Beyonce And Jay Z Seen Photographed With Freddie Gray’s Family In Baltimore Spready love, it’s the Carter way… Via CNN Pop star Prince made room for another color next to his signature purple in his Baltimore “Rally4Peace” concert Sunday — and next to his music for dash of political gestures. “Wear something gray,” his promotional materials asked of patrons — in remembrance of Freddie Gray, who died from severe spinal injuries after his arrest last month. On the concert poster, an illustration showed Prince wearing it, too. After protests over Gray’s death gave way to riots in the city, the singer-songwriter recorded a song called “Baltimore,” dedicated to residents and to Gray, in which he calls for justice and peace. “The system is broken,” he shouted to the crowd at the Royal Farms Area. “It’s up to you young folks to fix it.” Prince had announced he would come to town to play live. Audio from the concert was streamed free via the digital live music service TIDAL. There was no way Jay Z and Beyonce were gonna miss an opportunity to show face when their much maligned music streaming service was involved. However, the Carter’s weren’t the only black superstars to make a surprise appearance… In addition to “Baltimore,” Prince played many of his hits, opening with “Let’s go Crazy.” But he hatched a surprise when he invited State’s Attorney for Baltimore City Marilyn Mosby to join him on stage, the Baltimore Sun reported. Mosby is heading the prosecution in the Gray case and has lodged charges against six police officers. The officers’ attorneys have filed a motion to have Mosby’s office taken off the case. They claim she has a conflict of interests, which she has denied. The concert tickets were a Mother’s Day gift from Mosby’s husband, Councilman Nick Mosby, the Sun reported. During the event, Beyoncé, Jay Z, Tina Knowles Lawson, and Alicia Keys all took a moment to flick it up with Freddie Gray’s family as well as Michael Brown’s mother. Flip the page for the pics. Could Beyonce singing to unreleased Jay Z music have hit a nerve? The super star has only gone and dropped a brand new song, which is accompanied by a video. The occasion for this new song? To pledge her love to her man of course! Beyonce – Die With You The singer isn’t opposed shocking her fans. She did nearly break iTunes with her surprise album last year, and the track really is a powerful one. It’s up there with some of her best, but there’s a catch. A major one. “Die With You” is being exclusively released through Jay Z’s new and controversial streaming service, Tidal. Should’ve seen that one coming, right? We don’t doubt that fans will be rushing to get their hands on it, but this really feels like a publicity stunt to benefit Tidal, rather than Queen Bey herself. The mogul’s new streaming service hasn’t received the best reaction from the public so far and Madonna even found herself defending it last week. Either way, Tidal subscribers have been promised exclusives from here on out; Alicia Keys has already put an exclusive video on streaming site. Will it work out for the company? What do you think of Beyonce’s decision to make this new track a Jay Z Tidal exclusive? Hit the comments to discuss! 7 Life Lessons Only Beyonce Can Teach 1. The Battle Rounds continued last night on NBC’s The Voice Season 8 Episode 7, with the coaches facing some difficult choices in terms of who to advance. Pharrell, in particular, seemed to agonize over one decision … Kimberly Nichole vs. Lowell Oakley (The Voice Battle Round) Kimberly Nichole vs. Lowell Oakley (Team Pharrell): Their duet on “Hound Dog” thoroughly flummoxed their coach, who took an eternity to declare a winner. Lowell was it. Somewhat surprisingly. Pharrell again crafted a terrific Battle Round performance, but one that assured he would cut loose a great talent. Luckily for the supremely strong Kimberly, she was stolen by Christina, who may have just landed one of the favorites to win this thing, by accident. Briar Jonnee vs. Caitlin Caporale (The Voice Battle Round) Briar Jonnee vs. Caitlin Caporale (Team Pharrell): This one wasn’t as challenging for their mentor. Both were good, but Caitlin was better. It showed. She won the battle, and no steal was used on Briar. Barry Minniefield vs. Jack Gregori (The Voice Battle Round) Barry Minniefield vs. Jack Gregori (Team Adam). Barry took this one rather easily (to us) and advanced to the Knockout Round with a victory over Jack. He’s “Feelin’ Alright” or better than alright after this effort. Katelyn Read vs. Treeva Gibson (The Voice Battle Round) Katelyn Read vs. Treeva Gibson (Team Christina): An unusual and slightly uneven but solid enough performance yielded a clear winner in Treeva. No steal was awarded to Katelyn, so she’s going home. Brenna Yaeger vs. Kelsie May (The Voice Battle Round) Brenna Yaeger vs. Kelsie May Team Blake): Not the best take on Reba’s “Fancy” by either singer, as both were a bit off at times and clearly nervous. Based on her potential, Brenna got the nod. No steal. India Carney vs. Clinton Washington (The Voice Battle Round) Clinton Washington vs. India Carney (Team Christina): Finally, a barn burner! India was incredible in winning this battle, but her rival also won acclaim. That was enough to keep Clinton on the program. Adam swooped in for the steal, meaning that both he and Christina ended the night by cutting one singer and adding another, better one to their rosters. Not bad for a night’s work on the hit competition. Who was your favorite on The Voice Season 8 Episode 7? Did the coaches make the right decisions? Whose team looks best so far? Hit the comments! The song, which Menzel performed at the 2014 Oscars, won Best Original Song there. Then John Travolta butchered her name in truly epic fashion. The acclaimed stage actress is also currently starring in Broadway’s “If/Then,” a story of a woman and multiple paths she could have taken during her life. “If/Then,” which will close in March, was nominated for the Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Actress in a Musical for Menzel’s performance. Menzel also starred on Broadway in “Wicked,” in which she portrayed the Wicked Witch of the West made famous in “The Wizard of Oz,” and “Rent.” Those who have performed America’s National Anthem at the Super Bowl recently include singer Renée Fleming, Alicia Keys, and Kelly Clarkson.
