Vanessa Williams is finally cleaning out her closet Vanessa Williams Reveals Abusive Sexual Past In Nightline Interview Having opened up earlier this month about the sexual abuse she suffered as a 10-year-old, Vanessa Williams is now revealing her heartbreaking secret high school pregnancy that ended in abortion. “Being pregnant is the most frightening thing that happens in your life,” revealed the 49-year-old Desperate Housewives star during an interview with ABC’s Nightline. “I knew in high school that’s something that I was not prepared to do, or fight, or struggle with.” The actress claims her early sexual awakening was a direct response to the molestation she suffered at the hands of a female family friend, as RadarOnline.com previously reported. “I think I was highly sexualized because I was in fifth grade and I had this experience,” she explained. “Because it feels good, you’re like, OK, well this is supposed to be normal. That’s not normal for a 10-year-old to be seduced.” While appearing on Nightline with her mom, Helen Williams, Vanessa revealed how she had aborted her baby as a teen because she was too scared to tell her parents about her fall from grace. Now a mother of four, the Ugly Betty star remained close-lipped about the abuse for many years, but she’s now sharing her sad secret in her upcoming memoir, You Have No Idea. In the book, Vanessa also tells-all about the infamous photoshoot that cost her the Miss America tiara. “I started out on top of a cab and ended up in a studded collar upstairs an hour later,” Williams said. “That was my joke, saying, you know, ‘How could I go from this trusting, you know, photo shoot, to being in S&M clothing within the same shoot with a guy I didn’t know.’” Ultimately, the snapper didn’t keep his word, and Vanessa was catapulted from the stage of Miss America to the pages of Penthouse, leading to a sex scandal that cost the beauty queen her crown. “I’ve learned to embrace my past. I embrace the choices that I have been given in my life,” she concluded. The full interview airs on ABC’s Nightline on Tuesday night at 11:35 p.m. EST. ‘I wanted to pick a wild name,’ N.O.R.E. tells Mixtape Daily of his new Crack on Steroids tape. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Adam Murphy N.O.R.E. Photo: MTV News Main Pick Headliners : N.O.R.E. and DJ Green Lantern Representing : Queens, New York Mixtape : Crack on Steroids Real Spit : The Super Thug is back at it again. Almost a year after dropping his N.O.R.E.aster EP, Noreaga returns with the drug-induced Crack on Steroids. “I wanted to pick a wild name so when people look at it, they’ll say, ‘What the hell is that?’ ” N.O.R.E. told Mixtape Daily about his latest release. Picking up where he left off last year with his street single “Nore Shot Somebody,” the C-N-N rapper keeps things “Grimey” on the tape-opening “Kenny Powers.” It’s not exactly an ode to the popular HBO comedy ; instead, N.O. uses Danny McBride’s fictional character as a thinly veiled reference to his distinct brand of cocaine. While partner-in-rhyme Capone was locked up in the late 1990s, N.O.R.E. proved he could hold things down as a soloist, crafting a number of hits like “Super Thug” and “Grimey.” On C.O.S., however, the Queens, New York, MC invites a number of his rap friends to the party. RZA shows up for “Hare Krishna” and Game, Busta Rhymes and Waka Flocka Flame pitch in on the Chris Brown-sampling “Lehhhgooo.” On the latter, producer Charli Brown flips Breezy’s opening ad lib from “Look at Me Now” and turns it into a catchy chorus. Wale also jumps on “Get Her” and will.i.am channels Slick Rick on “We Ain’t,” then Nore’s latest signee, Glacierz, proves she can hang with the fellas and delivers a standout verse on “War Song.” For all his guest spots, though, N.O.R.E. maintains his vibe throughout the tape — not that we expected anything less. ‘Her story is among my favorites, because she’s not a hero,’ he says of Scarlett Johansson’s character for Summer Movie Preview Week. By Kara Warner Captain America in “Avengers” Photo: Walt Disney Studios One of the most intriguing aspects about the very highly anticipated and superhero-studded “Marvel’s The Avengers” is in wondering how much the audience will see of each individual character, as well as what the actor in question has brought to the table in portraying a new side of their respective Marvel hero in the massive film. When MTV News caught up with mastermind and director Joss Whedon recently, we asked him if any of his castmembers brought something extra to the film via their pre-production knowledge or ideas about their storied characters. “They’re all very serious, dedicated people,” Whedon said with pride. “Scarlett [Johansson] knew more about the Black Widow than I did; that was a bit of a surprise. She claims that it was all from Wikipedia, though.” Whedon said Johansson’s character arc is one of his favorites in the film, because it’s so much different from that of the other bona fide superheroes like Captain America and Iron Man. “Her story is among my favorites, because she’s not a hero. She doesn’t live in a hero’s world; she lives in a very noir/duplicitous world of being a spy, and there’s a darkness to her and her past,” he explained. “There’s also a real beauty to her relationship with Clint Barton [a.k.a. Hawkeye] that, for me, is as exciting as anything in the movie, really.” For her part, Johansson joked with us recently at the film’s premiere that because Widow isn’t a superhero, she’s happy she survived the action-packed shoot. “We all took a pretty big beating,” she said. “I would have to say either [Black] Widow or Hawkeye [get their butts kicked hardest]. We’re on the ground, so we’re fighting hand-to-hand and it hurts.” She also teased a pretty epic fight sequence with another character she couldn’t name. “All I can say is that I had to fight someone else in this film, and they beat the crap out of me in stunt rehearsals. I have to say I could not believe it,” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Can you hold it back, OK? You know, I’m trying to work it out here. I’ve got smaller muscles than you,’ ” Johansson said. “I was dragged across the [floor]. When we finally finished [filming] that scene I was just happy to be alive.” It’s Summer Movie Preview Week, and MTV News will be bringing you exclusive interviews, clips and photos for the most anticipated summer movies . ‘Avengers’ stars discuss the possibility with MTV News. By Kara Warner Mark Ruffalo Photo: MTV News With anticipation for upcoming blockbuster “Marvel’s The Avengers” hitting a fever pitch after last week’s world premiere and the first round of very positive reactions from tastemakers , we might as well start looking ahead toward the future and the next wave of Marvel films like “Captain America 2,” “Thor 2” and “Iron Man 3.” “Iron Man 3” is first up in production, with Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson , Don Cheadle and recently announced villain Ben Kingsley . Now given the fact that the film will take place after the action in “The Avengers,” we can’t help but assume and hope that a few of Tony Stark’s new friends from “Avengers” make appearances in Downey Jr’s third Iron Man outing, particularly since Stark and Bruce Banner seem to form a very close friendship in Whedon’s “Avengers.” When MTV News caught up with the man should be making that appearance, Mark Ruffalo, we asked him how Bruce Banner might end up in “Iron Man 3” . “On a horse,” Ruffalo joked about how he should make a cameo. “What if Hulk had a whale that he road?” “Are you in Iron Man 3?” Johansson asked. “No, not that I know of,” Ruffalo said. “That’s a great idea.” “You never know until the last minute,” Johansson pointed out. “They could just call you up.” “I’m sure there’s a way for me to find my way into that,” Ruffalo said. “You should,” Johansson said. “We work well together,” Ruffalo said of his rapport with Downey Jr. “I think you guys are fabulous together,” Johansson said. “And your scenes [in “Avengers”] are some of my faves. “I’m a good foil for him,” Ruffalo added. “Certainly,” Johansson agreed. “And you share something.” “Will you talk to Kevin?” Ruffalo asked Johansson, requesting her to put some pressure on Marvel chief Kevin Feige. “I will,” she promised. “I hope I can join you guys,” Ruffalo said. “I think Bruce Banner would be a nice [addition]. “Well now that it’s been revealed to us that Bruce is a possibility, why wouldn’t we call him for every job, is what I’m wondering,” Johansson said. “Right,” said Ruffalo. “He’s easygoing until…” “Until you really need him,” Johansson offered.
Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry were booted from ‘Idol’ earlier than anyone expected. By Gil Kaufman Jessica Sanchez with Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Ryan Seacrest on “American Idol” Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images America, you only have yourself to blame. In a pattern repeated for the past few seasons, “American Idol” viewers seem to get a little lazy this time of year and suddenly forget to vote for their favorites, putting one of the potential winners in jeopardy. Case in point: preternaturally talented teen diva Jessica Sanchez. Even after killing it on Wednesday night (again) , Bebe Chez very nearly got sent home in seventh place Thursday night in one of the most shocking near-eliminations in recent history. The judges didn’t even have to hear her sing before they jumped up to save the singer , but she came thisclose to becoming the latest super-talent to wash out of “Idol” way before her time. The “Idol” save has a checkered history. Sometimes it’s been pulled out for singers whose talents (and commercial prospects) were decent at best (Michael Lynche) or annoying at worst (Casey Abrams). In fact, of the four saves in “Idol” history, the only one that truly made sense was season eight’s piano-playing Matt Giraud, who only made it one more week before being sent home. With only two weeks left before their save would have timed out, Randy, Jennifer and Steven pulled out the lifeline for the one remaining contestant who truly deserves it, if only for the fact that Sanchez could break the string of wins by bland white male singers who’ve met with solid to dismal chart success over the past four seasons. If Sanchez had gotten the boot, she would have joined a fairly illustrious group of singers who were gone too soon. Among them: Jennifer Hudson : Success is the best revenge, and when Hudson was inexplicably sent home in seventh place during season three who knew she’d go on to be the first Oscar winner in “Idol” history and a musical powerhouse? Um, we did. Chris Daughtry : The second-most shocking elimination in “Idol” history has to be bald-headed steak-and-potatoes rocker Chris Daughtry. He went out in fourth place in season five, which was won by … Taylor Hicks. Yeah, that guy. After declining to take the lead singer gig in Fuel, Daughtry went on to multiplatinum success and a spot as the third best-selling “Idol” alum of all time. Melinda Doolittle: If you watched season six of “Idol” then you likely remember the powerhouse vocalist that ex-lead judge Simon Cowell dubbed “incredible.” But, somehow, Melinda got the hook in the week before the finale , beat out by Blake Lewis. You know, the beatboxing faux-hawk wearing dude who lost to Jordin Sparks? Exactly. Do you think the judges made the right call by saving Jessica? Let us know in comments below! ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ singer Kimbra jokes that she probably won’t appear in any sketches on late-night comedy show. By Jocelyn Vena Kimbra Photo: MTV News Looking for some moody music to set the tone this Saturday night? Well, Kimbra and Gotye have your back. The chart-topping duo are set to perform their heartbreaking track “Somebody That I Used to Know” this week on “Saturday Night Live” as the show’s musical guests. When Kimbra stopped by the MTV Newsroom on Friday (April 13), just one day before her late-night performance, she opened up about the opportunity to hit the stage in the famed studio. ” ‘Saturday Night Live’ is going to be great. I’m really excited,” she said. “We’ve had a few rehearsals. It’s really cool to just get a feel of the whole vibe. I’ve heard such great stuff about the experience. It’s gonna be awesome.” While many musical artists have joined in the fun of appearing in comedy sketches on the show, Kimbra admits she won’t be cracking any jokes this weekend. “Not that I know of! I hope not. That would be fun, but I’m not very funny!” the native New Zealander shared, noting that she’s mostly only watched clips online. “I haven’t seen all that much of the show. I’ve seen little bits here and there. I know Tina Fey used to be on it. It looks so much fun. It’s gonna be great. “I think ‘SNL’ is so well-known for its musical performances, as well, and people really breaking into America through a really great performance on there,” she added. “So I think me and Gotye are both really excited to be amongst such company. You know, it’s great.” This gig is yet another milestone for Kimbra and Gotye as they continue to find small-screen and chart success with “Somebody That I Used to Know.” It was covered on “Glee” and has been featured on “The Voice” and “American Idol.” This week’s “SNL” will be hosted by “Men in Black III” star Josh Brolin . ‘It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy,’ Pitt’s manager tells People. By Jocelyn Vena Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are engaged, Pitt’s manager confirmed Friday (April 13). “Yes, it’s confirmed,” Cynthia Pett-Dante told People. “It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy. There’s no date set at this time.” Click here to see photos of Brangelina It’s being reported that Robert Procop worked with Pitt to design a ring for his longtime love. A statement from the jewelry designer to The Hollywood Reporter, which originally reported the engagement, read: “I can confirm that, yes, Robert Procop did indeed design an engagement ring for Angelina Jolie, designed in collaboration with Brad Pitt.” People also obtained a statement from the designer: “Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration with Robert. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so Robert was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suit Angelina’s hand.” Procop, who works with Jolie on her “The Style of Jolie” jewelry line, added, “Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.” Rumors of an engagement originated when Jolie — along with Pitt and their son Pax — was spotted with a whopping piece of bling on her finger. The family was photographed at a private viewing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Chinese Galleries on Wednesday. The pair got together in 2005 after meeting on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. They have six kids together, who frequently travel with the couple across the globe. The twosome have been pretty vocal over the years about not getting married until everyone has the right to marry, but in an interview earlier this year with THR, Pitt seemed to be warming up to the idea, mostly because of their kids. “We’d actually like to,” he said of his seven-year partner, Jolie, “and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.” He added, “I’m not going to go any further. But to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous.” Related Photos Lovebirds: Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie
