Hillcoat’s follow-up to “The Road.” “It’s the most colorful character I’ve been able to play, the most depth I’ve been able to show as an actor.” At the same time, the actor has been prepping for work on “The Company You Keep,” a political thriller that Robert Redford will direct and star in. “I’ve been in Redford’s office doing read-throughs,” LaBeouf said. “He’s very efficient with his time. He’s a master at juggling his time and his attention span. When his attention span is focused in your direction, he’s laser-beam focused. He knows exactly what he wants. He’s very specific. He’s hilarious and fun and vibrant and everything you’d want in a director. I’m very excited to see a man direct himself. I’ve never seen that happen on a set. I know how intense and tough that’s going to be. I’m showing up more as an audience member.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Band’s much-anticipated Mylo Xyloto features 14 songs, including team-up with RiRi on ‘Princess Of China.’ By James Montgomery Coldplay’s fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto Photo: Parlophone Records They may still be tinkering with the tunes but, bit by bit, Coldplay are letting Mylo Xyloto out of the bag. On Monday (September 12), they not only unveiled the second single from the album — a pulsing, preternaturally pretty song called “Paradise” — they also revealed the full track list for Xyloto, a collection of 14 songs that includes one rather, uh, unexpected guest star: Rihanna . Yes, RiRi contributes vocals to the new track “Princess of China,” which, along with live Coldplay favorites like “M.M.I.X.,” “Hurts Like Heaven” and “Charlie Brown” made Xyloto’s final cut. Also included on the album are “Up In Flames” and “Don’t Let It Break Your Heart,” a pair of songs that Coldplay’s mysterious Roadie #42 recently described as “a masterwork of restraint” and “almost violently life-affirming,” respectively. Mylo Xyloto is produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, with (as a press release from the band’s publicist puts it) “enoxification and additional composition” from Brian Eno. The album will hit stores in the U.S. on October 24. “Paradise” is the second official single off the disc, following in the footsteps of the massive “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” , and the similarities between the tracks don’t end there. With its shimmering electronic pulses, whomping beat, repeated vocal mantras, wide-screen harmonies and epic crescendo, “Paradise” seems like the spiritual sequel to “Waterfall” (the latter is even mentioned in frontman Chris Martin’s lyrics) and builds on a similar theme: one of maximum uplift. The final track list for Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto, according to the band’s spokesperson:
