T.J. Miller Accused of Sexual Assault; Actor Issues Firm Denial

Even if you don’t recognize the name T.J. Miller, you’re almost certainly familiar with the comic and actor’s work. Star of the popular HBO sitcom Silicon Valley , Miller’s distinctive voice can be heard often, in everything from commercials to cartoons. And now, his name has been added to the ever-growing list of powerful men in Hollywood who have been accused of sexual assault. The Daily Beast has published an account by a woman whose name was not given due to fears of reprisal. She says she dated Miller when they were both students at George Washington University in Washington. The relationship reportedly ended following a violent sexual encounter that left the woman traumatized. “He just tried a lot of things without asking me, and at no point asked me if I was all right,” she tells the outlet. “He choke[d] me, and I kept staring at his face hoping he would see that I was afraid and [that he] would stop… I couldn’t say anything.” The woman, who was referred to only as “Sarah” in the piece, says Miller punched her in the face during the encounter, bloodying her lip and breaking a tooth. Others who attended GWU with Sarah and Miller have come forward to corroborate her account, revealing that the allegations against the actor were common knowledge on campus. “I attended George Washington University for undergraduate studies from 2000 until December 2003… I had a romantic relationship with [this] woman, who spoke with me about T.J. Miller sexually assaulting her,” attorney Matt Lord wrote in a statement issued to The Daily Beast . “At the time I believed the statements she made regarding the assault by Mr. Miller, and I continue to believe the statements she made are true.” Lord added: “She was engaged in student conduct proceedings regarding the sexual assault, and I remember the emotional toll that the assault and the subsequent conduct hearings placed on her.” Anonymous sources who have worked with Miller claim the actor has a history of dismissing the allegations by making light of them. Many believe that it’s for this reason that prominent female comics and actresses have declined to work with Miller. T.J. and wife Kate Miller issued a statement today in which they denied the allegations and attempted to discredit the accuser. This is the couple’s statement (which was posted alongside the photo below on Kate’s Instagram page) in its entirety: “We met this woman over a decade ago while studying together in college, she attempted to break us up back then by plotting for over a year before making contradictory claims and accusations. “She attempted to discredit both of our voices and use us against one another by trying to portray Kate to be a continuous abuse victim of T.J. (further efforts to hurt the two of us). “She was asked to leave our university comedy group because of worrisome and disturbing behavior, which angered her immensely, she then became fixated on our relationship, and began telling people around campus “I’m going to destroy them” & “I’m going to ruin him. “We are confident that a full consideration of accounts from and since that time will shed light and clarity on the true nature of not only this person’s character, but also on the real facts of the matter. (See the e-mails referenced). “We stand together in stating this is nothing more than an unfortunate resurgence of her lies designed to wreak havoc on two happily married people in the public eye.” We’ll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available. Charlie Rose Responds to Allegations of Pervasive Sexual Harassment

The long and heretofore illustrious career of Charlie Rose may be over. The veteran journalist has been suspended by PBS and CBS amidst accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct. The accusations have been made by eight different women. In a bombshell report published on Monday by The Washington Post , these alleged victims shared eerily similar stories about how the reporter would act in horribly inappropriate ways toward them. There are accusations that Rose would place sexually explicit phone calls… expose his genitalia… and grope the women without their permission. Three of the women spoke on the record, while five spoke on the condition of anonymity. But all expressed stories that detailed how Rose would either walk out of a shower, naked, in their presence; and/or would grope their buttocks at company parties; and/or place his hand on their upper thigh, awaiting a reaction. Said Reah Bravo, who worked as an intern and then associate producer for Rose’s PBS show beginning in 2007: “It has taken 10 years and a fierce moment of cultural reckoning for me to understand these moments for what they were. “He was a sexual predator, and I was his victim.” The women were employees or aspired to work for Rose at The Charlie Rose Show from the late 1990s to as recently as 2011. They ranged in age from 21 to 37 at the time of the reported encounters. Rose is 75 years old and his one-on-one interview program airs on PBS and Bloomberg TV. He also co-hosts CBS This Morning and is a contributing correspondent for 60 Minutes. “In my 45 years in journalism, I have prided myself on being an advocate for the careers of the women with whom I have worked,” Rose said in a statement to the Washington Post, adding: “Nevertheless, in the past few days, claims have been made about my behavior toward some former female colleagues.” He continued as follows: It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior. I am greatly embarrassed. I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate. I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken. I have learned a great deal as a result of these events, and I hope others will too. All of us, including me, are coming to a newer and deeper recognition of the pain caused by conduct in the past, and have come to a profound new respect for women and their lives. Shortly after news of Rose’s allegations broke, PBS announced it is stopping production on the anchor’s self-titled program. Meanwhile, CBS News has also suspended him from his regular duties. Several weeks ago, allegations of assault were leveled by countless women against movie producer Harvey Weinstein. Since then, women around the country have been empowered to speak up, with stories popping up nearly everyday about allegedly heinous acts committed by such stars as Kevin Spacey, Louis C.K. and Jeffrey Tambor . Stephen Colbert Grills Ben Affleck on Sexual Harassment Allegations

In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sex scandals , numerous Hollywood power players have been taken to task for their deplorable behavior toward women, minors, and others who were in positions that left them vulnerable to being taken advantage of.  Some were complicit in Weinstein’s behavior, while others engaged in abuse and harassment of their own that was brought to light thanks to the example set by the disgraced mogul’s courageous accusers. Ben Affleck falls into both categories. Along with his childhood friend Matt Damon, Affleck rose to prominence with his performance in Goodwill Hunting , a film he also co-wrote with Damon, earning the young collaborators a pair of Best Original Screenplay Oscars. As with so many other films produced by conglomerate-owned “indie” outlets in the early ’90s, Hunting was ushered into existence by Harvey Weinstein. So like Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, and many others, Affleck and Damon were faced with some difficult questions following the revelations of Weinstein’s rampant abuse. Primarily, the public wanted to know if these men were aware of Weinstein’s behavior and if they took any steps to prevent it. Before he even had a chance to issue a response, however, Affleck was accused of groping an MTV host and harassing a Canadian entertainment journalist. The father of three laid low for a few weeks after that, and it’s been widely rumored that Affleck checked back into rehab recently. Of course, Ben long ago made the leap from indie darling to superhero franchise star, which means that when promotional obligations arise, he doesn’t have the option of keeping a low profile, even when riding out a scandal. As such, Affleck stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night for an interview with a host who’s been outspoken in his disgust with the recent round of appalling reports coming out of Hollywood. “I don’t remember it, but I absolutely apologized for it,” Affleck responded in response to Colbert’s question about allegations that he groped Hilarie Burton back in 2003. “I certainly don’t think she’s lying or making it up,” he added. “It’s just the kind of thing that we have to as men, I think, as we become more aware of this, be really, really mindful of our behavior and hold ourselves accountable and say, ‘If I was ever part of the problem, I want to change. I want to be part of the solution,’ and to not shy away from these uncomfortable or awkward or strange encounters that we might’ve had where we were sort of navigating and not knowing.” It’s a bit odd that Affleck suggested there might be any doubt as to whether or not the incident took place, considering it was caught on camera, but … at least he’s trying? Asked about his ties to Weinstein, Affleck had this to say: “It was awful to see the extent of these terrible crimes and it was hideous. I haven’t worked for Harvey in more than 15 years, but nonetheless, I felt this attachment. “I did movies like Good Will Hunting , Shakespeare in Love and Chasing Amy – early movies that I really loved doing, when I still was totally brand new. “And so it sort of rained that a little bit to realize while we were having these experiences and making these movies, there were people who ere suffering and dealing with awful experiences. I didn’t really know what to do with that, you know? It’s hard to know.” Again, it would have been better if Ben didn’t feel the need to preface his remarks with a lame attempt at self-absolution (“Sure Harvey basically kicked off my career, but we haven’t worked together … since I was in my thirties!”) but at least he’s taking part in this crucial conversation. The fact is, in the weeks and months that follow, more stars and power players–some of whom may be deeply beloved by large segments of the population–will be implicated in acts of sexual misconduct of varying severity. For some, there can be no redemption. Others may find themselves in positions where forgiveness might be possible, but it certainly won’t come easy. Ben’s right when he says men in all industries and of all orientations must be more mindful of his behavior. We just wish his comments didn’t come on the heels of a whole lot of back-pedaling and justification. View Slideshow: Weinstein Scandal: Which Powerful Men Are Accused of Sexual Misconduct?

Louis C.K. Admits: “These Stories are True”

After years of rumors followed the comedian, five women have come forward and accused Louis C.K. of sexual harassment . Now that these rumors have become outspoken allegations, and now that he’s getting slammed by comedians and fans alike , Louis C.K. is making a statement. And he’s … admitting to it. To all of it. Louis C.K.’s statement gets right to the point: “I want to address the stories told to The New York Times by five women named Abby, Rebecca, Dana, Julia who felt able to name themselves and one who did not.” Here it comes: “These stories are true.” We’ve all wondered what’s must have been going through his mind as he pulled out his penis in front of various women. (We no longer have to write “allegedly” for him!) Louis C.K. provides a little insight: “At the time, I said to myself that what I did was O.K. because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true.” That … sounds like some bizarre mental gymnastics were going on in his mind to excuse his behavior. The sort of excuse that only he himself could buy. “But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn’t a question. It’s a predicament for them.” Power can mean professional authority. It can mean celebrity status. It can even mean physical strength and size. Remember, folks: the cashier or barista smiles at you because it’s literally part of her job, not because she wants to see your genitals. “The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly. I have been remorseful of my actions. And I’ve tried to learn from them. And run from them. Now I’m aware of the extent of the impact of my actions.” Louis C.K.’s statement continues: “I learned yesterday the extent to which I left these women who admired me feeling badly about themselves and cautious around other men who would never have put them in that position.” One of those women said that the experience discouraged her from pursuing her career in comedy. “I also took advantage of the fact that I was widely admired in my and their community, which disabled them from sharing their story and brought hardship to them when they tried because people who look up to me didn’t want to hear it.” That “widely admired” bit sounds a little like self-praise, which is not tonally appropriate … but maybe he’s just trying to make sure that people understand that he knows that it was wrong and why? “I didn’t think that I was doing any of that because my position allowed me not to think about it.” A lot of men never think about the damage that they do. “There is nothing about this that I forgive myself for. And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with.” That’s proper. “I wish I had reacted to their admiration of me by being a good example to them as a man and given them some guidance as a comedian, including because I admired their work.” “The hardest regret to live with is what you’ve done to hurt someone else.” Well, maybe his hardest regret. “And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them.” Louis C.K.’s actions are now impacting more than just himself and these women. Remember, HBO gave him the axe. “I’d be remiss to exclude the hurt that I’ve brought on people who I work with and have worked with who’s professional and personal lives have been impacted by all of this, including projects currently in production: the cast and crew of Better Things, Baskets, The Cops, One Mississippi, and I Love You, Daddy.” That’s a lot of people screwed over, professionally, because Louis C.K. couldn’t keep it in his pants (literally). “I deeply regret that this has brought negative attention to my manager Dave Becky who only tried to mediate a situation that I caused.” If you don’t want to negatively impact the people who consider it their job to clean up your messes, maybe don’t make messes. (Some have pointed out that Louis C.K.’s wealth is in the 8 digits, and that he mgiht want to cut some checks to the people whom he’s left hanging) “I’ve brought anguish and hardship to the people at FX who have given me so much The Orchard who took a chance on my movie. and every other entity that has bet on me through the years.” We cannot imagine how his family is feeling right now. “I’ve brought pain to my family, my friends, my children and their mother.” Louis C.K. finishes off his statement with this: “I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want. I will now step back and take a long time to listen. Thank you for reading.” It’s good that he’s admitting this, and a refreshing change from endless denials in Hollywood , but we’d like to point out a couple of things: One: if there was a actual, explicit apology in this, we don’t think that we saw it. Maybe it’s implied , but that’s actually not how apologies work. You have to say them. Two: some have pointed out that Louis C.K. could have spoken out years ago when Gawker (before the site was destroyed by a vengeful, Trump-supporting billionaire) first talked about these rumors. Or in the summer of 2016, when Roseanne Barr spoke about it . It almost seems, to some, that Louis C.K. was less concerned about how his actions impacted these women … and was only moved to speak up because it’s now hurting his career . That’s a cynical view, but … you can see why people feel that way. Especially people who have their own #MeToo stories and will never trust the people responsible for them. Roy Moore: Alabama Senate Candidate Accused of Child Molestation

Former Alabama Supreme Court judge and current US Senate candidate Roy Moore has always been a controversial figure. After all, this is a man whose homophobic, racist, and anti-Muslim views earned him a reputation as a bigot even by the standards of Alabama Republicans. But despite being twice removed from the bench for ethical violations, Moore has risen through this party’s ranks to become a figure of national prominence. In September, he defeated Trump-backed candidate Luther Strange in a run-off election and became the GOP’s nominee to fill the Senate seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. During his campaign, Moore brandished a gun onstage, blamed the Sandy Hook massacre on a lack of school prayer, and called for the impeachment of judges who have  Astonishingly, it seems these views have only served to increase Moore’s popularity with his base. But now, the 70-year-old finds himself at the heart of a scandal that may cost him the support of even his most fervent supporters. The Washington Post has interviewed four women who say they were subjected to unwanted sexual advances by Moore in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when he was in his thirties and they were in their teens. Leigh Corfman tells the newspaper she was just 14 when Moore groped her and forced her to touch his genitals at his home in rural Alabama. “I wanted it over with — I wanted out,” she remembers thinking. “Please just get this over with. Whatever this is, just get it over.” Three women have independently claimed that Moore kissed them, inappropriately touched them, and plied them with alcohol when they were between the ages of 15 and 17. Moore has denied the allegations in a statement issued by his campaign team: “These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign,” the statement reads. Adopting the favorite counter-argument of Trump-era Republicans, a rep for Moore added, “This garbage is the very definition of fake news.” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other prominent Republicans have stated that Moore should step aside if there’s any  truth to the allegations. Others, however, have mounted absurd defenses of Moore, including Alabama state auditor Jim Ziegler, who went viral with this asinine argument: “Take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus,” Ziegler told the Washington Examiner. Currently, Moore has no plans to bring an end to his campaign. He is set to face off against Democratic challenger Doug Jones in a special election on December 12. View Slideshow: 15 Celebrities Who Have Been Sexually Assaulted

14 Famously Dumb Halloween Costumes

Halloween is a time for three things: For kids to dress in some kind of adorable outfit. For women to turn the most benign of costumes into the skankiest of costumes . For celebrities to cross certain lines with their controversial costume ideas. With the third point in mind, we present 14 especially scandalous celebrity Halloween costumes over recent years: 1. Tomi Lahren as…The Flag? Tomi Lahren thinks she’s being all Patriotic with this photo. But she’s really in violation of the flag code. 2. Snooki as a Missing Child It may sort of seem like a silly concept, but milk cartons are actually used sometimes to alert people to missing children. Not exactly something one should mock, Snooki. 3. Julianne Hough as Crazy Eyes Julianne Hough going as a character from Orange is the New Black was a funny idea. She just should have avoided the whole blackface thing. 4. Chris Brown as a Terrorist Chris Brown went as a member of the Taliban in 2012. We were impressed he managed to dress up as the one type of person more hated than he is. 5. Bill Maher as Steve Irwin In 2006, mere months after the death of Steve Irwin, Bill Maher dressed as a “dead” version of the crocodile hunter. His outfit included a bloody stinger stinking out of his chest. 6. Adrianne Curry as Amy Winehouse Adrianne Curry dressed as Amy Winehouse in 2009. The costume included a beehive wig and a fake hypodermic needle sticking out of her arm. Yikes! View Slideshow

Jeremy Piven "Unequivocally" Denies Sexual Misconduct Claim

Jeremy Piven has issued a statement in response to sexual harassment allegations leveled at him by former reality star Ariane Bellamar. Earlier today, we reported on a number of disturbing Tweets posted by Bellamar, who guest-starred many years ago on an episode of Entourage. Piven, of course, is best known for having portrayed super agent Ari Gold throughout the duration of that long-running comedy. In her barrage of social media messages, Bellamar tagged Piven and reminded him of two alleged times in which he groped her private body parts. “Hey @jeremypiven! ‘Member when you cornered me in your trailer on the #Entourage set? ‘Member grabbing my boobies on the without asking??” she wrote, later adding a pair of texts that read: Member when I tried to leave; you grabbed me by the ass, looked at yourself in the mirror, & said what a ‘beautiful couple’ we made? Jeremy Piven, on two occasions, cornered me & forcefully fondled my breasts & bum. Once at the mansion & once on set. Bellamar – who appeared as herself on installments of Beverly Hills Nannies and The Millionaire Matchmaker and who has had bit parts in various movies – also referenced “explicit” texts she supposedly received from Piven. In response to these allegations, the Emmy-winning actor has now said the following: “I unequivocally deny the appalling allegations being peddled about me. It did not happen.” Recognizing in general how difficult it is for victims of sexual harassment and assault to come forward, Piven concluded: “It takes a great deal of courage for victims to come forward with their histories, and my hope is that the allegations about me that didn’t happen, do not detract from stories that should be heard.” Piven was in New York City on Tuesday to promote his awful CBS drama, Wisdom of the Crowd. In a statement of its own, the network says it is “aware of the media reports and [is] looking into the matter.” Over the past few weeks, the topic of sexual harassment in Hollywood has been especially prominent after countless women accused producer Harvey Weinstein of misconduct or even flat out rape. The courage of the alleged victims who have called Weinstein out for his abhorrent behavior has inspired others to do the same. Actor Anthony Rapp, for instance, says that Kevin Spacey attempted to sexually assault him at a party back in 1986, a charge Spacey did not deny. Andy Dick, meanwhile, has been dropped from the independent feature film Raising Buchanan following accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct on set. “I might have kissed somebody on the cheek to say goodbye and then licked them,” Dick said as a defense of his actions, adding: “That’s my thing.” Yeah. Maybe it shouldn’t be. View Slideshow: #MeToo: Stars Share Stories of Sexual Harassment, Assault

Jackson Roloff is Dressed Like a Pumpkin and We May Just Die of Cuteness Overload

We don’t know whether this story about a feud between Matt and Amy Roloff is legitimate or not. It could be an example of fake news. But we do know one surefire way of making us forget that some tension may exist between family members on Little People, Big World. And that is this: Dress Jackson Kyle Roloff up like a pumpkin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As previously reported, Roloff Farms opened for pumpkin-picking business this past weekend in Oregon. The event brought with it thousands of visitors from around the state, all of whom stopped by this famous location to gather up some supplies and decorations for the fall. We’re just focused at the moment on one of those visitors, however. Probably the youngest one of the bunch. And definitely the cutest. As documented by his parents and his grandparents on Instagram, Jackson clearly had an adorable blast at his family’s compound, posing not just alongside a pumpkin (below), but also as a pumpkin (above). How ridiculously precious is that picture?!? “I’d say Jackson’s first weekend out at the patch was a success!” Tori Roloff wrote at one point on Instagram, adding: “thank you so much to everyone that came out! #rolofffarms #storyofzachandtori #ZandTPartyofThree #babyjroloff.” As if the excitement of picking pumpkins wasn’t enough, meanwhile, Jackson also helped grandpa Matt Roloff celebrate his birthday a couple days ago. Naturally, Tori captured this moment on social media as well. “Happy birthday Grandpa Roloff! We love you! If you guys are out at the patch today make sure and wish the old man a happy birthday,” she captioned the image below. TLC is yet to announce a premiere date for the new season of Little People, Big World, but it’s safe to assume cameras were on hand for the farm’s big opening. We also assume fresh episodes will air some time this fall, but we’re still awaiting confirmation from the network. Fortunately, members of this fun family have been busy on Instagram, sharing pictures of new baby Jackson and even newer baby Ember, who was born to Audrey and Jeremy Roloff last month. Heck, there’s even a picture of Jackson AND Ember together . There are also constant snapshot of Tori, Zach and their five-month old, such as the one featured here: Look for the upcoming season to focus on how Zach and Tori have been raising Jackson, along with a a chronicling of Audrey and Jeremy’s path to parenthood. Will Jacob be featured at all this fall? Will we see footage of Molly Roloff’s wedding ? While you ponder those questions, check out memorable pictures below of little Jackson Kyle. We love him so much. View Slideshow: Jackson Roloff Baby Photos: OMG! He’s So Cute!
