Yaya DaCosta has landed what some might consider the greatest role of all. The former America’s Next Top Model contestant will anchor Lifetime’s upcoming Whitney Houston biopic as the late/great singer, portraying Houston through her roller coaster relationship with Bobby Brown and detailing her meteoric rise to superstardom. Since appearing on Cycle 3 of the aforementioned CW competition, DaCosta has recurred on such programs as All My Children, Ugly Betty and House. She’s also enjoyed some big screen success, most recently playing a role in Lee Daniels’ The Butler. Former Oscar nominee Angela Bassett will direct the yet-untitled film, which is scheduled for a 2015 release.

The TV movie, directed by Angela Basset will chronicle Houston’s relationship with Bobby Brown during her rise to superstardom. This will be DaCosta’s return to the small screen having appeared on America’s Next Top Model, All My Children, Ugly Betty, House and most recently Lee Daniels’ The Butler. The Whitney Houston biopic has recently come under fire from the late singer’s family who believe that she deserves more than a TV film. The biopic is slated for a 2015 release date. Vanessa Williams is finally cleaning out her closet Vanessa Williams Reveals Abusive Sexual Past In Nightline Interview Having opened up earlier this month about the sexual abuse she suffered as a 10-year-old, Vanessa Williams is now revealing her heartbreaking secret high school pregnancy that ended in abortion. “Being pregnant is the most frightening thing that happens in your life,” revealed the 49-year-old Desperate Housewives star during an interview with ABC’s Nightline. “I knew in high school that’s something that I was not prepared to do, or fight, or struggle with.” The actress claims her early sexual awakening was a direct response to the molestation she suffered at the hands of a female family friend, as RadarOnline.com previously reported. “I think I was highly sexualized because I was in fifth grade and I had this experience,” she explained. “Because it feels good, you’re like, OK, well this is supposed to be normal. That’s not normal for a 10-year-old to be seduced.” While appearing on Nightline with her mom, Helen Williams, Vanessa revealed how she had aborted her baby as a teen because she was too scared to tell her parents about her fall from grace. In the book, Vanessa also tells-all about the infamous photoshoot that cost her the Miss America tiara. “I started out on top of a cab and ended up in a studded collar upstairs an hour later,” Williams said. “That was my joke, saying, you know, ‘How could I go from this trusting, you know, photo shoot, to being in S&M clothing within the same shoot with a guy I didn’t know.’” Ultimately, the snapper didn’t keep his word, and Vanessa was catapulted from the stage of Miss America to the pages of Penthouse, leading to a sex scandal that cost the beauty queen her crown. “I’ve learned to embrace my past. 31-year-old accused of killing his mother with a sword in their Brooklyn, N.Y., apartment. By Eric Ditzian Michael Brea Photo: Michael Brea’s Facebook page Former “Ugly Betty” actor Michael Brea has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the death of his 55-year-old mother, according to multiple reports. The 31-year-old Brea stands accused of holding his mother hostage and then slaying her with a 3-foot-long sword. Citing police sources, the New York Daily News reports that Brea was convinced his mother was possessed by Satan and that he yelled such statements as “Sinner! Sinner!” and “You never accepted Jesus” as neighbors listened in horror early Tuesday morning. Neighbors in his Prospect Heights apartment eventually called the police. “I hear the brother chasing her [his mother] through the house and he’s just saying a bunch of [Bible] passages like ‘Repent, Repent, Repent,’ ” neighbor Gregory Clare told New York’s WPIX . “I heard him chasing her through the house and I hear a loud scream, and so I have my father call the cops, call 911.” Officers responding to the call reportedly encountered an extremely bloody scene and the butchered body of Brea’s mother. Brea himself was said to be clutching a bible and a sword (initial reports claimed it was a samurai sword, but the Daily News now says it was a Masonic ceremonial sword). The actor was aggressive and had to be Tasered before being placed on a stretcher and brought to Kings County Hospital for psychological evaluation. WPIX reports that neighbors described Brea and his mother as “quiet people,” and that Brea showed no previous indication of mental illness. The actor has had roles on “Ugly Betty” and, most recently, in this summer’s “Step Up 3D.”
