The Rubicon WTF? Factor: Parsing the Headscratch-y Reality of AMC’s Newest Series

So: Did you watch Rubicon last night? Whether the first-episode preview lived up to the hype you had in mind, it boasted one quality we can all agree on: Jason Horwitch’s show promises more than just an little bit out there . Thank goodness for Movieline’s Rubicon WTF ? Factor, a handy metric deriving each episode’s most quizzical matters on a scale of 0 to 30, broken down byt the degree of difficulty to understand, the developments’ plausibility, and Horwitch and Co.’s execution of each. Together, we will get our heads around this show. At least until it introduces a Smoke Monster, at which point I got nothing. (Needless to say, SPOILERS AHEAD. )

Movieline Checks in with Criminal Minds’s New Sociopath Tim Curry

If you consider yourself part of a cult film’s fanbase, there’s a distinct chance you believe Tim Curry is a god among men, or at least a sweet transvestite among plainclothes comic icons. On the red carpet before the taping of the AFI Life Achievement Awards Honoring Mike Nichols , Movileline spoke with the Rocky Horror Picture Show / Clue legend about how he won his newest role as a horrifying psychopath on CBS’ s Criminal Minds . It’s a slap in the face to those who claim you can’t get ahead by harassing actresses at the gym.

Breaking Bad Creator Vince Gilligan on AMC’s ‘Big Balls’ and a Potential Fifth Season

Over the course of three seasons, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has transformed his protagonist from a spineless husband and chemistry teacher into a cold-hearted meth chemist who neglects his family in order to churn out hundreds of pounds of lethal crystal for cash. The role, born somewhere deep in Gilligan’s subconscious, won star Bryan Cranston back-to-back Emmys, and tied together three seasons of one of the best (and darkest) dramas on television today. Gilligan himself, though, could not be any more different than the grim world and characters he created. In anticipation of this Sunday’s season finale, the native Virginian — who also wrote and produced over 30 episodes of The X Files and penned the Will Smith blockbuster Hancock — phoned Movieline to cheerfully talk about the nuttiest scene he ever wrote for Walt (that never made it to air), the encouragement of AMC, and the possibility of renewing Breaking Bad for a fifth season.

AMC Secretly Launching New Drama This Sunday

Last summer, Fox debuted Glee by airing the pilot episode right at the beginning of summer, then kept the rest of the series under wraps until the fall season. AMC is ganking that strategy for the launch of its new drama Rubicon , which launches this Sunday after Breaking Bad and then doesn’t return until August 1. There’s just one difference — AMC is barely doing a damn thing to promote it, and the screening isn’t even listed on their website. What gives?

AMC’s New Walking Dead Zombie Pics Bear the Funk of 40,000 Years

There simply aren’t many ways to re-imagine “zombies” for a new audience. But take a look at AMC’ s just-released stills from the upcoming Frank Darabont drama Walking Dead . The ghostly harridan up top looks like a certain John Landis/Rick Baker collaboration featuring that kid from The Wiz . Terrorizing y’allz neighborhood, indeed, Vincent Price! Around the edges, she picks up a little of Carol Kane as Granny in Addams Family Values , which is nice. A pair of more horrifying Walking Dead characters follows.

Who’ll Be Back for the Next Season of Mad Men?

The Mad Men season finale left a real easy way to get rid of a whole bunch of cast members. So, who is going to leave this critically-acclaimed show for fame and fortune and who is here to stay?
