Michael Jackson Paramedic Recalls Hectic Ride To The Hospital

Path was blocked by paparazzi, Richard Senneff recalls during Conrad Murray preliminary hearing. By Gil Kaufman Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: AFP/ Getty Images Everywhere late King of Pop Michael Jackson went in life, he was photographed and followed by the paparazzi. So it’s no surprise that even in death, the musical icon could not escape the scrutiny of the prying tabloid press and his rabid fans. In the third day of testimony in the preliminary hearing of Dr. Conrad Murray , a paramedic who responded to a 911 call to Jackson’s rented Los Angeles mansion on June 25, 2009, said the ambulance’s path to the hospital was blocked by photographers and Jackson fans who were gathered outside the singer’s home that morning. Murray, who was hired to be Jackson’s personal physician in the lead-up to the singer’s attempted This Is It comeback concerts in London, has been charged with a felony count of involuntary manslaughter in the case. According to the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedic Richard Senneff said he could not believe the mad scene outside Jackson’s Holmby Hills mansion last June. “It’s a circus out there. It’s unbelievable,” he recalled thinking in the hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to bring Murray to trial. Senneff said the ambulance driver had trouble getting away from the home because of the huge crowd outside that included a tour bus and a variety of photographers. “It just seemed wrong,” he said, describing how one man holding a video camera ran alongside the ambulance holding his long lens against the window of the emergency vehicle. When questioned by a defense lawyer, Senneff said Murray had wanted to put a “central line” — a large catheter placed in a large vein in the neck or chest — in an attempt to restart Jackson’s heart, but the paramedics did not have the equipment or training to pull off the procedure. Earlier testimony by bodyguards claimed that Murray had improperly administered CPR to Jackson after finding the singer unresponsive, did not appear to know how to give the life-saving treatment and then requested that another guard round up medical evidence before calling 911. Senneff said Jackson did not respond to two rounds of drugs meant to revive him and that hospital officials told him over the ambulance radio to “call” Jackson’s death but that neither he nor Murray wanted to do it, despite the fact that Jackson appeared to be dead when they arrived. He described Jackson not having a pulse, cold legs and dry eyes and said the paramedics’ heart monitor showed the performer had “flatlined.” When Murray was asked how long Jackson had been unresponsive, CNN reported that Senneff testified Murray told him it “just happened,” an account the paramedic said “didn’t add up.” Jackson was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical Center a short time later, and Senneff said rescue workers had gone “above and beyond” the call of duty in the field to try and revive Jackson, not because he was a celebrity, but because “it was someone’s son.” In further damaging testimony, Judge Michael Pastor heard from another paramedic who, like Senneff, said Murray did not initially tell them that he had given Jackson medications. A police investigation found that Murray had administered a variety of sedatives to Jackson in the hours before the singer’s death, including doses of the powerful anesthetic propofol. Paramedic Martin Blount said the denial about what medications he’d given Jackson struck him as strange because he saw hypodermic needles and three bottles of the anesthetic lidocaine in the pop star’s room. Murray, who has pleaded not guilty in the case, “scooped up” the bottles and put them in a bag before leaving for the hospital. In other testimony, TMZ reported that two phone company representatives reported that in the hours before and after Jackson’s death, Murray texted and phoned a number of people, but never dialed 911. According to accounts of Jackson’s final hours, Murray left the singer’s side to go to the bathroom just before 11 a.m. and when he returned, he found him unresponsive. Records read in court show that Murray was sending and receiving multiple texts every few minutes after the discovery, but that he did not inform a Jackson bodyguard to call 911 until after 12:20 p.m. Related Photos Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos

T.I.’s Wife, Tiny, Gets Drug Case Dismissed

Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris’ proved she completed a drug diversion program in Georgia. By Mawuse Ziegbe Tameka “Tiny” Cottle Photo: Prince Williams/ Getty Images T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris , may have gotten the MC into some more trouble during her recent jail visit, but she’s managed to avoid a harsh penalty for the last time the two misbehaved together. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office confirmed to MTV News that a judge dismissed a misdemeanor drug possession charge against the songstress stemming from a September drug arrest on Thursday (January 6) after Harris provided evidence that she had completed a drug diversion program in Georgia. Harris was charged with a single count of misdemeanor drug possession in October, one month after she and her chart-topping spouse were arrested in Los Angeles after authorities found Ecstasy after pulling the pair over. The incident led to T.I. getting hauled back to jail in November for probation violation, months after he wrapped up a prison bid for a felony gun case. The former Xscape singer has sidestepped further legal trouble just days after Tip was reprimanded and moved to a “special housing unit” after getting “frisky” with his longtime love during a visit. T.I. has been keeping in touch with fans from prison through letters, thanking followers for their support and maintaining that he’s ready to turn over a new leaf during his latest jail stint. “It’s a relief to know that there still are people who see a man with a life and not just another headline in the news,” he said in a letter in December. “Most of you sound very concerned and optimistic at the same time about my situation. Let me assure you all that I am definitely keeping my head up. I don’t consider myself done by far. Also many of you are convinced as I am that God has a plan for me that he’s preparing me for. How do you tell God Almighty that all you wanna do is LIVE LIFE ??? What if all you wanna do is be a father to your kids, a husband to your wife, and son to your mother while providing insightful motivation through music and lending a helping hand when possible to those who need it most. Well guys…That’s the topic of discussion between me and the MOST HIGH at the moment. I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out.” Related Artists T.I.

Lindsay Lohan To Be Released From Jail

Actress will reportedly have to wear SCRAM bracelet again upon release. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lindsay Lohan in custody on Friday (Sept 24) Photo: Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department/ Getty Im Lindsay Lohan is expected to be a free woman once again after a second judge agreed with her lawyer that the actress is entitled to bail. Since Lohan’s jailing Friday (September 24), lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley was reportedly working to get her client the option of posting bail . The Los Angeles Times reports that on Friday afternoon, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Schnegg overturned Judge Elden Fox’s order and granted the actress $300,000 bail. TMZ adds that Lohan will have to be outfitted with a SCRAM bracelet within 24 hours and avoid venues where alcohol is the “chief item of sale.” Lohan sported a SCRAM bracelet this summer, which reportedly went off at a party, an incident that ultimately led to her July prison sentence. Lohan was sent to prison exactly one week after she admitted to failing a court-ordered drug test , the screening being one of many conditions the starlet had to adhere to after back-to-back stints in jail and rehab. Judge Fox ordered Lohan to be held without bail until a scheduled October 22 hearing in the case. The move was reportedly a tactic to keep the actress in prison instead of sentencing her outright, which might have cleared the way for early release due to overcrowding. “Ms. Lohan cannot be released early because this isn’t a jail sentence,” L.A. Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told People on Friday. “She’s being held by court order until her hearing on October 22. She will be held in the same conditions as her last stay, in a keep-away unit.” Lohan has been frank about her struggles with addiction and recently tweeted about her willingness to face the repercussions of her actions after reports of her failed drug test surfaced. “Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result,” Lohan tweeted last Friday. “Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn’t go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future. … This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I’m prepared to face the consequences.” In July, Lohan served 13 days of a 90-day jail sentence over a probation violation stemming from a 2007 DUI conviction. She followed up the jail time with 23 days court-ordered rehab, a fraction the court’s original mandate of 90 days. UPDATE 09-19-10: FOUND Unharmed |13 Members (Including Eight Children) of "Cult-Like" Group Missing | May Have Plans for Mass Suicide | Palmdale, California | Videos

14 members of 'cult-like' group missing Six adults and eight children of a “cult-like” group in southern California were reported missing Saturday after they left behind notes saying they were going to meet Jesus and dead relatives, authorities say Police: Missing 'cult-like' group may have plans for mass suicide By the CNN Wire Staff September 19, 2010 3:32 a.m. EDT Members of a church group led by Reyna Chicas were reported missing amid fears they may be planning to take their own lives. Los Angeles, California (CNN) — A “cult-like” group of 14 Salvadorans — including eight children — is missing in southern California after leaving behind notes indicating plans to commit a mass suicide, authorities said. The six boys and two girls in the group are ages 3 to 17, said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. “The letters essentially state that they [missing persons] are all going to heaven shortly to meet Jesus and their deceased relatives,” the California governor's office said. “Numerous letters found say goodbye to their relatives. It is believed, through further investigation, that the missing persons' intentions are to commit mass suicide.” Investigators issued an alert Saturday night asking for assistance in locating the group from Palmdale. The alert was issued after two husbands of church members reported them missing, the governor's office said in a statement. Though the notes did not mention suicide, the outcome seems like a strong possibility, Whitmore said. The group is traveling in three vehicles — a 2004 Nissan Quest, a 1995 Mercury Villager and a remodeled Toyota Tundra, according to Whitmore. The group was reported missing Saturday afternoon — after it held a prayer meeting. “They left behind personal belongings and written notes … [saying] they're going to see dead relatives and Jesus,” Whitmore said. Items left behind include deeds to homes and cash, indicating “that someone is leaving it behind,” Whitmore said. The spokesman issued a televised plea to the group. “If you're watching this, come home,” Whitmore said. “Come home alive to the people who care for you.” Anyone with information is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. (born Clifford Harris Jr.) around 10:30 p.m. for making an illegal U-turn in his Maybach, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. When the officers approached the vehicle, they apparently smelled the scent of marijuana wafting from the car and then searched the passengers and the automobile. Police found an unspecified number of pills that “resembled ecstasy.” T.I. and Tiny were not traveling alone but the Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said the other passengers in the car were not charged with a crime. The duo posted $10,000 bail each and were released early Thursday morning. They are due in court on September 3. Other celebs have weighed in on the alleged drug bust as well. 50 Cent suggested that Tiny take the fall for Tip, who was released from prison earlier this year after completing a jail bid stemming from weapons charges. “Man TI and tiny done got picked up agin for methamphetmines and ecstacy dam man,” 50 tweeted . “Tiny gotta take that charge. Say it was yours, Baby.” Frequent T.I. collaborator DJ Drama did not directly reference the arrests, but did tweet, “So I wake up to the news …. damn…” The incident comes just days after T.I. kicked off the week with the #1 movie in the country, “Takers,” a film he worked on as both a star and a producer . In addition, the ATL MC’s latest single, “Pledge Allegiance to the Swag,” surfaced on the Web on Wednesday. Related Photos T.I. And Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle Related Artists T.I.

T.I. And Tiny Arrested For Alleged Drug Possession In Los Angeles

Rapper and his wife were booked for felony alleged possession of a controlled substance Wednesday night. By Gil Kaufman T.I. and Tameka Cottle Photo: Getty Images Rapper T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle were arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday night for alleged possession of a controlled substance. According to an arrest report on the incident from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, during the course of a traffic stop involving Tip (born Clifford Harris Jr.), 29, and Cottle, 36, on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood at 10:30 p.m., “deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.” A narcotics investigation followed and both Tiny and T.I. were “found to be in possession of a controlled substance.” At press time, there was no information on which drug the possession charge covered. TMZ reported that the recently married couple were traveling in a Maybach when they were stopped by deputies. Both T.I. and Tiny were booked at the West Hollywood sheriff’s station on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, and bail was set at $10,000 each. Deputy Jeff Gordon confirmed on Thursday morning (September 2) that both had posted bail around 4 a.m. PT and were due back in court on the charges on September 3. A spokesperson for T.I.’s label could not be reached for comment early Thursday morning. Tip, who celebrated the #1 debut of his film “Takers” last weekend, is on federal probation following a seven-month prison term he completed in March on weapons charges. At press time, Gordon said considering T.I. was allowed to post bail on the drug charge, it did not appear that the rapper’s probation from the federal charge would be impacted by Wednesday night’s arrest. Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray’s Trial Set For January

Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s death. By Gil Kaufman Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images More than a year after Michael Jackson’s death , the pop icon’s former personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was in court Monday (August 23) where a judge finally set a preliminary date of January 4, 2011, in the cardiologist’s involuntary-manslaughter trial . TMZ reported that Murray’s legal team won a request to get a fluid sample from Jackson as part of their defense strategy questioning the accuracy of levels of the surgical anesthetic propofol found in Jackson’s body. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office determined that Jackson, 50, died as a result of acute propofol intoxication. Murray has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter and has admitted to giving Jackson propofol, a strong anesthetic usually used during surgery but allegedly employed by chronic insomniac Jackson as a sleep aid. Murray’s lawyers have said the physician did not administer any drugs that “should have” caused Jackson’s death. The investigation into his death was equally lengthy, lasting more than eight months, after which Los Angeles prosecutors charged that Murray gave the King of Pop a lethal combination of propofol and other painkillers and sedatives in the hours before the singer was found dead in his rented Los Angeles mansion on June 25, 2009. Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted. After hearing from both sides in the case at the January court date, the judge, Michael Pastor, will determine if there is enough evidence to mount a full trial. Jackson’s mother and father, Katherine and Joseph, were in court on Monday, according to Radar Online , sitting in the front row as Judge Pastor set the preliminary hearing date. Pastor granted a protective order covering all evidence in the criminal case, meaning it cannot be released to anyone other than the lawyers, paralegals and investigators in the case. Murray’s defense team reportedly asked for access to three fluids collected by the coroner’s office, including ones taken from syringes and an IV tube to re-examine test results. Pastor ruled that the coroner’s office must preserve the samples, and if defense attorneys and prosecutors cannot agree on the request, he will schedule a hearing on the matter. After court let out, a group of Jackson supporters gathered and sang an impromptu verse that featured the lines, “Conrad Murray is a cold man,” while holding up signs that read “Justice for Michael Jackson” and “Love Unites Us, Peace Drives Us, Judgment Day 4 All.” Related Photos Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos Related Artists Michael Jackson

Jillian Michaels Sued for Dangerous Diet Product

Is Jillian Michaels trying to kill us? Possibly, according to a new lawsuit filed against the celebrity trainer. A woman referred to as “R.D.” in documents has filed a class action lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court that claims Jillian’s Triple Process Total Body Detox & Cleanse diet supplement contains a “potentially lethal combination of toxic ingredients. Also, it “might kill you.” Hmmm… can we feed it to Mel Gibson ? Among the ingredients the lawsuit singles out, as first reported by TMZ, are: Irish Moss Powder because it “causes gastrointestinal ulcers” and is “so toxic that it is the gel commonly applied to aircraft wings to dissolve ice.” Bearberry, which is “known to cause nausea and vomiting.” Yarrow, described as “a toxic lawn weed that causes dermatitis” Chinese Rhubarb, “a harsh laxative and dangerous diuretic that can cause sever dehydration and may cause irreversible liver damage” R.D. is seeking $10 million for the conspiracy she alleges is behind the attempt to hide these products from the consumer. This is the fourth time Jillian has been sued for potentially toxic supplement ingredients. Please just take our advice, people: if you wish to lose weight, eat in moderation and exercise. That’s really the only healthy way to do it.
