Source: Bill Clark / Getty Rep. Steve King Stripped Of House Committee Seats After Racist Remarks You GOTTA be a flaming racist if even the Republicans are kicking you out of their lil’ conservative clubhouse. According to The Washington Post , Rep. Steve King of Iowa was unanimously voted out of his three seats on prestigious House committees Monday afternoon after making yet another extremely racist remark. King has a long history of making comments that earned him the title of bigot, we reported on his most recent racist rhetoric last week when he questioned why white supremacy was such a bad thing. Yes, a man who white people voted into office to govern the United States of America doesn’t see why people are so offended by a lil’ white supremacy. Doesn’t everyone like a lil’ white supremacy in their coffee? No? Just Steve King and 53% of white women? Got it. Sure, maybe some of the GOPers aren’t cool with King’s comments, but he’s literally been saying these things for YEARS. This smells more like damage control for the 2020 election more than righteous indignation toward the fellow red state racist. “That is not the party of Lincoln,” he said of King’s comments. “It is definitely not American. All people are created equal in America, and we want to take a very strong stance about that.” Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California offered this rebuke: “That is not the party of Lincoln,” he said of King’s comments. “It is definitely not American. All people are created equal in America, and we want to take a very strong stance about that.” Oh, are they now? That’s news to us… Continue reading →
Source: Michael Lavine/ FOX / Michael Lavine/ FOX “The Passage” Actress Caroline Chikezie Says The Show Is Full Of Black Girl Magic Tonight FOX is set to air their new show “THE PASSAGE.” which focuses on Project NOAH, a secret medical facility where scientists are experimenting with a dangerous virus that could lead to the cure for all disease, but also carries the potential to wipe out the human race. When a young girl, Amy Bellafonte (played by Saniyya Sidney, who was in Fences’ and ‘Hidden Figures’) is chosen as a test subject, Federal agent Brad Wolgast (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) is tasked with bringing her to Project NOAH, but ultimately becomes her surrogate father who does everything in his power to protect her. The show also stars British actress Caroline Chikezie who also appeared on the cable series “The Shannara Chronicles,” the streaming series “The Governor,” which was filmed in Nigeria and in the award-winning film ‘Babymother.’ Chikezie was also featured in “Eragon,” “Aeon Flux,” “Breaking and Entering” and “The Sweeney.” We spoke with Caroline about her role as Major Nichole Sykes, the many instances of black girl magic on “The Passage” and filming in Atlanta vs. filming in Nigeria. Check out our interview below. Source: Michael Lavine/ FOX / Michael Lavine/ FOX BOSSIP: Tell us about what drew you to this show and this role? Caroline Chikezie: It all started when I got the script for the pilot. I loved it and as I read it I could just see myself being Dr. Sykes, so that’s always a good thing. I just auditioned and got to be the last woman standing. My character is a very complicated individual. She’s a King because she commands men, and is fearless. Very fearless. The type of person you’d want to have on your side in a crisis situation, she’s very cool under pressure. She understands that there will be consequences for decisions she makes and is willing and capable to accept whatever fallout comes from her decisions. She’s a bad a**. A strong, black woman unapologetically. BOSSIP: Black girl magic was such a big thing in 2018. Could we touch a little on that and how the show taps into it with your character and Saniyya Sidney’s character Amy Bellafonte? CC: First of all, Saniyya is a movie star. I wouldn’t even call her a princess, I’d call her a queen. She’s so mature. Acting is just so effortless to her. It’s just awesome to watch her grow and when you think black girl magic there’s nothing more magical than Saniyya Sidney as the lead role Amy and my role as Major Nichole Sykes. For young girls watching we’re giving the opportunity to show that we are capable of anything. When I was growing up, we could only get the best friend role, or the role where we are killed, or hurt, or a lowly girl. Not that any role is lowly, because it is an honor to be cast when working as an actress, but just like finally we get to be represented as strong woman roles because that’s our rightful pace. We should be celebrating it, so I’m grateful. Source: Michael Lavine/ FOX / Michael Lavine/ FOX BOSSIP: Why should Bossip readers be interested in watching “The Passage”? CC: It’s got something for everybody! You’ve got the big heart, you’ve got a love triangle. My character is involved in a love triangle — we’ll see how that unfolds. There are a lot of characters I feel like your readers can connect with. Like mine and her journey through the show. How she handles being in an interracial relationship, how she navigates being a boss lady in a white environment. There’s loads of issues I think readers can relate to. BOSSIP: Is there anything you’ve learned that would be useful in an apocalyptic event? CC: I had to do some shooting practice, because my character uses guns, so I’ve learned that. Also, my character is a runner so if there’s ever an apocalypse I’ll be able to run! Source: Michael Lavine/ FOX / Michael Lavine/ FOX BOSSIP: What are the pros and cons of shooting in Atlanta vs. filming in Nigeria? CC: I love shooting in Nigeria, because of the food mostly. I’m British-Nigerian. The closest I’ll get to feeling like I’m home in America is shooting in Atlanta. I love Atlanta, in fact, I plan to move there. I was born and raised in the UK. Check out a fun video of Caroline and her costars from “The Passage” below: “The Passage” airs tonight Monday, January 14 on FOX. Will you be watching?
Source: Bill Clark / Getty Republican Congressman Steve King Makes Racist Remarks Despite America touting itself as “the land of the free and the home of the brave” the idea that there are racist politicians isn’t lost on anyone, at least not anyone with melanin in their skin. That said, its still no less disturbing to hear the people who govern this country spout off racist rhetoric without even the faints veil over it. For example, take these remarks by Republican KKKongressman (Iowa) Steve King to the NYTimes : “White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” he was quoted as telling the Times in a story published on Thursday. “Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?” King went on to say: Reflecting on the record number of black people and women in the new Congress, he added: “You could look over there and think the Democratic Party is no country for white men.” We’ve covered KKKongressman King in the past and he’s no lover of Black and brown people let us be the first to tell you. We can’t wait for old people like Steve King to die and rid us of their toxic brand of government.
Source: MCT / Getty Is America ready for its first Black female president? California Senator Kamala Harris sure thinks so and sources believe she might prove this theory with her own run in 2020. According to KCBS Radio , sources claim that Harris, 54, plans on throwing her hat in the presidential election ring, most likely announcing her bid on or around Martin Luther King Jr. Day in a rally in her hometown of Oakland. However, one of Harris’ reps told The Hill on Thursday that no announcement is imminent and she will not be in Oakland during the holiday weekend. Meanwhile Harris, 54, hasn’t confirmed her run for President, but has said in numerous interviews that she will make that decision soon. . @CapehartJ asks Sen. Kamala Harris about running for president: “Do you have a timetable for making a decision?” @KamalaHarris “Soon.” Watch full conversation here: https://t.co/3Pi4VLADqo pic.twitter.com/UbkcEIvP7M — CSPAN (@cspan) January 10, 2019 Sen. Kamala Harris on 2020: “I will make my decision soon.” https://t.co/MT4uEd7CcU pic.twitter.com/PlIs7QEswY — The Hill (@thehill) January 10, 2019 Over the past weeks, Harris been making the media rounds, promoting her new book, “The Truths We Hold: An American Journey.” During a recent interview on ABC’s “The View” Harris stressed she believes that after President Trump, this country has evolved enough to have a woman of color as the leader of the free world. “I’m not saying that about myself, but I am saying that about the capacity of the American public,” Harris said, adding, “We need to give the American public more credit. They are smarter than that.” “Despite a woman’s role in the world, there are still certain myths of what a woman can and cannot do,” Harris said, citing her mother. As a woman of color, Harris is no stranger to breaking the political glass ceiling in her state, which is why her mother warned her about the racial and gender stereotypes she would face. “In spite of the fact that it is the woman who is the lioness, protecting those cubs. In spite of the fact that it is the woman at the kitchen table at midnight balancing those books,” Harris stressed. “There are so many myths that we still are challenged with,” she continued. “But with each woman who gains success, I think there is a greater appreciation and understanding of the capacity and breadth and depth of who women are and what we can do.” This news of running definitely has some folks on Twitter excited: Apparently Kamala Harris is running for President and she will do a formal announcement around MLK birthday Historic!! Behati Prinsloo is the pussy that Adam Levine managed to manipulate into marrying his fat wallet…and having kids with his fat wallet..because she was an immigrant, from who the fuck knows where, and she figured that he was a big star in America…without realizing how embarrassing he is for America….it’s not her fault, she was thrown into the Victoria’s Secret model life and had to land a millionaire, billionaire, famous person, whatever and he was on TV with his Hit Show…and on the radio with his hit band…to an outsider…he definitely didn’t seem like the fucking worst…yet he is…the fucking worst… Here she is in bikini bottoms…. Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian with their wet asses in the hot tub. I asked a friend and pop culture expert….because I am confused by the subject and it always comes up in my mind….which is why no Christian fundamentalist crazy person, or really any crazy person has tried to kill the Kardashians. They are the biggest threat on the future of America…. He said they are too famous, not actual important enough to kill, and have too much security….to which I said “rocket launcher”….to which he said that they are pretty much untouchable…like Trump….who is also a masterful media manipulator who managed some amazing things with Social Media marketing tactics…..to which I said at least trump is entertaining…..to which he agreed… There is nothing good about the Kardashians, their egos, their narcissism, their knowledge and expertise of social media manipulation to benefit themselves, their money grubbing, their celebrity, their marketing, their muppet faces and lipsuctioned stomachs…they are not hot, interesting or entertaining…and even when they get half naked, I’m like…there are so many hot chicks half naked…I don’t care for some overyhype, daughter of a tranny….or her hairy brown sister who is the daughter of OJs lawyer….no matter how much money they’ve managed to squeeze out of the idiots…they are still bootleg garbage to me…. Yet the exist, they continue to exist, despite being the biggest threat on America…and that makes no sense…..but I guess the world makes no sense.
