Did you know that Glee ‘s Amber Riley auditioned for American Idol at age 17? Randy Jackson is just finding out. “Yo, that girl Amber Riley, she I guess, I didn’t know this, she didn’t make it to us,” he told Extra . “She auditioned for Idol and got rejected. She’s like the lead singer, the lead star of Glee , and let me tell you something America, this girl is talented and she can really sing.” I’m sure Riley auditioned just for the approval of Randy Jackson, so this is probably quite validating. Could AMC’s Secret Show Rubicon Be the Next Lost or X-Files?

Looks like the marketing team over at AMC has actually decided to rouse itself and cut together a real, honest-to-goodness trailer for Rubicon , the secret series that will premiere with virtually no promotion after the Breaking Bad finale this Sunday. The good news? It looks like it could potentially fill the clue-assembling void left by Lost and The X-Files .

AMC Secretly Launching New Drama This Sunday

Last summer, Fox debuted Glee by airing the pilot episode right at the beginning of summer, then kept the rest of the series under wraps until the fall season. AMC is ganking that strategy for the launch of its new drama Rubicon , which launches this Sunday after Breaking Bad and then doesn’t return until August 1. There’s just one difference — AMC is barely doing a damn thing to promote it, and the screening isn’t even listed on their website. What gives?

The network announced the return date overnight, confirming the rough July projection reported here a few weeks ago; it also took pains soften show creator Matthew Weiner’s suggestion the other day that Mad Men is half-over.
