Wayne Static of the rock band Static-X has died, according to reports. A statement on his Facebook page confirmed his passing at age 48. No details on the cause of Static’s death have been made available. Static, whose real name was Wayne Richard Wells, was best known as the frontman and lead guitarist of the band Static-X throughout a long musical career. That band released six albums between 1999-2009. The band’s 1999 effort, Wisconsin Death Trip , was certified platinum for over 1 million units shipped, the Recording Industry Association of America shows. He also released a solo album, Pighammer , in 2013. The disguised mob were seemingly taking part in the ‘evil clown’ craze seen both in the US and in Britain. The group were arrested last night in a school car park in the Mediterranean resort of Agde, with police claiming that they had been ‘laughing manically’ while chasing locals with weapons. A French national police spokesman said: “Since mid-October, a rumour inspired by videos published on the Internet has created the presence of threatening and aggressive clowns in France. “Symptomatic of the impact of the Internet, this phenomenon can lead to damaging individual acts and disturbances to public order.” The arrests come after a man dressed as a clown was caught in Montpellier last week, attacking a pedestrian with an iron bar. The menacing phenomenon is thought to have been inspired by both a viral YouTube video showing a terrifying clown scaring people, and a recent episode of US TV series American Horror Story featuring Twisty the killer clown. In the northern French town of Bethune, a fake clown also received a six-month suspended jail term last week for threatening passers-by. London’s Metropolitan Police has been dealing with 117 clown-related incidents in 2013 across the capital alone. In Portsmouth, a masked figure lurking in the streets began stroking passers-by with a single red-gloved finger this month. The CDC confirmed today that they let her board the flight, since her temperature was below the threshold of 100.4F. But the health organization’s Director Thomas Frieden initially said she should not have been on a commercial flight, after having treated Duncan in the first ‘high-risk’ days of his stay at Texas Health Presbyterian hospital. Piers Morgan is tackling the subject of racism and racial profiling in America in his latest Mail Online ponderings . We excerpted a small part of his essay below because we were eager to see whether or not you agree with him that America has become more racist since Obama’s election. Peep part of what he said below: A fascinating poll published on Wednesday detailed the huge disparity between the way whites and blacks view race issues. Just 16 per cent of whites believe there is a ‘lot’ of discrimination in America today – compared to 56 per cent of blacks. Incredibly, white perceptions of anti-black bias have plummeted to the point where many think anti-white bias is a bigger problem. A plainly ludicrous sentiment. Blacks in America remain the most impoverished, poorly-educated, imprisoned and discriminated-against section of society. To pretend otherwise is to be seriously deluded. However, it’s also an incontrovertible truth that the place where most young black Americans are shot dead is Chicago – and the vast majority are killed by other young black Americans, in the ongoing gang wars that shame that city. My belief is that America remains a racial tinderbox. Many people assumed Barack Obama’s ascent to the highest office in the land meant the end of racism in the United States. ‘How could we elect a black president if we’re still racist?’ was the logic. But if anything, I’d argue that America is now more racist than it was before Obama was elected. Or at the very least, the angry racist minority (but still many millions of people) is more vocal – enraged by the whole notion of a black man living at the White House. Having said that, America is clearly massively less racist than it was 40 years ago. It has come a long way, very fast. What is desperately needed now is a sustained period of calm, rational reaction on all sides to the myriad incidents that occur on a daily basis in the United States where race might be seen as an issue, even where it isn’t.
